Explanatory Definitions of the Technology Push Success Factors
The main task for most development-intensive organizations is to create, develop and commercialize new products and services. Because development processes are risky and failure rates are high, especially in the case of technology pushed projects, unambiguous success factors are valuable knowledge for the management of development-intensive firms. New product development and innovation literature has presented many success factors for developed products, but, unfortunately, many of them are nebulous in nature. The aim of this paper is to clarify what elements comprise the exact factors. After an extensive review and screening of the technology push success factor related literature, a total of 13 success factors were rationalized and transcribed according the previous literature. As a result, three separate keynotes were recognized, and the survey instrument framework was proposed. The practical relevance of this study is to help firm management to recognize the real actions needed to reduce product development risks and also to help scholars to focus on key issues when studying the key factors of breakthrough development cases
Analysis of Preference of Incentives to Innovation of Dominican Manufacturing and Service Firms
In this paper is analyzed the structure of preference of incentives to innovation of Dominican manufacturing and services firms. The analysis of preference was carried out using a Conjoint Analysis. In total 326 firms were surveyed across the country. According to the main findings, Dominican firms prefer combinations of incentives to minimize tax liabilities but also to reduce uncertainty related to innovation activities. In terms of preference, no statistically significant differences between manufacturing and service firms were found
Brazilian Incubators and Science Parks’ resources and R&D collaboration
One initiative largely stimulated through public policy to strengthen firms’ innovation capacity is the creation and consolidation of Incubators and Science & Technology Parks (ISTPs). These habitats aim to foster innovation through, among other methods, the promotion of resource complementarity and action interdependence. Empirical studies, however, have not been conclusive about this. This article analyse the relations between resources provided by ISTPs and the elements of collaborative R&D. We conducted a survey with Brazilian ISTPs and analysed the results using a quantitative multilevel approach. Our study suggests that these innovative environments do affect collaborative R&D, but not by through the services and infrastructure they provide. We indicate possible alternatives to support future studies that analyse ISTPs in emerging countries
Collaborative Platforms for Supply Chain Integration: Trajectory, Assimilation of Platforms and Results
The transparency provided by information technology (IT) allows companies to reposition themselves in the production chain and dynamically collaborate with other companies for the purpose of optimizing their business. Thus, based on this context, this study aims to analyze the trajectory of the use of collaborative platforms to integrate supply chains based on two cases depicting different aspects of implementing supply chain collaboration practices. According to examination of these cases, interesting lessons are derived regarding the suitability and criticality of the technological approach used to support collaboration, especially regarding the use of a centralized web platform. This study provides insights for managers related to using collaborative tools and reinforcing routes established for practices when seeking to improve integrative capability
Technology Transfer Model Proposal in Public Research Institutions: The Search for a more Effective Process in the Broiler Chain in Brazil
Brazilian agricultural and livestock represent 22.54% of the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product. The Brazilian Agricultural and Livestock Research Company aims to develop technologic solutions for this sector. It has an approximate annual budget of 2.5 million dollars and 2,440 researchers. The researches target audience diversity makes more challenging the Technology Transfer process for the institution. The objective of this article was the proposal and validation, under the perception of the broiler productive chain agents, of a Technology Transfer model to optimize the public-private interaction for the institution. Were interviewed 142 agents, with a statistically significant sample, higher than 95%. The results demonstrated the contribution of Embrapa for the technological development of the chain is perceived as low, but the Technology Transfer model presented was considered essential by 96.77% of the respondents to optimize the Technology Transfer of Embrapa Pigs and Poultry to the chain

Sustainability Initiatives Driving Supply Chain: Climate Governance on Beef Production System
Two conceptual frameworks have been analytically dominant in researching innovation dynamics in sustainability transition processes, namely technological innovation systems (TIS) and the multi-level perspective (MLP). The innovation systems has been principally concerned with emerging new technologies and their potential contribution to future sustainability, whereas MLP has been more strongly oriented toward reconstructing historical processes of sectorial change.In this perspective, this study aims to analyses how global climate change and environmental pressures impact on the governance of supply chain and the ripple effects on natural resource-intensive economies. Some initiatives are taken to address regulatory issues and reconcile decision-making tools on quality assurance program on value chains. This includes a multi-level perspective (MLP) as Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and technological innovation systems (TIS) as Geographic Information System (GIS) used as a tracking system for monitoring sustainable practices.The paper discuss the drivers of sustainable beef production system, mainly in Legal Amazon, Brazil, and requirements from a largest retailer aligned to Brazilian public policies. Fuentes de Conocimiento en Empresas Biotecnológicas
Los resultados empíricos respecto a cómo las empresas obtienen el conocimiento externo, sobre todo en sectores intensivos en conocimiento, no han sido concluyentes. Mientras que la mayoría de los estudios previos considera para el análisis un mecanismo de acceso al conocimiento, el presente estudio considera tres mecanismos: relaciones formales e informales y movilidad laboral. El estudio es cualitativo, exploratorio, aplicado a la industria biotecnológica de la región occidente de México. Los resultados muestran que más de la mitad de los vínculos para obtener el conocimiento se establecen a nivel regional, predominando las relaciones formales. Sin embargo, los resultados sugieren que es el conocimiento adquirido a nivel internacional el que confiere a la empresa una competitividad de clase mundial
The Measurement of Entrepreneurial Outsourcing: Preliminary Scale Development, Dimensionality Assessment, and Construct Validation
Studying the outsourcing concept, as a strategy for efficient and effective business management, has been implemented less in the field of entrepreneurship. Accordingly, the present study aims to develop a measurement instrument for measuring entrepreneurial outsourcing construct utilizing empirical evidence in Iran’s telecommunications and automotive industries. Employing a sample of 203 senior managers and executive experts of companies operating in these industries, the gathered data were analyzed using PLS-SEM method. According to our results, the proposed scale of entrepreneurial outsourcing comprises six dimensions: strategic factors, economical factors, technological factors, task specifications, risk relating factors, and entrepreneurial performance. Moreover, the scale enjoys sufficient multidimensionality, reliability, and construct validity in terms of convergent and discriminate validity
Identificación de Factores Clave en la Cultura de Innovación. El Caso de la Mediana Minería en Chile
La cultura de innovación promueve acciones, normas, valores y actitudes estrechamente ligadas a la mejora continua y la creación de nuevos conocimientos en el marco de una cultura organizacional sustentable y, a la vez, innovadora que permita generar valor para la empresa y para el cliente. Este estudio prioriza las dimensiones que conforman la cultura de innovación de las empresas productoras de la minería de mediana escala. En base al juicio de expertos, se desarrolló un modelo utilizando la metodología multicriterio AHP para identificar las distintas dimensiones en las cuales se debe focalizar los recursos para una gestión sustentable. Los resultados demuestran que, el estilo de la dirección y las competencias y habilidades del capital humano, determinan en gran medida el potencial de innovación de las empresas así como su capacidad para establecer una sustentabilidad de tipo corporativo. Se concluye que es necesario potenciar estos factores en el sistema organizacional así como otros procesos culturales para generar concepciones creativas y una cultura innovadora
