An ef?cient anonymous remote attestation scheme for trusted computing based on improved CPK
Abstract This paper investigates how various consumer behaviors influence sales volume in social commerce through information dissemination. We use a modified SIR dynamic model to study these effects and how they vary under different maximum message lifetimes and as the number of network nodes varies. We conduct parameter sensitivity analysis to measure the influences of consumer behaviors on the sales volume. The simulation results indicate that consumer behaviors during information dissemination can significantly influence the outbreak size of the information and the sales volume. Specifically, a higher information-spread probability will increase the outbreak size of the message. A higher first-purchase probability could accelerate the increase in sales volume, especially when the maximum message lifetime is long and the number of nodes is large. Complete genome analysis of a novel phage GW1 lysing Cronobacter
AbstractA newly identified lytic Cronobacter phage, GW1, was isolated from the Pearl River of Guangzhou, China. GW1 had adouble-stranded DNA genome of 39,695 nucleotides with an average GC content of 53.18 %. Among the 49 open readingframes (ORFs) identified, genes for rRNA, tRNA, antibiotic resistance, and virulence factors were not found in the phagegenome. The morphology, genomic features, and phylogenetic position of GW1 revealed that it represents a new species inthe genus T7virus. AbstractFerret badger (FB, Melogale moschata) rabies is an increasing public health threat to humans, with FBs being a major reservoirand vector of rabies in China. Based on 152 published nucleotide sequences of the FB rabies virus (RABV) nucleoprotein,phylogenetic analysis revealed them to be clustered into six FB-related lineages, FB-I to FB-VI. The genetic featuresof members of lineage FB-VI suggest that cross-species transmission occurs between FBs and dogs. Molecular diagnosis of occult hepatitis C virus infection in Iranianinjection drug users
AbstractOccult HCV infection (OCI) has been described as the presence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) genomic RNA in hepatocytesand/or peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) specimens and the lack of HCV genomic RNA and anti-HCV antibodies(Abs) in plasma samples. Injection drug users (IDUs) are the most important high-risk group for infection with blood-borneviruses, particularly HCV. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of OCI in IDUs. A prospective crosssectionalstudy of 126 consecutive Iranian IDUs was performed from March 2017 to January 2018. PBMCs were separatedfrom blood samples from the participants, and after extraction of the viral RNA from the plasma and PBMC specimens,HCV RNA was detected in the samples using RT-nested PCR by amplification of the 5?-NTR of HCV. HCV genotyping wascarried out using restriction a fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) assay. The viral RNA was amplified using RT-nestedPCR with specific primers for the NS5B gene, and the PCR products were sequenced to confirm the results obtained byHCV RNA detection and HCV genotyping. Out of the 126 IDUs studied, 105 (83.3%) were negative for anti-HCV Abs andHCV RNA in plasma samples, whereas HCV RNA was detected in the PBMC samples of six (5.7%) participants, indicatingthat these individuals had OCI. Moreover, HCV genomic RNA was detected in PBMC samples from five (23.8%) of the 21IDUs studied who were positive for anti-HCV Abs and negative for HCV genomic RNA in plasma specimens. These IDUsalso had OCI. The HCV genotypes in the PBMC samples from the subjects with OCI were determined. Six (54.5%) subjectswere infected with HCV subtype 3a, and five (45.5%) were infected with HCV subtype 1a. This study showed that 8.7% ofthe Iranian IDUs had OCI, and therefore, a study focusing on the diagnosis of OCI in these individuals can be valuable andinformative
A major?capsid?protein?based multiplex PCR assay for rapididentification of selected virulent bacteriophage types
AbstractBacteriophages represent a promising alternative for controlling pathogenic bacteria. They are ubiquitous in the environment,and their isolation is usually simple and fast. However, not every phage is suitable for biocontrol applications. It must bevirulent (i.e., strictly lytic), non-transducing, and safe. We have developed a method for identifying selected types of virulentphages at an early stage of the isolation process to simplify the search for suitable candidates. Using the major capsid protein(MCP) as a phylogenetic marker, we designed degenerate primers for the identification of Felix O1-, GJ1-, N4-, SP6-,T4-, T7-, and Vi1-like phages in multiplex PCR setups with single phage plaques as templates. Performance of the MCPPCR assay was evaluated with a set of 26 well-characterized phages. Neither false-positive nor false-negative results wereobtained. In addition, 154 phages from enrichment cultures from various environmental samples were subjected to MCPPCR analysis. Eight of them, specific for Salmonella enterica, Escherichia coli, or Erwinia amylovora, belonged to one ofthe selected phage types. Their PCR-based identification was successfully confirmed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis ofthe phage genomes, electron microscopy, and sequencing of the amplified mcp gene fragment. The MCP PCR assay wasshown to be a simple method for preliminary assignment of new phages to a certain group and thus to identify candidates forbiocontrol immediately after their isolation. Given that sufficient sequence data are available, this method can be extendedto any phage group of interest
