    The Linguistic Construction of Associative Personal Labelization of Facebookers’ Nicks

    This study investigates nicks (nicknames) of Facebook users (Facebookers). It specifically reveals the process of how Facebookers associate themselves with their nicknames and with all things around them. This study also finds out the factors that contribute to the choice of Facebookers to use their nicknames. This study uses sociolinguistic to approach the data. The data were obtained by using content analysis method. The data analysis method used to analyze the data was the Correlation Method with referents as the determining elements. The result of the study shows that there are personal identities associated to the nicknames used by Facebook users. It also shows that the uses of the nicknames by the Facebook users are influenced by their personal fancies (personal labelization). Besides, there are fifteen factors contributing to the choices of nicks (nicknames) by Facebook users, five major reasons that caused the informants to create the unique nicks and three issues which can be summarized related to personal autolabelization phenomena

    This article is a result of literature review that aims to explain teacher talk in context of teaching and learning German as a foreign language at senior high schools. Therefore, some relevant theories are studied, reviewed, compared and presented by the author in order to obtain the aims of this research. The result showed that teaching and learning German as a foreign language, German language should be applied by the students not only as a learning object but also as their daily practice. German language as the teacher talk has a broad influence towards students’ German learning outcomes. Based on the general purpose of teacher talk, which is to make the delivered message easily understood by the students, teachers use modified German language in teaching and learning process. In this case, teachers modify their language to fit the students’ German skill by considering the linguistic order such as simplifying sentences, talking slowly, making the clearer articulation, and using vocabulary that has been known by the students. To discover the tendency of German language used by teachers in class, it is necessary to analyze teacher talk. To analyze teacher talk we can use Flanders Interaction Analysis Categories (FIAC).     Hedges Expressions in Confessional Discourse of Ida Craddock’s Suicide Notes

    Some people commited suicide tried to express what they felt and left message explaining the causes of why they committed suicide. The suicide note was written by the person who commited suicide as a purpose to give a sign to other people. One of those people was Ida Craddck who was a 19th century American. She advocated freedom of speech and women rights who committed suicide because of inappropriate decision from the judge. Her books were prosecuted by Anthony Comstock as obscene literature. This study was aimed to examine the hedges expressions that maintained the functions of confessional texts which were used by Craddock. The results found that hedges were used on her confessions to support her criticism and wish to the public. Those criticism and wish were confessed by Craddock to aware the public about people’s freedom condition. Her confessions had function to tell her personal story that led her to suicide which could be learnt by other people so that they could have a better life. Finally, hedges were used to express her uncertainty of the truth of what she confessed about her cause of death

    Interferensi adalah adanya kemiripan beberapa kata terutama bahasa-bahasa, yang masih serumpun. Seperti halnya suku-¬suku bangsa di Indonesia lainnya, sebagian besar masyarakat suku tolaki di samping menggunakan bahasa daerah sebagai alat komunikasi juga menggunakan bahasa Indonesia. Namun, dalam penggunaan kedua bahasa tersebut ada yang mampu menggunakannya sesuai dengan norma-norma masing-masing bahasa tersebut, tetapi adapula yang kurang mampu, terutama siswa sekolah menengah atas yang belajar bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa kedua. Pemakaian bahasa Indonesia oleh siswa tersebut akan dipengaruhi oleh bahasa tolaki, baik sistemnya maupun dalam bentuk bunyinya. Masalah penelitian ini adalah “Interferensi Fonologis Bahasa Tolaki dalam Penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia Siswa Kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Tongauna”. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memperoleh data dan informasi yang jelas tentang interferensi fonologis bahasa tolaki dalam penggunaan bahasa Indonesia siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Tongauna. Manfaat penelitian ini yaitu dapat memberikan informasi faktual tentang kemampuan menggunakan bahasa Indonesia siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Tongauna, sebagai bahan masukan bagi pengambil kebijakan dalam upaya meningkatkan pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di SMA dan sebagai bahan informasi bagi peneliti selanjutnya yang sifatnya lebih mendalam dan relevan dengan objek penelitian ini. Jenis Penelitian ini penelitian lapangan karena peneliti terlibat langsung dilapangan atau ke sekolah tempat sampel untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian. Data penelitian ini adalah data lisan yakni berupa tuturan bahasa Tolaki yang disampaikan dalam bercerita oleh siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Tongauna, yang direkam melalui tape recorder. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Tongauna sebagai penutur asli yang menggunakan bahasa daerah Tolaki sebagai bahasa ibu atau bahasa pertama. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik observasi, teknik rekam dan teknik wawancara.     The collaboration of technology and media can have positive effects on teaching and learning. In modern teaching traditions, teachers must include technology into their teaching and must be able to select a suitable media so they can deliver lessons in the classroom effectively and can achieve the learning goal. This study is going to explore and elaborate the effectiveness of incorporating technology in learning process by using a media to get more engaging learning situation and to know its impacts to the students’ learning achievements, especially to their fluency and public speaking skill. To be specific, this study is trying to implement Video Blog (Vlog) as learning media in English speaking subject. The results of the observation show that, training students’ fluency and public speaking by implementing Vlog as learning media give positive impacts to the students. Vlog increases students’ encouragement in speaking. Vlog can provide fun and enjoyable learning process and it can build confidence

