Effective privacy preserving in cloud computing using position aware Merkle tree model

    Get PDF
In this research manuscript, a new protocol is proposed for predicting the available space in the cloud and verifying the security of stored data. The protocol is utilized for learning the available data, and based on this learning, the available storage space is identified, after which the cloud service providers allow for data storage. The Integrity verification separates the private and the public data, which avoids privacy issues. The integration of the private data is done with the help of cloud service providers with respect to the third-party auditing (TPA). Earlier, public key cryptography and bilinear map technologies have been combined by the researchers, but the computation time and costs were high. To secure the integrity of the data storage, the client should execute several computations. Therefore, this research suggests a reliable and effective method called position-aware Merkle tree (PMT), which is implemented for ensuring data integrity. The proposed system uses a PMT that enables the TPA to perform multiple auditing tasks with high efficiency, less computational cost and computation time. Simulation results clearly shows that the developed PMT method consumed 0.00459 milliseconds of computation time, which is limited when compared to the existing models

Multi-priority scheduling algorithm for scientific workflows in cloud

    Get PDF
The public cloud environment has emerged as a promising platform for exe-cuting scientific workflows. These executions involve leasing virtual machines (VMs) from public services for the duration of the workflow. The structure of the workflows significantly impacts the performance of any proposed scheduling approach. A task within a workflow cannot begin its execution before receiving all the required data from its preceding tasks. In this paper, we introduce a multi-priority scheduling approach for executing workflow tasks in the cloud. The key component of the proposed approach is a mechanism that logically or-ders and groups workflow tasks based on their data dependencies and locality. Using the proposed approach, the number of available VMs influences the num-ber of groups (partitions) obtained. Based on the locality of each group’s tasks, the priority of each group is determined to reduce the overall execution delay and improve VM utilization. As the results demonstrate, the proposed approach achieves a significant reduction in both execution costs and time in most scenar-io

Development of Arduino applications for IoT applications in software engineering education: a systematic literature review

    Get PDF
The continuous development of software applications is a necessary step in producing high-quality products that will consistently meet end-user expectations and stakeholder needs. Development of Arduino applications, embedded in a product’s hardware, can and should be considered at the software engineering phase itself, even though current practice dictates it be handled by product engineers. The method used in this investigation was based on a systematic literature review (SLR). Therefore, this paper depicts a gap that currently exists within the body of literature surrounding the development of Arduino applications for ‘internet of things’ (IoT) applications in software engineering education in commercial and research fields. The result of this study are two findings investigates: i) relevant Arduino application development used in software engineering and ii) method for applying software engineering for Arduino applications. The limitations and constraints of each technique in respect to Arduino apps were also examined in order to provide a better understanding of each body of study's weaknesses and strengths. We realise that these studies are still insufficient and need to be evaluated and improved further

Evaluation of steady-state ground resistance by field measurement and CDEGS computation

    Get PDF
In addition to the soil resistivity and size of the grounding system, grounding system configuration can influence the steady-state resistance (RDC) of a grounding system. The RDC of four to six configurations in three distinct soil conditions (sites 1 to 3) is measured using the fall-of-potential method and computed using the current distribution, electromagnetic fields, grounding, and soil structure analysis (CDEGS) simulation. The RDC value generally decreases as size increases, i.e., when more rods or tapes are added, except for a little variation subject to the electrode arrangement and soil resistivity. The 3 and 4-parallel configurations perform better on low resistivity soil (site 1), while the grid configurations (2×2- and 3-rod grids) are better on high resistivity soil (site 2). The difference between the measured and computed values at high soil resistivity sites (sites 2 and 3) is large, ranging from 18% to 66% for site 2 and from 35% to 53% for site 3. The difference is lower and more consistent at site 1, where five out of six configurations achieve less than 10%. At all sites, the difference between computed and measured RDCs generally decreases as the area of the electrode increases, except for some cases at site 2

