This paper has discussed how Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) can affect performances among employees at Kyela District, Tanzania. In particular, it examines how employee performance at the Kyela District Council is impacted by career advancement, training and development, and pay. Since the Cochran sample size formula will be used to establish the sample size (n=116), the type of research design to be used in the study is explanatory. The participants were chosen by simple random sampling. A questionnaire is the method used to collect the data. Multiple regression analysis and descriptive statistical analysis are used to analyze the data sizes. According to these results, employee performance is significantly improved by training and development (.269, t=4.567, p<0.001). With a coefficient value of 0.417, a t-value of 7.085, and a p-value of less than 0.001, career development and employee performance are closely correlated. Additionally, it is found that employee performance is positively and significantly impacted by compensation (b = 0.399, t = 5.483, p < 0.001). With a coefficient of determination (R 2 = 0.333), which indicates that the three variables account for 33.3 percent of the variance in employee performance, the analysis generally demonstrates that SHRM has a fair impact on employee performance. Compensation, job advancement, and training and development all have statistically significant effects in predicting employee performance. According to the report, in order to boost employee performance, the Kyela District Council's management team should strengthen their SHRM practices. To provide a more comprehensive picture, a comparative study using similar approaches in several areas would also be suggested. The study aims to examine the effects of non-tariff barriers (NTBs) on East African regional trade between Tanzania and Kenya at the Namanga One Stop Border Post (OSBP). The study was grounded in Custom Union Theory, and employed a mixed methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative designs. It was conducted in Namanga, Tanzania, using purposive and convenience sampling techniques. A sample of 60 respondents was selected out of 150 population size, which included Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) officers, truck drivers, and businessmen. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and key informant interviews, with additional secondary data from relevant reports and literature review. The analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and linear regression models to quantify the impact of NTBs on trade. The findings revealed that NTBs significantly increase the cost of doing business, lead to delays, and reduce market access, contributing to inefficiencies in cross-border trade. Key NTBs identified include excessive police roadblocks, multiple weighbridges, and lengthy procedures for product quality verification. The study concluded that addressing NTBs through improved border infrastructure, reducing the number of weighbridges, and eliminating political interference in trade would enhance trade efficiency at the Namanga OSBP. The study recommends enhancing network systems, revising NTB regulations, and facilitating regular stakeholder‟s meetings to resolve trade challenges and promote seamless cross-border trade. Analysis of Cultural Factors Influencing Gender Inequality in Secondary Education, Tanzania - A Case Study of Schools in Kahama Municipality.

    No full text
This study examines the cultural factors influencing gender inequality in secondary education within Kahama Municipality, Tanzania. Despite governmental efforts toward gender equality, significant disparities persist, driven largely by deep-rooted cultural norms at family, societal, and institutional levels. The research employs a mixed-methods approach with a convergent parallel design, collecting data from students, teachers, and parents across selected secondary schools. Using Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions Theory as a theoretical framework, the study investigates family-level decisions, societal expectations, and institutional practices that limit educational opportunities for girls. The findings reveal that family perceptions of boys’ education as a priority, societal norms favoring early marriage, and institutional biases in school infrastructure and teacher expectations all contribute to gender inequality. These insights underscore the need for culturally sensitive policies and community awareness programs to challenge stereotypes and promote equal educational access. This study contributes to the understanding of gender disparities in education and offers recommendations for policymakers, educators, and community leaders to support gender equity in Tanzania’s rural and semi-urban educational contexts
