Managing congestion in a multi-modal transportation network under biomass supply uncertainty
No full textAbstract This research presents a two-stage stochastic programming model that is used to design and manage a biomass co-?ring supply chain network under feedstock supply uncertainty. Themodelwe proposeextends currentmodels bytaking congestioneffects into account.Anon-linearcosttermisaddedintheobjectivefunctionrepresentingthecongestion factor which increases exponentially as ?ow of biomass approaches the capacity of multimodal facility. We ?rst linearize the model and then use a nested decomposition algorithm to obtain a feasible solution in a reasonable amount of time. The nested decomposition algorithm that we propose combine constraint Generation algorithm with a sample average approximation and Progressive Hedging (PH) algorithm. We apply some heuristics such as rollinghorizonalgorithmandvariable?xingtechniquetoenhancetheperformanceofthePH algorithm.WedevelopacasestudyusingdatafromthestatesofMississippiandAlabamaand use those regions to test and validate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Numerical experiments show that the proposed algorithm can solve large-scale problems with a larger number of scenarios and time periods to a near optimal solution in a reasonable amount of time. Results obtained from the experiments reveal that the delivery cost increases and less hubs with higher capacity are selected if we take congestion cost into account
A typology of three-way interaction models: Applications and suggestions for Asian management research

In this paper, we explain how to approach moderation based on three-way interactions, introduce three types of three-way interaction models, and provide the appropriate post-hoc statistical procedures accordingly. No full textAbstract Based on a robust structured literature analysis, this paper highlights the key developments in the field of human resource management (HRM) in the Middle East. Utilizing the institutional perspective, the analysis contributes to the literature on HRM in the Middle East by focusing on four key themes. First, it highlights the topical need to analyze the context-specific nature of HRM in the region. Second, via the adoption of a systematic review, it highlights state of development in HRM in the research analysis set-up. Third, the analysis also helps to reveal the challenges facing the HRM functionintheMiddleEast.Fourth,itpresentsanagendaforfutureresearchintheform of research directions. While doing the above, it revisits the notions of Buniversalistic^ and Bbest practice^ HRM (convergence) versus Bbest-fit^ or context distinctive (divergence)andalsoalternate models/diffusionofHRM (crossvergence)intheMiddle Eastern context.
