    Probolinggo Regency is one of the production centers for milkfish producers in East Java. Milkfish has a very good prospect to be developed in the agribusiness especially in fisheries subsector. One of milkfish cultivators group that is known to be active in Probolinggo Regency is Aci Bahari Fish Cultivators Group (Pokdakan). This research aimed to explain the role of Aci Bahari Fish Cultivators Group (Pokdakan) on the cultivation of milkfish in Pesisir Village of Gending District, Probolinggo Regency. The research area was  determined by purposive method in Pesisir Village. The research used descriptive  qualitative method. Determination of informant conducted by purposive sampling. The methods used in collecting data are interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis method used is Miles and Huberman model. The results of the research showed that (1) The role of Aci Bahari Pokdakan as a learning class included the formulation of learning needs, routine group meetings, learning motivation, learning processes and the activeness of the group. (2) The role of Aci Bahari Pokdakan as a vehicle for cooperation included the atmosphere of cooperation, the division of tasks, deliberation of problems, planning of providing production facilities and cooperation with other production parties. (3) The role of Aci Bahari Pokdakan as a production unit included decision making, preparation of the group needs, technology facilities, implementation of group agreements and increasing production sustainability

    STUDI KOMPARATIF USAHATANI BUAH NAGA GOOD AGRICULTURE PRACTICES DAN NON GOOD AGRICULTURE PRACTICES DI DESA JAMBEWANGI, BANYUWANGI: COMPARATIVE STUDY OF DRAGON FRUIT FARMING AMONG GOOD AGRICULTURE PRACTICES AND NON GOOD AGRICULTURE PRACTICES IN JAMBEWANGI

    The study was aimed to: (1) The consideration of farmers are applied GAP and Non-GAP in dragon fruit farming. (2) Determine factors which influenced dragon fruit production in GAP and Non-GAP. (3) The cost efficiency between GAP and Non-GAP dragon fruit farming. Descriptive analysis, quadratic function, and independent sample t-test are employed to determine the objective of the research. The study showed that: (1) There were some considerations in applying the GAP of dragon fruit farming such the higher selling price to collectors, the affordable manure and fungicide costs, and eco-friendly. Meanwhile, the consideration of farmers in applying Non-GAP of dragon fruit farming was the larger size of fruit, the higher excitement of the consumers, and it was easier to obtain fungicide and manure. (2) In GAP farming number of plants, organic manure and labor force were significantly influenced toward dragon fruit’s production. While cropland acreage and fungicide had no a significant effect. In the other side, dragon fruit’s production in Non-GAP farming was significantly influenced by number of plants, organic manure, and labor force. While cropland acreage, plant lifetime, anorganic manure, fungicide, and growth hormone substances had no a significant effect. (3) The independent sample t-test analysis showed the significant value (sig. 2-tailed) had 0,000 < α (0,05), it means that there were significant differences in cost efficiency between GAP and Non-GAP

    The aim of this study was 1) to determine the productivity and income level at medium height of Arabica specialty in Jember District; 2) to know the prospects and specialty Arabica coffee development strategy at medium height in Jember District. The research method use descriptive and analytical methods while determining the research area was purposive. Determination of the sample was simple random sampling and determination of the sample was purposive sampling by conducting in-depth interviews. The results showed that: 1) Productivity arabica coffee specialty at medium height in Jember is 1892.12 kg/ha, 2) The income of coffee farmers is Rp. 6,606,366.14 per ha, 3) cultivation of specialty arabica coffee at medium height Jember district in the position of white areas and strategies that can be implemented is to undertake capacity building of the shareholder institutions that is Forest Village Community Organization who cultivated arabica coffee

    The purpose of this study include: 1) measuring the level of farm productivity and comparing among the tomato business scale, and 2) to identify factors that influence the tomato farm production in Jember. This research has been conducted in Jember, covering five District of samples, namely: Ledokombo, Sumberjambe, Ajung, Panti and Umbulsari. The data used are primary data and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from interviews with tomato farmers are guided by a list of questions that had been developed previously. While the secondary data obtained from the literature and agencies associated with this research. Analysis of the data used include quantitative descriptive analysis and regression naturally assuming that the relationship between the independent variables (Xi) and dependent variable (Y) is a Cobb-Douglas production function. The final conclusion is that: 1) The average productivity of farming tomatoes in Jember district, which consists of land productivity amounted to 153.662 ku / ha, labor productivity of 4.906 Kg / JKP, and productivity costs by 0.00047 Kg / USD. Based strata land area, did not show any differences in labor productivity and costs and but on land productivity among business scale narrow and wide, showed a highly significant difference in the confidence level of 99%, and 2) the factors that affect significantly to namely the production of land, labor and seed, while the fertilizers, pesticides and pesticide effect no significant effect on farm production of tomatoes in Jember

