Program Development of Activities Regarding Food and Nutrition in Higher Education : An Approach from Practical Learning
This study aimed to develop a “Program of Activities Regarding Food and Nutrition” through regional collaboration, focusing on practical learning within higher education. This program mainly provides opportunities for direct experiences with people, nature, agriculture and more. “Nutrition education” is conducted in various educational institutions, communities, etc., but there are few of these studies on higher education. In this study we analyzed two years of course content for the “Program of Activities Regarding Food and Nutrition” within the liberal arts programs.departmental bulletin pape

Merchant Behavior Observed Through Store Signs -A Case Study of Commercial Streets in Guangzhou, China-
This study focuses on nonwritten cultural materials, specifically signs, in commercial areas of China. It involves collecting photographic data of signs and statistically analyzing factors such as store size, industry, the number of signs, and their colors. The goal is to identify the overall characteristics of these signs and explore their relationship with merchant behavior. The Beijing Road area in Guangzhou was chosen as the research site due to Guangzhouʼs status as a commercial city and Beijing Roadʼs historical and developmental significance as a commercial hub. Field research and data organization revealed that the most developed industries in the current Beijing Road area are clothing, food and beverage, jewelry, and calligraphy and antiques.
The study focuses on the signs of stores in these four industries, analyzing store signs rather than all outdoor advertisements. The most distinct morphological elements, such as store size, industry, the number of signs, and their colors, were collected and statistically analyzed. Relationships between some of these elements were also considered.
As a result, it was found that in Guangzhouʼs urban commercial centers, merchantsʼ habits in using signs vary according to industry and store size. Contrary to the conventional belief that Chinese stores prefer red signs, not all industries use red signs extensively, and the number of red signs varies by industry. While there are differences in store signs between industries, signs not at the central position of the store space tend to prefer red or yellow, regardless of the industry.
This indicates that modern Chinese merchants value the function of signs as symbols representing the industry, while also maintaining habits regarding material forms shared within commercial folklore.論文departmental bulletin pape
