    Impact of Reclamation on Capture Fisheries in Jakarta Bay

    Jakarta is the capital of the state whose condition is very dense; to meet the requirement of land for the development and expansion of Jakarta, the reclamation of Jakarta Bay was planned. In addition to overcome the limitations of the land, reclamation activities will also be able to play a very important role in the rearrangement and can give a distinctive character to the area Ancol Beach.   One of the activities affected due to the reclamation of Jakarta Bay is a fisheries activity.  Fishermen in the Bay of Jakarta actually have shown opposition to reclamation, so the control of ongoing projects and activities related to dredging is necessary to ensure that the impacts are very minimal impact on fisheries and aquaculture activities. It was required a study of the impact of reclamation on fisheries  activities and fishermen adaptation.  The objectives of this study are (1) to understand the knowledge and acceptance of the fishermen to the reclamation activity, (2) to understand the fishing community's perception of the impact of reclamation and (3) to understand the patterns of adaptation of the fishing communities due to the reclamation.  Desktop study and interview were conducted to collect the data.  Calculation of composition and GIS analysis were conducted to analyze the data.  The level of knowledge of fishermen in Cilincing, Muara Angke and Muara Baru on reclamation activities showed a low level of knowledge.  Sedimentation during the reclamation process is a major concern to the fisheries. Some fishermen said the reclamation had no impact on the fishing areas.     Development of fisheries, including aquaculture sub-sector and capture fisheries in Wakatobi and Morotai Island district concerning the balance between social, economic, and environmental. Fisheries management system includes the development of fisheries attention both aspects. Condition of fishery resources has decreased need fisheries management in order to remain sustainable and deliver sustainable results. Management of fisheries resources should be done in a holistic manner.     Technical Design of Danish Seine on North Java Waters

    Cantrang (danish seine) is the most fishing gear used by fisheries along the coast of north java waters. The Ministry of Marine and Fisheries Affair of fishing gears regulation number 02/MEN/2011, cantrang operation areas more than areas 2 or 3 miles. They are using various size and design construction in each location. This paper would be descripting the design and construction of cantrang and comparing with Indonesian Standard (SNI) 01-7236-2006. The comparative value of net wing from Tegal more long than total length of net, circumference of mouth net cantrang Rembang approximately 60,84 meters more large than total length. The panel of webbing cantrang from Tegal has appropriate standar. Fishing ground of cantrangs are spread in north java waters approximately 30 – 60 meters. The operation of cantrang is all of year every day, especially when the wind condition from the east to the west areas, and sometimes they are operation in coastal area. Considering of comparation data, design and construction of fishing gear as cantrang from Brondong and Rembang are not related with SNI 01-7236-2006.Keyword: cantrang, danish seine, design, construction, webbin

    The Economic Benefits of Karimunjawa National Park

    Karimunjawa National Park (KNP) inhabited mostly by fishery household, surrounds by 111.625 ha of waters. Protected area such as national park can essentially provide benefits for the survival of humans and other ecosystems. Economic valuation studies as one of the basic management becomes extremely important to be done to understand the extent of KNP provide benefit either directly or indirectly. These benefits should be assessed in economic value that management policy input can be done comprehensively. The objective of the research is to to assessing the economic benefit of KNP. Value of the economic benefits of KNP is Rp 53 Billion. Fishing activities contribute to the value of Rp. 30, 51 M (57.52%), tourism activities Rp. 11.28 M (21.26%) and ecosystem Rp. 11.26 M (21.22%).These value is benefit value and also opportunity cost if KNP ecosystem damage, the minimum economic loses to be borne by society.Keyword: economic valuation, Karimunjawa National Par

    Making of Concentrates Protein Catfish and Its Application in Dumplings Crackers

    Crackers dumplings that much-loved public generally contains less protein, to increase the protein content and add flavor, the addition of Fish Protein Concentrate (FPC) is the right choice. This study aimed to determine the flow of the process of making protein concentrate catfish, crackers dumplings with the addition of FPC, and know the content of the proximate and microbiology. This study was conducted on March 1 until 14 April 2012, in a modern processing workshop, chemical and microbiological laboratories Fisheries Jakarta University.  This activity uses FPC processing equipment, cracker dumplings and analysis tool for chemical and microbiological testing. Materials used catfish, wheat flour, eggs, butter, and chemical analysis of chemical and microbiological testing. Work methods, beginning with the protein concentrate catfish, processing cracker dumplings with the addition of  protein concentrate catfish (0%, 2%, 4%). Then, determine the selected products, examined for chemical and microbiological quality. Data analysis method is descriptive quantitative and qualitative. The conclusion of this study are stage of making a protein concentrate catfish are : preparation, the destruction of the flesh, extraction, pressing, drying, and grinding and sieving . The process of making crackers dumpling with the addition of protein concentrate catfish  that mixing of materials, pressing, drying, and packaging. The best products based on hedonic test is crackers dumplings with 2% protein concentrate catfish (product B). The proximate test results are the moisture content of 16.75%, ash content 1.25%, 36% fat content and protein content 18.95%. The ALT test results of raw materials are1.7 x 104 col / gr and the product B’s 2.8 x 103 col / gr and bacteria E. Coli is negative. Keyword: concentrate protein, catfish, crackers, dumplin

