An ESP Learning Materials for Students of Midwifery
As an international language, English plays an important role as a means of communication. English as a tool and as an opportunity to support the future development. Therefore, English as a crucial subject in almost all education levels. One of term that concern with this condition is English for Spesific Purposes (ESP). This research aimed at developing an ESP learning material for students of Midwifery. This study used Research and Development combine the design by R & D design by Dick and Carey model (2005) and Borg and Gall (2003). The result showed that the learning English could be classified as English for Specific Purpose (ESP). English for Specific Purpose (ESP) is in line with the curricular objectives, which is modelled in terms of standard competency, basic competency and learning indicators. Following the competencies and learning indicators. Therefore, the detailed learning materials would be described in terms of (1) language function, (2) language features, and (3) text structures. Moreover, the result of questionnaire showed the students’ positive responses toward the learning materials. The learning materials were also proven effectively improve students’ speaking abilities after the implementation of the learning materials. The developed learning materials is good for English learning for students of Midwifery because it accomodates the needs of the students in their students teaching and learning process of ESP lesson.

The Strategies of Novice Teachers’ in the Large Class Management
novice teachers, strategies, large class.This research reports which aimed to analyze strategies of novice teachers used in the large classroom management. This work is a comprehensive case study covering all teachers who play an important role in their classroom management. The case study on this research focused on Junior High School novice teachers in Yogyakarta. The researcher choose this school because it has large class that can support the researcher in collecting the data. The subject of this research consists of five novice teachers. The data was gathered through observation and interview. This study indicated the perspectives of the novice teachers in large classroom.The result showed that the teachers mostly divide or organize the students by grouping them, monitoring them to check students’ work and to keep the class calm, give them positive punishment to students who misbehave, and using some teaching method to make students active during the teaching and learning process
Enhancing Students' English Speaking Skills through Web-Based Teaching
Teachers play a very important role in the teaching and learning process. They should utilize effective strategies that are included in classroom management. In this digital era, the teachers should adjust their methods in delivering or explaining the materials for the students. One of the technology is the web. The aim of this study is to investigate the teacher’s perceptions of using the web to enhance students’ English speaking skills. This study was under phenomenological qualitative research and characterized by an interdisciplinary approach, especially education and technology. The direct personal interview was utilized to obtain the information from the teacher. The survey encompasses twelve questions that become different categories and was done in eight grades of class B in SMP Negeri 3 Pleret. The results showed that teaching speaking using the web can effectively enhance the students’ English speaking skills and the students give positive reactions regarding this method
Task- Based Language Teaching TBLT in Improving Students’ Speaking Proficiency
This article explores about the use of Task-Based Language Teaching can improve the speaking proficiency students of class XII IPA SMAN 1 Amali Kabupaten Bone. The research method was used is Experimental design. The populations were 350 students of SMAN 1 Amali Bone and samples were 50 students, purposive sampling was the technique in taking sample. Data on students’ speaking were collected in line with the instrument (test and questionnaire) and analyzed by inferential statistic. Based on the research findings and discussion, the conclusions are: 1) The use of Task- Based Language Teaching (TBLT) in teaching speaking class can improve the students’ speaking skill. It was proved by the mean score of the students’ posttest in experimental group was 79. 69 and the mean score of the students’ posttest in discussion technique was 73.85. it means that there was higher improvement in experimental class; 2) The students are interested in learning speaking English through Task- Based Language Teaching (TBLT). The mean score of students’ interest was 92.0 %. It was classified as very high interest
Teachers' Strategies in Managing the Class
Nowadays the classroom management is very important for the teacher. In Indonesia, the class had several categories. Namely, international class and regular class. The teacher need to be aware of this phenomenon. They should established some strategies in order to manage their class. The population in Indonesian school nowadays was various. There are small and large classes. On this research, the researchers would like to know what kind of strategies that the teacher used in managing the large class. On this research, the researcher used Qualitative approach in the form of Descriptive qualitative design. The result found that there are many strategies that the teacher can use in managing the large class
Classroom Management Strategies in English Language Teaching: A Perspective of English Teacher
The essence of classroom management is the creation of more conducive student learning conditions. The conducive learning conditions are the most important prerequisite for the smooth implementation of student learning activities, so that the smooth learning process influences the learning outcomes more optimally. Good class management is one that can serve and help students' needs in learning. Therefore, the characteristics and needs of students are the first things that need to be known and taken into account by the teacher as well as possible. To collect the data, the researchers used semi-structure interview and the obtained data were analyzed with descriptive-qualitative method.The result showed that there are three dominant aspects of classroom management system, namely; curriculum and instructional management’s (i.e. curriculum planning, making the lesson plan, scheduling, method implementation learning and assessment), management behavior (i.e. teacher sets and enforces the rules and the procedure, teacher starts the lesson, teacher builds relationships with students, teachers apply discipline and consequences and teacher is involved in the process learning), and management of the environment (i.e. class settings namely structuring furniture and determining the number of students)
The 6+1 Trait Writing Model to Build Up Students’ Writing
This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the 6+1 trait writing model and its impacts on students' writing achievement. It is focused on the students' improvement based on the five processes of writing which connected with analytic rubrics six-trait. Writing is the activity that requires students to systematically follow step by step to get professional results. Systematically compiled writing can help the reader to understand what the writer wants to convey. Writing requires an assessment to determine whether the writing is good or not. Writing appraisals can be categorized based on the assessment rubric that used. Analytic rubric six-trait is able to provide a detailed assessment and covers all aspects of the writing phase. To get the aim of the study, this study implemented experiment research by quantitative methods. The study was conducted on students’ of PondokPesantren DDI At-TaqwaJampuePinrang by using written tests. Based on the analysis, it is found that the students' writing was improved in four categories out of six categories. It can be seen by looking at the t-test which is higher than the t-table value for each category. The analytic rubric six trait may be a tool to measure the students' writing improvement based on the six categories in the writing element. 
