Einstein’s Image Compression Algorithm: Version 1.00
Purpose: The Einstein’s compression technique is a new method of compression and decompression of images by matrix addition and the possible sequence of the sum. The main purpose of implementing a new algorithm is to reduce the complexity of algorithms used for image compression in recent days. The major advantage of this technique is that the compression is highly secure and highly compressed. This method does not use earlier compression techniques. This method of compression is a rastor compression. This method can be used for astronomical images and medical images because the image compression is considered to be lossless.Design/Methodology/Approach: The idea uses the previous literature as a base to explore the use of image compression technique.Findings: This type of compression can be used to reduce the size of the database for non- frequently used important data. This technique of compression will be in future used for compression of colour images and will be researched for file compression also.Social Implications: This idea of image compression is expected to create a new technique of image compression and will promote more researchers to research more on this type of compressionOriginality/Value: The idea intends to create a new technique of compression in the compression of image research. Keywords: Image Compression; Einstein’s Image Compression; New Compression Technique; Matrix Addition Based Compression.Paper Type: Technica
Open Source Tools for Varied Professions
Purpose: The popularity of open source software in contemporary world with the emergence of globally distributed base of developers, contributors and users has given new identity to the present software development industry with growing use of freely available software tools along with the source code by non-profit organisations, universities and commercial establishments to suit their varied requirements. The success of such software tools is evident with the growing number of downloads and users from diverse professions. The present paper makes an attempt to explore some of the most Prominent Open Source tools used for highly specialised professional tasks in the fields of Business Management and Health.Design/Methodology/Approach:Six most prominent open source tools available in both categories have been identified and discussed based on the popularity owing to number of downloads and prominent features that catch user attention for using such software.Implication:These tools not only provide means for managing resources in a more sophisticated manner but also provides ample opportunity for non-profit organisations and commercial establishments to attain their goals by taking advantage of prominent features and utilities of such software.Research Limitations:The paper only highlights prominent open source software tools available in two fields based on their specialised utilities best suited for professional requirements and operations. The scope can further be extended to reveal user satisfaction by way of analysing the experiences of working with such software in different setups. Keywords: Open Source Software, Business Management, Health.Paper Type: Articl
USE OF INTERNET IN HIGHER EDUCATION: A SURVEY OF FACULTY MEMBERS OF ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY
The paper examines the use of Internet by the faculty members of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. The study includes search behaviour and difficulties confronted by the faculty members while browsing Internet and opinion about available Infrastructure Acilities in the university etc. Printed questionnaires were administered among faculty members of all departments in AMU, Aligarh. The result of the study shows that E-mail and World Wide Web are the most used Internet services besides a good number of users facing difficulties while searching especially those accessing from respective departments. The majority of users are not satisfied with the infrastructure facilities of the university for the service. The paper presents several suggestions for the further improvement of the services

Online Journals in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU): A User Survey
With a sharp rise in the quantum of journals, every modern library has adopted them as an economically viable alternative to the print media. Some of the publishing agencies like the Chemical Abstracts Society have gone to the extent of bringing out only the soft copies. This paper is an attempt to assess the state of art of one of the most modern university libraries of the country, Jawaharlal Nehru University Library (New Delhi). Data for the study was collected through survey method from the students, research scholars and faculty members on various aspects of services pertaining to online journals accessible in the University. The role of online journals and their utilization in higher education has been discussed, focusing mainly on examining the status of the services available, their clientele, purpose and hurdles in retrieval. The user perception of services as well as the remedial measures for further improvement is discussed.KEYWORDS : Use Studies; User Studies; Online Journals; e-Resource Usage; Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU)PAPER TYPE: Survey cum Researc
DESIGNING AN INTERFACE FOR MULTILINGUAL AND MULTISCRIPT DATABASE OF MEDIEVAL MANUSCRIPTS
The paper discusses the design of an interface for developing a database of 'medieval manuscripts' for accommodating data elements inmultilingual and multiscript medium especially in Arabic, Urdie, and Persian using 'Unicode character sets' with Visual Basic in front end and Ms Access in back end.KEYWORDS :Unicode, Multilingual Interface, Medieval Manuscripts

MT-Based Query Translation CL1R Meets Frequent Case Generation
The paper introduces the evaluation results of Cross Language Information Retrieval(CLIR) for three target languages, Finnish, German and Swedish using English as the source language. Our CLLR approach is based on machine translation of topics and usage of the Frequent Case Generation (FCG) method for management of query term variation in translated topics and retrieval in inflected indexes. Retrieval results of more standard query term variation management approaches, such as stemming and lemmatization of translated topics, are also shown. Results of the paper show, that when machine translation of queries are combined with FCG, results can be at best very promising. The besi Machine Translation (MT) programs seem to translate standard laboratory type Information Retrieval (IR) topics quite well at least from the query performance point of view. Few times the translated queries perform as well as or slightly better than the monolingual baseline. Many times differences to monolingual baseline are small.PAPER TYPE: Research PaperKEYWORDS: Machine Translation; Cross Language Information Retrieval (CLIR); Frequent Case Generation (FCG); Information Retrieval (IR); Stemming; Lemmitizatio
World Digital Library: A Case Study
Purpose: The study reports the aim and features of the World Digital Library (WDL), one of the pioneer projects reflecting the beauty of digital preservation. The study analyzes the contribution of resources continent wise, type, lingual pattern, time period, subjects covered and institutions to WDL.Methodology/Approach: The study is based on the content analysis of WDL. Findings: The study clearly reflects a growing trend of cultural and heritage resources in WDL.Future Implications: The study can be taken a step forward by researching the digital preservation strategies adopted by WDL to safeguard the global heritage wealth.Social Implications: The study can be an initiator at individual, institutional, regional, national and global level to contribute for enrichment of cultural tastes in WDL.Keywords: Digital libraries; Digital preservation; Heritage; Culture; Heritage preservation; World Digital Library (WDL)Paper Type: Researc
