Get PDFThis paper aims to determine the feminist ideology and author’s feminism expression contained in the short story "Crystal Lamp" by Rachael Indraswari Ibrahim and "Sipleg" by Oka Rosmini. The method used here is a qualitative descriptive one that describes the content of literature. The writing is done through literature research. The results showed that the ideology of feminism and author’s expression of feminism in the short stories "Crystal Lamp" by Rachael Indraswari Ibrahim and "Sipleg" by Oka Rosmini express sincerity, patience, and acceptance of a woman in everyday life. In addition, they reveal that behind the attitude and nature as women who receive their circumstances, there is also an attitude or willingness to rebel in order to receive recognition and equal status with men.

Get PDFThe problems discussed in this article are: (1) the cultural conception of Madurese community on illnesses, diseases, and treatments; (2) the creation of a healthy lifestyle among the Madurese communities along the Watershed (DAS) in the region of former residencyt of Besuki. This article aims to understand the views, knowledge, and beliefs regarding illness and disease. It elaborates the Madurese communities’s views on the causes of illnesses, handling and treatments, and their views on healthy lifestyles. It is shown that misconceptions about illnesses, their causes and health have formed an unhealthy lifestyle. There has been a shift in sociocultural conceptions of illness, disease, and health among them. Their sociocultural conceptions of illness, diseases, and health linked to magical beliefs have reduced and they become more rational in their view of sickness, disease, and health. This occurs in harmony with the higher level of education, welfare, and social status.

Tarot, clairvoyant and those who are predicted, is a very closely related. In any process of predicting it is likely to bring a wide range of facial expressions of people who are predicted. An artwork videography titled Tarot's Major Facial Expressions is a creation of artwork videography with an object of facial expressions of people who are predicted by using Major Tarot cards. The facial expressions of each person who is foretold by the Tarot cards are always changing like people go through life. Unexpected things sooner or later will lead to change. Facial expressions can be intentional, but usually unintentionally, as a result of feeling or emotion. This artwork videography is in the form of image broadcasting supported by sound and room installation where it perform. This created artwork can make people know the process of predicting by using a media of Major Tarot card and be able to know that video world is not only limited on television and performance in cinemas.

Get PDFThis article discusses a novel Lady Chatterlay’s Lover by David Herbert Lawrence. The story is based on the writer’s life background as well as the background of English economic, social and cultural condition before and after the first world war. The life experiences of Connie and her husband, Clifford, are taken as the main topic of this research by using expressive and psychological approaches. It is described that at the beginning Connie has a good personality but this chnges to be a bad one after her husband, Clifford, has got paralyzed. Such a condition has shifted her to be a woman who has no good character. She plunges herself into humiliating life by committing adultery with some other men. She has done it because she has never got what she hopes from his husband ; in addition, the economic condition of her family also gets decline as the impact of English economic, social and cultural condition before and after the first world war. KEPELOPORAN SAPARDI DJOKO DAMONO DAN HAMSAD RANGKUTI DALAM PEMBINAAN PENYAIR MUDA INDONESIA
Get PDFGreat names of Jassin, Gunawan Mohammad, Sapardi Djoko Damono, and Mochtar Lubis as editors of Horizon, gave a quality assurance of literary magazine. However, it should be realized that the ratio of the number of literature pages and literary works was uneven. As a result, not all literary works can be published in Horizon literary magazine. Some newspapers such as –Suara Karya, Berita Buana, Pelita, Kompas, dan Sinar Harapan– provide a rubric of literature, for publishing literary essays and literary works (short stories and poetry). The limited space for literary works of young people to be published in literary magazines or literature section in a newspaper is unable to discourage the spirit of the young people to produce their works. Their hope are open with the presence of Sapardi Djoko Damono (poet) and Hamzad Rangkuti (short story writer) through the Indonesian Poetry Publishing Foundation. They argued that no one may prohibit the birth of a creative process, especially the literary works of the young people. Painstakingly, the two writers have read and selected poetry composed by young poets from all over Indonesia. Collection of poems that have been recommended by two great writers have been published in the form of simple physical (paper stencils) and funded by these young poets. Some of the young poets have published their poem anthologies through sponsorship of the local government of their origins or private companies.

Earth Suksesindo forms a special division that manages the social fund company in a department called the Department of Community Relations and Development Department. The formation of this department indicates the seriousness of the company in the management of the program while ensuring that CSR can be executed and useful for the development of social, economic, and environmental. One of the activities that has managed a positive impact on improving the local economy is the empowerment of women by forming groups of oyster mushroom cultivation. This program puts women initially limited to managing household finances into productive workers who are able to contribute an income to the economic improvement of families.

Actually, education character has been done since Ki Hajar Dewantara era, but then, it is scraped by modernization that destroy many values of nation culture, including education. That's why, education character is urgent in the education world. Character education must be integrated in all subjects, because it is impossible burdening of learning moral and character only on two subjects namely religious education and citizenship education. This paper will discuss about the importance of education character in Indonesia, roles of school, and internalization strategies of education character that can be used by teachers in imparting moral values to the students.

Get PDFThe ability of using particular language is closely related to social promotion. However, not all languages that have large speakers get the chance. Java language - whose speakers are ranked the 11th of the 6,000 languages in the world - has not been used to support social promotion. In Java, there are literary expressions whose meanings penetrate cultural, social, political, economic, and security events or phenomena, namely ‘crazy era’. The phrase is to criticize the socio-political life which ignores the Javanese cultural values and norms. Change is a necessity. However, it does not mean to tear down the noble values of a community or nation, because the socio-cultural life will collapse, the pride and dignity of a nation will be blurred or lost because the people are uprooted from their cultural roots. Language and literature are a valuable cultural heritage. Language is a buffer of identity and literary reflection of the inner world of its owner. In this era of creative industry, literature and language that have such great speakers and heirs as the Javanese language, can become an instrument to strengthen the social, moral, and cultural promotions. Ronggowarsito’s Kalatida can be utilized for the sake of it.

As a ritual activity, ruwatan is still held by most of the Java community in order to make life better. In order to make ruwatan activities not to be forgotten, then it is presented a study in linguistic meaning of the word ruwatan, sukerta, and Murwakala. Data were collected from a number of sources such as research results, journals, seminars, and books. Data about the three words were then analyzed their lexical and grammatical meanings. Broadly speaking, ruwatan means an activity within the framework of self-liberation from all kinds of life problems by means of selected instruments, sukerta is object purified ie those which are considered to bear a matter of life, disruption, or bad luck, and murwakala is a tool in ruwatan that in the form of puppet shadow performance with figure of Batara Kala as an incarnation of wrong kama who will eats humans. Get PDFThe motto of unity in diversity since has been introduced since the time of Majapahit as a spirit to appreciate cultural diversity. Concepts and theories employed here as perspective and the presented cases show that as the effects of acculturation crisis, the Indonesian culture becomes more appropriate when it is accessed with a productive intertextual reflection. The intertextual reflection on Bimasoetji showed the productivity of creative process to produce history. The readers are able to exploit Bimasoetji script or friction that exists to show a prosperity-producing new identity. On the other hand, deceptions as happening to the recitation of the superiority of Obahorok, a head of Dani tribe, just delay welfare. The event fails to correspond the structured world experience, and the ways or emergency tactics that are inherent in the body and mind to move the shared history, remove prejudice to converge in the common welfare.