An Investigation into The Grammatical Errors of Students’ Writing
Writing serves as a tool for students to extend their grammatical composition, enrich their lexicon, and increase other language abilities, such as reading, listening, and speaking. This study intends to examine written features and analyze frequent errors of students' grammar in writing. Employing a qualitative descriptive research method, the samples were chosen based on convenience samples. The participants were high schoolers studying at their Year 10, whose English language competence is at an average grade. The students practiced descriptive writing and grammar rules. Four students submitted their essays analyzed using content analysis. The assessment criteria were analyzed using a framework of grammatical errors by James (1998), which classify errors into nine (9) categories (prepositions, articles, singular/plural, adjectives, irregular verbs, tenses, concord, possessive case, and passive/active). The study found 73 errors in students’ writing. The top three errors found were prepositions, articles, and tenses, in a particular order. The next identified errors were singular/plural, concord, possessive case, and irregular verbs. Some pedagogical implications deriving from the study were also highlighted. The present study suggests the need for EFL teachers to improve their skills in marking and giving feedback toward student writing. This will, in turn, improve students’ writing skills
Using Social Interactive Writing for English Language Learners (SWELL) with Fairy Tales Videos in Teaching Writing
This research aims to investigate whether the use of SWELL method with fairy tale videos improves the students’ writing ability and to find out which writing components mostly affected by the use of SWELL method. This research was conducted using a quasi-experimental design. The population of the research was the second grade students of SMPN 5 Marioriawa in academic year 2015/2016 which consisted of two classes (56 students). The sample was drawn using cluster random technique. The number of students in the class was 28 students. The research instrument used was writing test. The data obtained through the test were analyzed quantitatively by using 21.0 version of SPSS program. Based on the data analysis, the research findings reveals that there is a significant differentce of the students’ writing skill after being taught by using SWELL method. It is proved by the data that had been processed through SPSS program. The result showed that the mean score of students in experimental group was greater than the mean score in control group (85.03>67.180, with t-test value is lower than the probability value (0.000<0.05). It indicates that there is a significant improvement of students’ writing ability after the treatment. The writing skill of the second grade students of SMPN 5 Maroriawa can be improved significantly by using SWELL method with fairy tale videos. For the writing components that mostly affected by SWELL method. For different aspects of writing, content, organization, vocabulary, language use and mechanic, vocabulary is the most affected by the use SWELL method. The highest score in term of vocabulary was 18 with the percentage 90 with the highest converted score 87.55 categorized as very good categorization
Application of A Joyful Learning Strategy Based on Humor Communication to Improve the Interests and Achievements of Learning English
Enhancing the quality of education in particular to improve the quality of students, a teacher must also improve their selves to delivering better learning innovations and one of those efforts by Using appropriate learning strategies so that the material delivered by the teacher can be young to be understood by students. The strategy in question is communicating with humor. The use of humor in the learning process is a medium for educators to students in transferring their knowledge because with humor can create better communication so that the classroom atmosphere is more comfortable. The purpose of this research had three important stages, including 1) to find out a lecture communication with students can be better so that through communication with humor can reduce the problem of lecturers with Students of which currently margined violence cases between lecturers and students, 2) increased achievement of learners learning because through humor communication through joy full learning students will learn more relaxed without any pressure so Easier to do tasks, 3) increased achievement and interest in students ' study in English courses as a General basic course. The method used in this research was the experimental Research design (quasi) method using the control class and experiment class. The study used three research instruments: interview, student observation (participant observation), student learning results. The results showed that there were differences in the pre-test and post-test values in experimental classes and the control class as well as the results of independent analysis of T-test result of Sig (2-tailed) 0.00 where the result of this value is smaller than 0.05. Indicates there is a significant difference between the Ecperimental and control classes in terms of application of the Stratei Learning Joyfull Learning-based humor to increase the interest and achievement of English learning as a public course in students STIE Yapman Majene
