MUMI BERAROMA MINYAK WANGI, FLUIDITAS IDENTITAS TOKOH PEREMPUAN DALAM RUANG SOSIAL: SEBUAH PENDEKATAN FEMINISME
This article is a brief analysis of a novel entitled Mumi Beraroma Minyak Wangi composed by Naning Pranoto (2001). To uncover its content relating to feminism issues, the article looks at first Bourdieu sociology, especially on social space. The subject matter to be dealt with here is focused on social space mobility experienced by the major female character in the story taking the 1965–1997 Indonesia as its background. The basic asumption is that in any social space mobility that occurs, the major female character of the story change her identity as part of the efforts to secure her existence in any environment where she is present. The change in identity forms an expression of concept of identity fluidity, in which one’s identity does not continuously exist in a similar situation. CYBERPANOPTIC: EKSPERIMENTASI DAN (TRANSPARANSI) KUASA PENGAWASAN
The article focuses issue of cyberspace with question “how subjects reproduce their presence in technological space?” Technological space is a space that is created through information or internet tehcnology network development. Internet booming in Indonesia’s social movement historicity attached with problem of information spreading under authoritarian New Order Regime that systematically placed truth which is controlled and centered. In this point, internet is able to uncover order and naration of truth from the ruler. But internet became ironic when its presence brought consequences into mass subjectivity presence space, fluid in up to speed technology and the will of becoming in experimentation form without limits. Experimentation which referred to subject’s textuality and visuality is presented as consciousness tendency in political order and at the same time, represented cultural dimension that discursively appeared to negate in virtual partial objectivity. This condition, for writer, is part of spatiality which signify the presence of subjectivity that is formed in late capitalism order. The order is able to touch social unconsciousness space. Especially, on how kinds of presence which are placed as selfconsciousness particularity are only become kinds of language representations without refer to materiality formation movement that were represented.

HIBRIDITAS IDENTITAS ORANG-ORANG TIONGHOA PERANAKAN DALAM TEKS DAN PRAKTIK SILANG BUDAYA
Two literary texts written by Chinese peranakan (Indonesiaborn Chinese) describe how the Chinese try to survive in Indonesia. They need a flexibility that is reflected in the use of language, literary genre, and their philosophy connected with the social environment where they live. The Dutch colonial government and the New Order treat them ambivalently. The legacy find its form of replacing Chinese names with Indonesian ones in order to get the national identity. They are inclusive to protect themselves from violence. Initially, it was safer to use neutral western names. Until now the Chinese peranakan tend to idolize Western, but at the same time doing cross cultural breeding through birth, marriage, and death rites. Most of them adopt middleeastern religion, despite also performing traditional Chinese, Javanese and western rites. Hybrid practices are no longer in the form of dialect because they come from a variety of cultural identities leading to a multicultural spirit that awakens them from ethnic sentiment. Keywords: Cina, ethnicity, hybridity, identity, peranaka
CAKRAWALA HISTORIS PEMAHAMAN: WACANA HERMENEUTIKA HANS-GEORG GADAMER
This article discusses hermeneutics theory developed by Hans-Georg Gadamer (1900— 2002). Gadamer’s hermeneutics critically examines aesthetic crisis and historical understanding theory from a Heideggerian perspective. Hermeneutics is a classical discipline relating to textual understanding. Through Gadamer’s hermeneutic theory, interpreter understand the presented texts by relating them to their historical contexts. This way of understanding leads to a notion that interpreting texts not only means as reproducing meaning, but also as producing meaning beyon the texts.. In the text there is context. Therefore, interpreter should understand the historical horizon of textual and contextual understandings in order to establish its whole meaning.

Pragmatics as the waste basket of linguistics –because this field of language study becomes the receiver of any unsolved linguistics problems– needs to accommodate the broadest understanding of the contexts themselves. Not only that it must include the so-called textual context and any extralinguistics ones such as the spatio-temporal settings, but it also includes ones that relate to social and cultural aspects. Comprehensive, wise, and through considerations on any situational aspects of the utterances, in addition to social and cultural aspects, might also determine the right interpretation of meanings of the language. All aspects of contexts that might be utilized and implemented comprehensively to interprete meanings of any unsolved linguistics items might be called in this way, the pragmatics context. The last mentioned is the main concern of the discussion of this article and definitely such context needs to be reinterpreted.

NEGOSIASI IDENTITAS PRIBUMI DAN BELANDA DALAM SASTRA POSKOLONIAL INDONESIA KONTEMPORER
There are few postcolonial novels which narrate identity negotiation between Indonesians and Dutch people comprehensively since Pramoedya Ananta Toer wrote his phenomenal postcolonial novels quartet Buru. However, some contemporary Indonesian short stories highlight identity negotiation particularly in the era during which a lot of Indonesian students and immigrants live in the Netherlands, the former colonizer of Indonesia. This translocation indicates the deconstruction of the centre by the former colonized people from the place called periphery (colony). The movement of the former colonized Indonesian people to Netherlands, as a consequence, brings about identity negotiation in the metropolitan centre and creates what is called by Homi Bhabha in-between space. The identity of the Indonesian characters in those contemporary Indonesian literary works is constructed by the Dutch. Conversely, the identity of the Dutch is also stereotyped by the Indonesians. The relations between the Indonesians and Dutch people in the past, during the colonial period, to some extent engulfs that construction.

MODERNITY, LOCALITY, AND POSTCOLONIALITY OF VILLAGERS IN THE 80S
Being modern in local sphere at the 80s was a complicated process. Local societies experienced and dreamed modern cultures as the dominant discursive formation caused by Green Revolution, but they still believed and practiced traditional cultures. The New Order regime’s developmentalism policy resulted socio-cultural shifting and change in both cities and villages. This article, by combining cultural studies and postcolonial studies, discusses genealogy of socio-cultural shifting and change in a village at the 80s when modern cultures came into peasants’ life--world through public television programs, education, and industrial products. However, I see the villagers could play in-between space to appropriate some modern cultures and negotiate some traditional cultures into their daily life. The cultural in-betweenness has represented the dynamics of village postcoloniality under direction of the New Order regime and has made modernity as ideological dream for the villagers in constructing their locality.
