    Abundance, Biomass and Alginate Yield of Padina australis in Sumbawa Aquatic

    Padina australis is one of brown seaweed which mostly found in Sumbawa coastalarea. This seaweed has a potential as a raw material for alginate. We examinedabundance, biomass and alginate content of P. australis. Data were collectedmonthly from October 2012 to January 2013. Sampling was located in the aquaticof Sumbawa Regency by the number of stations is 3 stations. Station 1 was locatedin the aquatic of Labuhan Badas District, stations 2 and 3 were in the aquatic ofBungin Island. The highest value of biomass were found on May in station 1(33.98 g wet weight/m2) and the lowest values on station2 (3.12 g wet weight/m2).Alginate content showed the highest value of 6.65% on May in station 1 and thelowest value of 3.08% on July in station 2. The results showed that biomass andalginate contents of P. australis significantly influenced by interaction of physicaland chemical enviromental factors. P. australis grew in station 1 on May had thehighest biomass and alginate contents with characteristics of physical andchemical enviromental were hard substrate, current 0.40 m s-1, pH 8, temperature32°C and salinity 32 psu

    Relationship of Cover Percentage Coral Reef and Fish Abundance in The National Marine Park of Wakatobi

    Coral reef ecosystem is a marine resources that have some important role in supporting the life of a variety of aquatic organisms, such as shelter, feeding ground, and breeding ground for a large marine biota. This research was conducted in February - May 2015 in the conservation area National Marine Park of Wakatobi. This study to determine of percentage of live coral covering, fish abundance with coral reefs associated, to know the environmental factors to the lives of aquatic biota, as well as to analyze the relationship between the percentage of live coral cover with an abundance of reef fish in the waters of Kapota Island, which is included in the National Marine Park of Wakatobi. The results showed that the average value of live coral cover in the waters of the research area of 47.77% (enter the category of medium) with an average abundance of reef fish as many as 195 individuals / 250 m2. Relationship of life coral and reef fish abundance are positive symbioses with 0.0184 value determinant (R2)

    The Serayu River, a major river in Central Java Province, crosses five regenciesincluding Banjarnegara Regency. Barb is one of the fish species, which found inthe Serayu River tends to decrease in population. The aim of The Study are toexamine length-weight relationship and condition factor of barb (Barbonymusballeroides Val. 1842) in Serayu River. The fish samples were taken from October2012 to March 2013. Fish samples were caught using nets, gill nets. The sampleswere analyzed to find out the length, weights and condition factor. The resultsshowed That length weights relationshipis expressed by the equation: W = 3E-05L2.81 and allometric negative, while the female fish W = 8E-06L3.05 andallometric positive. the condition factor male fish peak season in March andfemale fish in October.     This study in aiming to evaluate response of knife fish to various life fish species as a diet sources in controllable tank. After adapting to experimental condition, 36 tested fish collected from nature of 326.6 ± 184.1 g in individual weight were randomly stocked in 7 fiber tanks at a rate of 4-5 fish per tank and fed on life fishes in fingerling size at different combinations (common carp, tilapia, shrimp, carp+tilipia, tilapia+shrimp, carp+tilapia+shrimp) every 6 hours for 5 days of culture period. The result showed than knife fish prefer combination life food of common carp and tilapia, and then followed by common carp, tilapia and shrimp. Night was feeding time for knife fish

The aim of the research is to know characteristics andperception from the fisherman to Situ Cipondoh and economic value ofrecreational fishing in Situ Cipondoh. The research using primary data which iscollected by accidental sampling from 50 fisherman. Valuation of recreationalfishing in Situ Cipondoh using travel cost approach. Average respondent age are34 years old, graduate from Senior High School and earn money about2.000.000,00 IDR – 3.000.000,00 each month. They usually come alone and stayfor fishing about 6 hours and more. Significant factor that affect the number oftourists is the number of fish catched.     The shrimp paste products is one of the traditionally processed products by fermentation. Shrimp paste products are familiar in every layer of society in Indonesia, which is commonly used as a flavoring dishes. A study to identify the diversity of shrimp paste products have been carried to know the home industry diversity of shrimp paste products, in Banten province as well asits physical quality. The shrimp paste products diversity was observed in the market directly and also by interview with the producer in Banten Province. The identification of shrimp paste product was conducted with physical test of filth, that was the foreign materials that mixed-up with raw shrimp paste products. The results showed that there were different raw materials used as well as the product forms, processing, physical quality of the product, pricing and marketing distribution of the shrimp paste products. Almost-uniform product of shrimp paste were found between Pandeglang (TP) and Serang (TS) shrimp paste product, while that of Domas (TD) and Binuangeun (TB) were relatively same in its diversity. Domas (TD) and Binuangeun (TB) shrimp paste product were of good quality, made of terasi shrimp, without dyes additive, and fillers. While that of Pandeglang (TP) and Serang (TS) were of low quality due to the use of waste of salted fish, dyes, and filler material

