Public Library Participation in the National Fadama Development Project (NFDP) in Nigeria
The paper focuses on public library participation in the National Fadama Development Project (NFDP) in Nigeria. It traces agricultural development programmes in Nigeria from the farm settlement schemes (FSS), National Accelerated Food Production programme (NAFPP), the Operation Feed the Nation (OFN), Green Revolution Programme, to the World Bank-funded Agricultural Development Projects (ADPs). It specifically highlights the activities of the World Bank sponsored Fadama Project in Nigeria and discusses the participatory role of the public library in the effective implementation of the Fadama Project. Some of the identified roles of the public library include acquisition of relevant materials, exhibition and display, repackaging of information on Fadama project, publications and jingle, and maintenance of database on Fadama project. AUTOMATION IN UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES OF NIGERIA: A REVIEW
Automation in university libraries of Nigeria is far long been realized as an alternative to traditional methods of information handling for the sole aim of providing better services and above all meeting the clients needs. NATIONAL URDU INFORMATION SYSTEM: A PROPOSAL
The paper highlights role of Information Systems, enumerating importance of Urdu language, the Government efforts for promotion of Urdu and present status of Urdu library and information centres in the India. USE AND NON-USE OF INFORMATION RESOURCES BY LOW-RANKING INDUSTRIAL EMPLOYEES IN NIGERIA
The paper is a report of a survey to understand utilization of different information resources by junior staff of industries in Nigeria. The data collected through a structured questionnaire, sent to an industrial centre in each of the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, reveal from that 44% of the respondents need information for various economic reasons which are met through book and non-book sources. Further analysis reflects that 75% of the industries have no library services, which leads to more than 60% of the staff to adopt different information seeking strategies like discussions, audio-visual sources and visiting newspapers stands. The paper lists some suggestions to promote provision and utilization of information resources in Nigerian industrial organizations.KEYWORDS : Information Resources-Use; Low Rank Industrial Employees-Nigeri
