Examining entrepreneurial intentions through the lens of university students’ attitudes
The labour markets of the transition countries of Central and Eastern Europe relied on stronger growth of the corporate sector as a mechanism for integrating the growing number of laid-off workers. The Serbian labour market has had a similar experience. Decades after the start of economic reforms, however, the role of entrepreneurship as an integrative employment mechanism has not increased in importance, which is best evidenced by statistical data. This paper focuses on students’ intention to start their own business after graduation, and specifically examines the relationship between intention and personal attitudes. The experiment was conducted with two groups of students. The results indicate differences in students’ attitudes towards entrepreneurship that deepen according to faculty group, gender, and year of study. From the students’ responses, it can be concluded that electrical engineering students, female economics students and students in higher years of study are more inclined towards entrepreneurship. This may have implications for measures to support the development of youth entrepreneurship
Profitability of Organic Farming of Spelt in the Climate Conditions of Serbia
This research focuses on assessing the general profitability
of organically produced spelt. Spelt is an ancient grain that
has experienced a resurgence in Serbia in the late seventies
of the previous century, due to its exceptional nutritional
value and high compatibility with organic farming. Field
experiments were conducted in northern Serbia over
four years, applying further financial analysis. The main
goal of the research is to identify and quantify the costs,
benefits, and general profitability of organic production of
spelt in the climatic conditions of Serbia. Results indicate
that organically produced spelt is economically profitable,
primarily due to its significantly higher market price
compared to conventionally produced spelt. Given climate
change concerns, promoting the cultivation of climateresilient
crops, like spelt, becomes crucial. Organic spelt
cultivation could play a significant role in adapting crops
to climate change, emphasizing the need for activities that
mitigate negative environmental impacts
Academic performance indicators for the hackathon learning approach − The case of the blockchain hackathon
The subject of this article is an analysis of the hackathon concept as an educational approach and its role in the development of students’ knowledge and skills. The goal is to conduct an in-depth examination of the effectiveness and achievements of the hackathon, with special reference to the attitudes of students and teachers involved in this educational methodology. The key emphasis is placed on participants’ perception of the possibilities of hackathons providing long-term results and hackathons’ impact as an educational format. Through a specific blockchain hackathon jointly organized by the University of Belgrade, Serbia, and the University of Florida, USA, the research examines participants’ perspectives and their expectations, experiences, and overall impressions. The research focuses on the readiness of hackathon participants to incorporate new technical skills through this form of learning, knowledge acquisition, attitudes, and motivational drivers. Furthermore, the research examines how participants’ views change before and after the event. The paper contains the insights of educators who, relying on their experiences at the hackathon, emphasize the importance of measuring and monitoring the outcome of the hackathon. Their perspectives highlight the motivation for promoting experimental learning methods in academic settings. This comprehensive research sheds light on multiple impacts of hackathon participation, which extend beyond knowledge acquisition to include changes in technological interests, success in specific domains, and the broader implications of hackathons as a transformative learning experience. The research contributes to the ongoing discussion about innovative approaches to learning. It provides a foundation for a better understanding of how hackathons shape attitudes and contribute to long-term outcomes for both students and teachers, establishing a conceptual framework for hackathon-based learning approaches and opportunities to monitor the effects of hackathons
Online labor platforms and taxation: a scoping review
Online labor platforms have been disrupting the landscape of employment in recent years. The efficient model of taxation of this new employment model has, however, lagged. This paper aims to provide an early scoping review of the literature on the taxation of online labor platforms. When observed through the stakeholder point of view, we see that cross- and transnational, government-to-platform, and platform-to-employee relationships are the only topics examined so far. This paper can serve other scholars in navigating their investigations related to the taxation of platform work
Embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Architectural Education: A Step towards Sustainable Practice?