    Identification of Bacteria which Infected The Garra Rufa Fish Cyprinion Macrostomus at Quarantine Office of Soekarno-Hatta Airport

    A study has  been carried out to identify the bacteria that  infected the  garra  rufa  fish (Cyprinion macrostamus) which have been transported through the Quarantine Office of Soekarno - Hatta Airport.  These fishes were among the freshwater commodities which frequently transported throughout various countries, because they were commonly used for decreasing the effect of psoriasis in a feet  spa  treatment, by  feeding  the  dead  cells of  feet  skin.  Therefore, the possibility of spreading the diseases during  the treatment must be anticipated. In this study the bacteria samples were taken from the fish skin and then cultured in the laboratory. After purification of the  cultures,  the bacteria were then tested by a serial  microbiological methods to identify the bacteria. The results showed that the Garra rufa  fish (Cyprinion macrostomus)  observed in this study  indicated  the presence of   bacteria  of  (+) Motile Aeromonas Septicaemia,  and  (-) of   Motile Aeromonas Septicaemia, which were among the diseases of quarantine fishes.  While the Aeromonas hydrophylla  was also found out, even though not  included as diseases of quarantine fishes. Therefore, they may received the health  certificate  for  fish and fish product for export as well as  for therapeutic purposes .Keyword: garra rufa, bacterial identification, bacterial pathoge

    Application of Zero Waste Concept on Milkfish Shredded Meat Processing

    Shredded meat milkfish is one of fishery products made from steamed milk fish meat, making meat, seasoning, frying  and squeeze that will produce shredded meat. This study aimed to identification of the waste types and the application of the  zero waste concept in the processing of milkfish shredded meat in Shefish business group located at  Bumi Agung 1 Residence Serang Banten Province.   In the process of making milk fish shredded meat waste is generated in the form of liquid and solid wastes. Liquid wastes include water fish washing results, steaming water and the juice of the fish meat. While the solid waste generated from the gills, guts, fish heads, skin and fins of fish, fish bones and condiments such as leather waste of onions and garlic skins.  The application of zero waste concept through waste utilization optimizing the milkfish shredded meat  processing can be done either on liquid and solid wastes. Utilization of liquid wastes such as water washing and boiling water containing soluble protein can be used as an ingredient in  feed ducks pasta  and flavor products. Utilization of solid wastes in the form of fish bones and spines can be used to fish bone meal, fish head waste can be processed into crackers calcium, and use of the intestines and gills can be used as raw fish silage or bekasang product.  Milkfish skins and spins becomes to crispy product.  Waste generated in the milkfish shredded meat processing of Shefish business groups are  used yet.     Applicaton of Collapsible Mud Crab with Escape Gap in Laboratory Scale

    Use environmentally unfriendly mud crab fishing technology threat sustainability.  Catching crab is more environmentally friendly can be done with the installation of escape gap in collapsible trap. Escape gap use to escape not economic mud crab.  This study aims to determine the shape and size of escape gap and more effective installation position for use on collapsible traps. The results showed that the rectangle escape gap with dimensions 60x36 mm can carry a mangrove crab with carapace width <70 mm. The installation position of the most effective escape gap is on the side under the funnel with crab escape frequency percentage of 53%.     Diversity Identification of Home Industry of Shrimp Paste Product in Banten Province

    The shrimp paste products is one of the traditionally processed products by fermentation. Shrimp paste products are familiar in every layer of society in Indonesia, which is commonly used as a flavoring dishes. A study to identify the diversity of shrimp paste products have been carried to know the home industry diversity of shrimp paste products, in Banten province as well asits physical quality. The shrimp paste products diversity was observed in the market directly and also by interview with the producer in Banten Province. The identification of shrimp paste product was conducted with physical test of filth, that was the foreign materials that mixed-up with raw shrimp paste products. The results showed that there were different raw materials used as well as the product forms, processing, physical quality of the product, pricing and marketing distribution of the shrimp paste products. Almost-uniform product of shrimp paste were found between Pandeglang (TP) and Serang (TS) shrimp paste product, while that of Domas (TD) and Binuangeun (TB) were relatively same in its diversity. Domas (TD) and Binuangeun (TB) shrimp paste product were of good quality, made of terasi shrimp, without dyes additive, and fillers. While that of Pandeglang (TP) and Serang (TS) were of low quality due to the use of waste of salted fish, dyes, and filler material

    The Survival and Growth Rates of Transplanted Ornamental Coral Reefs In Pramuka Resort of Seribu Islands

    The highly demand of coral reefs trading in various countries, have endangered to the coral reef condition in Indonesia. Many people exploited the coral reef bed to yield part of their needs of incomes. Therefore, serious conservation efforts are urgently needed. In this relation a study have been carried out to observe the survival and growth rate of transplanted coral reefs in Pramuka resort of Seribu Islands. In this study four species of coral reefs were used as the experimental objects which were transplanted into cemented substrates. They were, namely Acropora formosa, Hydronopora rigida, Pocilopora eydousi, and Seriatopora hystrix. The fragment of these coral were measured every month for their length and survival. The results showed that survival rate were ranged from 89.06 to 100% and the length gained were varied after 5 month transplantation from 6.4 cm for Acropora formosa (highest) and 0.74 cm for Hydronopora rigida.
