Issues Surrounding Ferdinand Buisson's Secular Moral Education : The Faith, Reason, and Freedom behind the Protestant Belief in Secularization
Get PDFFerdinand Buisson was a French Protestant and a leading representative of and advocate for Secularism in the French Third Republic. Until now, there has been a tendency to explain his system of thought based only upon his biographical background. It is important, however, first to analyze his literary works from the context of the Third Republic in France, and then, from that point, to reconstruct his theoretical system. This paper places a priority on carefully reexamining the historical context of the Third Republic in France, an examination which serves consequently as the necessary premise for properly understanding the texts of French Secularism.18P論文Articledepartmental bulletin pape