This study explores the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the behavior and knowledge of final-year architectural students in Serbia and Montenegro. It aims to describe how students approach sustainability in architecture and their use of AI tools within this context. The primary objective is to analyze how AI affects students’ understanding of sustainable architecture indicators and how sustainability challenges and concerns influence AI applications. Using a comparative analysis approach across the two countries, this research employs surveys to test various hypotheses regarding the effects of AI on students’ perceptions of sustainability and their use of AI to achieve sustainable outcomes. The findings highlight a significant relationship between students’ knowledge of sustainability and their use of AI, revealing different influencing factors. These insights are essential for predicting future AI usage in architectural practice and provide a theoretical foundation for assumptions about sustainability in architecture. This study’s findings offer valuable guidance for refining curricula at the universities involved, aiming to enhance the integration of AI and sustainability in architectural education
The Dynamic Interaction Between Scientific Output in Environmental Science and Energy and Carbon Dioxide Emissions in G7 Countries
Due to excessive carbon dioxide emissions, the world is facing environmental devastation. Energy and environmental innovations are considered to be critical tools in combating the growing CO2 emissions. Developing these innovations requires extremely high investments in research and development processes, where knowledge is generated as one of the important outputs. This knowledge serves as a basis for innovation development and raising awareness among all relevant stakeholders about excessive environmental degradation. One of the significant sources of knowledge is scientific publications. Therefore, the aim of this research is to examine whether increased CO2 emissions stimulate the scientific community to publish a greater number of papers, as well as whether the knowledge contained in these publications is utilized in reducing CO2 emissions. The sample consists of G7 member countries. The time frame of the research is 1996–2019. The dynamic properties of the vector autoregression (VAR) models were summarized using impulse response function and variance decomposition forecast error. In most G7 countries, it has been determined that an increase in scientific production in environmental science and energy leads to a reduction in CO2 emissions. On the other hand, increased CO2 emissions affect higher scientific productivity in environmental science and energy only in Canada
Business Sector Investment in R&D as a Factor for Improving Innovation - Evidence from Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia
The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether a country’s innovative capacity increases when the business sector invests more in research and development. The empirical investigation covers Serbia and its three neighboring countries in the European Union – Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria – for the period from 2011 to 2021. The results indicate that an increase in investment by the business sector at the current level of GDP influences the increase in innovation in the case of Serbia, Hungary, and Bulgaria

nastavnika i saradnika ne učestvuje značajno u prikupljanju ili deljenju podataka. Rezultati ističu potrebu za povećanom
svesti i znanja o efikasnom upravljanju podacima kako bi se unapredio kvalitet akademske nastave u Srbiji
The economic development effects on freshwater abstraction from the European perspective
Water scarcity is a growing concern across the globe due
to climate change and demands for increased economic
development. This paper analyses the relationship between
economic development and freshwater abstraction in order
to investigate its European impact. The analysis focuses on
a total of 19 European countries, including 18 EU member
states and one candidate, from 2007 to 2018. Using a panel
dataset, the impact of a diverse selection of indicators
of economic development (per capita GDP, the Human
Development Index - HDI, water productivity and volume
of international trade) on freshwater abstraction, our
analysis finds that all explanatory variables are significant
for cross-country variations except for international trade.

of climate change and the availability of water resources
Enterprises’ Emissions Intensity and Financial Performance in Serbia: The Case Study of Wastewater
Untreated industrial and municipal wastewater is the key factor that leads to water pollution in Serbia. The aim of the paper is to examine the impact of environmental performance (using eco-intensity indicators) of enterprises on their profitability in the period 2011-2020 in Serbia in the area of wastewater. Apart from using the panel data technique in the paper, the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) is also used to estimate the parameters in the model. The results demonstrate that if the eco-intensity indicator increases, the profitability of an enterprise increases significantly, whereas the profitability of an enterprise decreases with the increase in the size of an enterprise. According to the results of the evaluated model, the capital intensity variable has no influence on the profitability of an enterprise. Additionally, it has been determined that the coefficient with the eco-intensity indicator is quite large, indicating the poor eco-efficiency of Serbian enterprises in the area of wastewater