    Growth and Survival Rate of The Rainbow Kuromoi Fish (Melanotaenia parva) with Addition of Green Mussle Shell in The Culture Medium

    The water quality management is an important factor to increase the productivity of the fish. Optimal pH in the culture medium will make the rainbow kuromoi reproduce well. In this study the green mussel shell was used as medium to increase the water quality of the culture medium. The different concentration of green mussel shell were used namely: 0 g, 30 g, 60 g 90 g, and 120 g. The results showed that the addition of green mussel shell to the culture medium has a significant effect to the culture of rainbow kuromoi fish. The addition of 120 g of green mussel shell showed the best result in pH of water culture medium at 8,2. The best alkalinity of culture medium also found in the addition of 120 g of green mussel shell at 144,76 mg/L. The addition of green mussel shell was also affected the growth fish in term of its body length, body weight, and its survival rate. The growth of its body length were: 3,46 cm (control), B: 3.57 cm, C: 3.94 cm, D: 3.96 cm, 4.17 cm. The final weigth of the control treatment was: 0,61 ± 0.01 g, B: 0.86 ± 0.02 g, C: 1.02 ± 0.05 g, D: 1.08 ± 0.05 g dan E: 1.11 ± 0.07 g, The best SR was found at addition of 120 g shell at 82,22 ± 3,85% and the lowest SR was at control treatment at 40 ± 5.77%

    Spatial Distribution of Polychaeta at Tangerang Coastal Water, Banten Province

    Polychaeta is the benthos organisms that have an important role in nutrient cycling, decomposition, mineralization, magnification and caterers to the seabed. This study aimed to determine the density and spatial distribution of Polychaeta in the Coastal of Tangerang, Banten. The research was conducted from April to August 2014 along the coast of Tangerang, Banten. It consists of 52 stations are divided into three different locations (Kronjo, Cituis and Tanjung Pasir). The research found 5454 specimens in 25 species of Polychaeta. The highest density found in the Tanjung Pasir location (151 Ind/m2) followed Kronjo location (105 Ind/m2) and the lowest on the Cituis location (25 Ind/m2). Spatial distribution based on claster Bray-Curtis analysis showing the Kronjo location form one group (76.47%), Cituis up into five groups and Tanjung Pasir form one group (72.6%). Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA) relationships distribution of the fraction on sediment with Polychaeta showed Sternapsis scutata, this Polychaeta deposit feeders dominate on the mud substrate and Exogone naidin, Capitella capitata, Scoloplos armiger, Aphrodate aculeate and Glycera capitata. Polychaeta are predators dominate the sand substrate, while Ophryotracha puerilis is cosmopolitan Polychaeta spread at each location and station.Keywords

    Impact of Palm Oil Mill Effluent Towards Phytoplankton Community in Krueng Mane River, North Aceh

    Palm oil mill effluent has potential as a pollutant and can reduce the aquatic productivity. One of the organisms potentially affected by palm oil mill effluent is phytoplankton.The study on the phytoplankton community in Krueng Mane river was done from July to September 2016. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the structure of the phytoplankton community in Krueng Mane river due to input palm oil mill effluent. The explorative survey was done at three sampling sites along the river. Sampling sites were determined based on purposive sampling method by looking human activity around the sites. The results show that there are seven classes of phytoplankton. The highest abundance of the phytoplankton was found at sampling site 2 (25.645 individual/liter). The diversity index showed that all of the sampling locations have a moderate degree of diversity, but the stations 2 have unstable community than the other two stations (E = 0.685).Saprobic coefficient indicates that station 2 included into moderate polluted β/α mesosaprobi

    Level of Environmental Friendliness of Collapsible Trap Based in the Archipelagic Fishing Port of Karangantu Serang City Banten Province

    The archipelagic fishing port of Karangantu is a main place of swimming crab fishing and processing in Serang City. The fisherman using collapsible trap to catch swimming crab in this port. The objective of this research is to analyze the environmental friendliness level of collapsible trap was used by fishermen. The research was carried out by experimental fishing method on 20th January –17th February 2015 using a collapsible trap that has a length x width x height: 41 cm x 29 cm x 18 cm. This research used four criteria for assessing the environmental friendliness is a high selectivity, low by-catch, high quality of catches and low impact to biodiversity. The catches consist of Portunus pelagicus (82%), Nibea albiflora (5%), Harpiosquilla raphidea (3%), Octopus sp. (3%), Epinephelus sp. (2%), Terapon jarbua (1.5%), Podopthalmus vigil (2%), and Charibydis feriatus (1.5%). The proportion of main catch of 86%, 97% of live catch, and diversity index of 0.84.