    This study aims to analyze the economic efficiency of rice farming and to measure the contribution of rice farming to total household income and to analyze the living standard of farm households in Sambeng Kulon Village, Kembaran Sub-district, Banyumas Regency. The study was conducted in Sambeng Kulon Village, Kembaran Sub-district, Banyumas District. There were 71 farm households selected by stratified random sampling. The analysis used to calculate the economic efficiency of rice farming is R/C ratio. The contribution of paddy farming to farm household income is obtained by dividing the income earned from rice farming by the total household income multiplied by 100 percent. The living standard is measured by calculating the farm household income divided by the number of dependents in order to get percapita income. This figure is then compared to the regency’s current decent living standard. The results of this study indicate that 1) rice farming in Sambeng Kulon village with an area of ​​≤ 0.5 Ha has a smaller profit (IDR2.718.580) compared with respondents who have land area> 0.5 Ha (IDR7.892.904), 2) the average contribution of rice farming income to farm households with landholding of  â€‹â€‹â‰¤ 0.5 Ha (54,96 percent) is lower than the contribution of rice farming income obtained by respondents with landholding of > 0.5 Ha (77,43 percent), 3) the average income earned by respondents from rice farming (IDR1.624.961,00) is sufficient to meet the average household consumption of IDR 1,379,441.00, and 4) of 71 respondents in Sambeng Kulon Village, 63 respondents live below the decent living standard; after being added with nonfarm income, this figure decreased to 55 respondents. The implication of this research is that the respondents are expected to increase the landholding to increase income earned from rice farming or earn additional nonfarm income so that they can meet household consumption

    This paper analyses the household and farm characteristics of vegetable farming in four regions of East Java and Bali provinces. Household and farm characteristics are important in research and development project, particularly when the project intervenes with improved technological packaged. Household and farm characteristic are analyzed using descriptive approach by comparing and contrasting each characteristic across regions. Data were compiled from a field survey of 360 farmers during 2013-2014. The results show that every region has distinct characteristics. Vegetable farming was characterized by small-scale and fragmented farm. The land was closely situated around the home. Level of education was low. Being a farmer was the main occupation. Suitable policies related to these conditions should pay attention to the small-scale farming issues

    Shellfish is the raw material for making dried shellfish. Home industry located in Balongdowo village, Sidoarjo regency has long been cultivated, but until now most of the craftsmen have not showed significant development. This study was aimed to determine value added of shellfish based product dried, cost efficiency of dried shellfish processed product, and development strategy at dried shellfish home industry in Balongdowo Village, Sidoarjo Regency. Analyzer used include analysis of value added, analysis efficiency cost, and SWOT analysis. The result of the analysis shows that: (1) Wet shellfish added value in shellfish dried home industries medium, (2) Home industry shellfish dried in the use of production cost has been efficient, (3) The appropriate development strategy to be applied was using the W-O strategy that was by dried shellfish industry should use labour maximization, good packaging process, labelling, and try to get healt-assesment certification to expand the marketing process

    Banyuwangi Regency is one of the centers of watermelon production in East Java Province. Muncar Sub-district is a watermelon producing district with the highest harvest and production area in Banyuwangi. The village of Muncar sub-district known as watermelon producing village is Tembokrejo Village. This research conducted in the Tembokrejo Village at the farmer group of Ridho Lestari has three purposes, namely: (1) to know the marketing channel of watermelon, (2) to know the margin and efficiency of watermelon marketing, and (3) to know the income and efficiency of watermelon farming. The results showed that farmers of watermelon farmer group Ridho Lestari have 4 marketing channels, namely: (a) farmers - wholesalers - retailers - consumers, (b) farmers - middlemen - wholesalers - retailers - consumers, (c) farmers - middlemen - retailers - consumers, and (d) farmers - exporters - importers; (2) the non-exported watermelon marketing margin is low and efficient, while the export marketing margin is high and inefficient; (3) Ridho Lestari farmers' watermelon farmer's income is beneficial and the cost of watermelon farming is efficient

     The success of the supply chain of vacuum fried green soybean can be seen from the supply chain flow of the raw materials and the continuity of the resulting product. Agro-industry activities that convert primary products into new processed products with higher economic value can provide higher added value and greater benefits when compared without going through the processing. The research aim to know: (1) product flow, finance flow, and information flow; (2) marketing margin of the supply chain; and value added of vacuum fried green soybeans in UD. Raja Keripik, Jember. The research was conducted in UD. Raja Keripik, Jember. Purposive method was used to determine the research location. Snawball technique was used as sampling technique based on information of UD Raja Keripik’s owner. The first aim was answered with descripton method, the second aim was answered by margin formula, and the last aim was answered by the analysis of Hayami value added. The result proves that (1) there are three flows in the supply chain of the vacuum fried green soybeans such as product flow, finance flow, and information flow (2) The margin distribution of marketing in supply chain shows that profit in each link is not equally. It can proved by the value of provit that are 51.90%; 6.78%; and 38.79%. (3) The value added of processing of one kilogram of vacuum fried green soybeans is Rp. 18.619,49 &nbsp

    This research aims to describe the level of competence of farmers in composting, and to draft extension and try out the implementation of counseling about composting in group of livestock of Mekar. The research was conducted in sub-district Dagangan of Madiun Regency. Selection of livestock group is done by purposive that is the only group of livestock that have made compost that is group of livestock of Mekar which is located in Kepet village. The research method used is case study with quantitative descriptive approach with scoring. The population is 44 people, the sample is based on the census. The results showed that: 1) the level of competence of farmers in composting is classified with the details of the competence of the preparation stage is low, the competence of the manufacturing process is low, and the competence of the storage stage is classified; and 2) drafting the extension plan based on the target and the purpose of extension so that the breeder know, understand and able to increase the C-Organic content and C / N Ratio on the compost according to the standard.