The index aspect is in the form of actor actions in the form of exoticism, anxiety, admiration, exoticism, and the imagination of the actor.     This research discusses the community of women writers in Sidoarjo using a feminist sociological perspective. The purpose of this research is to formulate the pattern of relations of this community with the structure of the field of authorship using Bourdieu's perspective. The research method used is qualitative with descriptive patterns. Data were collected using a combination of interview and documentation techniques using library research procedures. The results showed that this community of women writers had an awareness of the existence of dominant-dominated binary opposition structures and included aspects of gender considerations in their authorship strategies, but they chose patterns as used in universalist feminism

    In learning process, a good teacher indeed needs a strategy to create a conducive learning environment in order that it runs smoothly. The Ron Clark Story Movie depicts how a teacher uses various strategies to create a conducive classroom environment so that the learning process can run well. The purposes of this research are to identify what strategies used by the teacher, Mr. Clark, to create a conducive learning environment in The Ron Clark Story Movie and to describe how the strategies  are implemented by the teacher to create a condusive learning environment in the Movie. This study was designed qualitatively. The data of this study were scenes on the teacher’s strategies to create a conducive learning environment  in the movie. The source of data in this study was a movie entitled The Ron Clark Story.It was found that Mr. Clark used 5 types of teacher’s strategies to create a conducive classroom environment: physical design of the classroom, rules and routines, relationship, engaging and motivation, and discipline. Each of the strategies has several classifications. By applying these strategies, the students of Mr. Clark finally succeeded in passing the exam with satisfactory grades

    Digital learning has become one of the demands of life to prepare students to become part of global society 5.0. as cultured human being. For this reason, it is very important that students learn to be creative, collaborative, communicative, and able to think critically. However, to achieve those all, the teacher really has to work hard in designing 4C learning. The purpose of this research is to describe the implementation of Edpuzzle to improve the students’analytical thinking skill in Narrative text at SMPN 2 Sidoarjo in the academic year 2018/2019 by using  Edpuzzle in the even semester. The method used in this research is case study. It develops a detail background, case, investigation to solve a problem. The results obtained are: (1) The use of Edpuzzle can improve students’ analytical thinking skill, especially in Narrative text at SMPN 2 Sidoarjo (2) The use of Edpuzzle in the classroom is conducted and implemented with PISA method (Preliminarily, Intensive learning, Self-study and Assessment). This application is specifically used to overcome students' understanding and analytical thinking skills at a higher level. Students also increase their creativity in creating writing content that educates and promotes the Indonesian stories to the international languages

    The Effect of Authentic Reading Material to Enhance Students' Reading Comprehension

    This study aimed to find out the extent to which authentic material enhance students’ reading comprehension. This study used quasi-experimental design that consists of experimental class and control class. In experimental class referred to the class that is given authentic material. While the control class referred to the class that is given the usual set of conditions or textbook. The study was carried out at Lakidende University of Unaaha and Sembilan belas November University with 60 undergraduates as the sample. Data were collected by using reading test. Moreover, the data were analyzed quantitatively and interpreted by using the software program of SPSS 24.0. This study found that Authentic reading material give a significant effect on students’ reading comprehension from pre-test to post-test revealed the significant difference (0.001 less than 0.05) before and after the implementation of Authentic reading material