System design of a microstrip antenna by dimension and substrates optimization

    Get PDF
The microstrip antennas matured and improved over the last 25 years. Throughout these years, the limitations, and specifications of the said antennas have been overcome and significantly improved. Known to be lowprofile, suitable for mobile, and lightweight, these microstrip antennas are the focus of this research. In this paper, the researchers designed a microstrip antenna with varying lengths and substrates. They tested the changes and the effects in microstrip antennas of different lengths, along with altering substrates. To verify the differences, the researchers compared the performance parameters maximum gain (dBi), minimum gain (dBi), and S11 graph on each tested length and changed substrate. The rough set theory was used to determine the optimal design via MATLAB. From there, the researchers analyzed the results gathered and drew their respective conclusions. Additionally, they saw and compared each data result to know what antenna has the best performance parameters. From the results, a change in the dimension will result in a decrease in the said performance parameters. Furthermore, the change in substrate thickness also diminishes these changes

Sentiment analysis with hotel customer reviews using FNet

    Get PDF
Recent research has focused on opinion mining from public sentiments using natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML) techniques. Transformer-based models, such as bidirectional encoder representations from transformers (BERT), excel in extracting semantic information but are resourceintensive. Google’s new research, mixing tokens with fourier transform, also known as FNet, replaced BERT’s attention mechanism with a non-parameterized fourier transform, aiming to reduce training time without compromising performance. This study fine-tuned the FNet model with a publicly available Kaggle hotel review dataset and investigated the performance of this dataset in both FNet and BERT architectures along with conventional machine learning models such as long short-term memory (LSTM) and support vector machine (SVM). Results revealed that FNet significantly reduces the training time by almost 20% and memory utilization by nearly 60% compared to BERT. The highest test accuracy observed in this experiment by FNet was 80.27% which is nearly 97.85% of BERT’s performance with identical parameters

Design and development of automatic voltage regulator using Ziegler-Nichols PID for electrical irons testing

    Get PDF
This research presents an automated voltage regulation system crucial for a power input test of electric irons based on SNI IEC 60335-2-3 clause 11.4. The system is designed with an Arduino-based proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control mechanism to augment voltage stability and meet the standard requirement. The system comprises a microcontroller for PID control, a dimmer as the actuator, and a voltage sensor for error measurement. It utilizes the Ziegler-Nichols (Z-N) oscillation method to determine the PID control parameters. The simulation results identified a third-order transfer function as the best fit for the system, and the optimal PID parameters for the system are Kp=60, Ki=125, and Kd=500. The system was tested under the electric iron's active and non-active conditions. The proposed PID system demonstrated stable responses, effectively regulating the system voltage with minimal overshoot and settling time, and meeting standard requirements even under varying load conditions. It suggests potential applications beyond electric iron testing, promising efficiency improvements in broader household product testing

    Get PDF
The instrumentation design of an online monitoring device for aquaculture media is discussed in this article. The main processor in this internet of things (IoT) real-time telemetry system is an ESP32 board. Temperature, acidity level, conductivity level, dissolved oxygen (DO) level, and degree of oxygen reduction in the water were the aquaculture parameters measured. The ESP32 collects data from each sensor, groups it into a dataset, displays it on the LCD, saves it to the SD card, and then uploads it to the real-time database. In addition, an Android application is being developed for users. This device has been tested to ensure that each measured parameter is accurate and precise. The accuracy test, one of the major results of laboratory scale tests, demonstrates that each parameter has a different measurement error that represents with average error absolute. Six tested sensors/instruments were subjected to the test. Average absolute error for temperature sensor is +0.76%, pH sensor is +1.52%, electrical conductivity (EC) sensor is +10.8%, oxidation reduction potential (ORP) sensor is +14.6%, DO sensor is +9.3%, and total dissolve solids (TDS) sensor is +13.2%. This device is very dependable and convenient for monitoring the condition of aquaculture media in real-time and accurately

    Get PDF
Interest in using ebooks by the academic community is very high. Still, there is a problem when readers are reading through screens, tend to read fast, only scan the necessary parts, and don't focus on paying attention to the content they read, so this reduces the quality of reading because readers don't study the overall meaning of the sentence. Hence, this research aims to build an interactive reader system by integrating eye tracker technology with a webcam which is expected to solve the problem of decreasing the quality of reading through the screen by helping readers stay focused on their reading and providing an interactive system that makes it easier for readers to control the computer while reading. This research adopts the waterfall method and is divided into six stages. The system is designed using class diagrams, use case diagrams, and activity diagrams. Also, the system is built using the Python language with the Django framework. Then, the interactive reader system was tested using black box testing and usability testing methods. Based on the test results, it is shown that the interactive reader system that was built can help improve the quality and concentration when reading activities take place
