Study on Estimates of Travel Distance, Velocity and Potential Volume of Amahusu Sliding Plane using Energy Conservation Approach in Conjunction with Geoelectric Survey
The investigation of landslides applying various methods has been receiving increased attention in recent years. This study was aimed at assessing the estimated distribution of landslide movement using an energy conservation formula in a lumped mass model to obtain velocity and travel distance estimations, in combination with an inverted resistivity model for estimating the Amahusu landslide volume. The research location was in the Amahusu hills of the Nusaniwe subdistrict, Ambon, Indonesia. A survey was carried out using GPS and a geoelectric resistivity method with the Wenner-Schlumberger configuration. The results of the study provide a characterization of this rotational type landslide. The estimated landslide volume was 70,954 m3 and the estimated potential landslide volumewas 50,603 m3. This mass moved 303 m away from the original location, with an estimated maximum velocity of up to 21.25 m/s. The displacement pattern of a landslide mass is primarily controlled by the geometry of the sliding plane. The geometry of the sliding plane causes different types of movement, based on which the possible occurrence of a future landslide can be predicted
Acceptance Sampling Plans Based on Truncated Life Tests for Sushila Distribution
An acceptance sampling plan problem based on truncated life tests when the lifetime following a Sushila distribution is considered in this paper. For various acceptance numbers, confidence levels and values of the ratio between fixed experiment time and particular mean lifetime, the minimum sample sizes required to ascertain a specified mean life were found. The operating characteristic function values of the suggested sampling plans and the producer's risk are presented. Some tables are provided and the results are illustrated by an example of a real data set
Generalization of Slightly Compressible Modules
In this paper, we give a generalization of slightly compressible modules. We introduce the notion of M-slightly compressible modules, i.e. a right R module N is called M-slightly compressible if for every nonzero submodule A of N there exists a nonzero R-homomorphism s from M to N such that . Many examples of M-slightly compressible modules are provided. Some results on M-slightly compressible modules are obtained, which are interesting and important
An Elementary Approach to Polynomial Optimization on Polynomial Meshes
A polynomial mesh on a multivariate compact set or manifold is a sequence of finite norming sets for polynomials whose norming constant is independent of degree. We apply the recently developed theory of polynomial meshes to an elementary discrete approach for polynomial optimization on nonstandard domains, providing a rigorous (over)estimate of the convergence rate. Examples include surface/solid subregions of sphere or torus, such as caps, lenses, lunes, and slices
The Study of Effect of Toxic Metal on Plant Growth Dynamics with Time Lag: A Two-Compartment Model
A two-compartment mathematical model is proposed for the study of individual plant growth dynamics with time lag due to the presence of toxic metals in the soil. It is assumed in the model that nutrient uptake by the roots is hindered by the presence of the toxic metals. It is further assumed that there is less transfer of nutrients from the root compartment to the shoot compartment due to the toxic metals. However, the nutrient concentration decreases in the root compartment as well as in the shoot compartment, resulting in a decrease of the structural dry weight of the roots and shoots respectively. This effect was studied by considering time lag in the utilization coefficient of the nutrient concentration in the roots in the presence of toxic metals. It is further assumed in the model that the nutrient use efficiency is also affected by the presence of toxic metals, resulting in a decrease of the structural dry weight of the shoots. The inclusion of time lag results in the disturbance of the interior equilibrium stability and Hopf bifurcation occurs for a critical value of the delay parameter. This entire phenomenon was captured by numerical simulation
Molecular Docking of Ferulic Acid Derivatives on P2Y12 Receptor and their ADMET Prediction
P2Y12 is a platelet receptor that is involved in ADP signal transduction and is an attractive target for antithrombotic drugs. The side effects of antithrombotic drugs are not pleasant for the patient, so research into the development of new antithrombotic agents is still necessary. Evaluation of absorption, distribution, metabolism, elimination, and the toxicity profile of candidate drugs is an important step in drug development. The aim of this study was to predict the potency of ferulic acid (FA) and its derivatives (FA1-24) as antiplatelet drugs by a docking study on the P2Y12 receptor (PDB ID: 4PXZ) and their ADMET performance. The docking study was performed using Molegro Virtual Docker, version 5.5. ADMET prediction of FA was conducted using the pkCSM online tool. The results of the in silico study showed that FA-19 had the lowest MolDock score (MDS), which means that this compound is predicted to have the greatest activity. FA-19 is also predicted to be practically non-toxic. It is expected that FA-19 will have good intestinal absorption and is similarly distributed in the intestine and in the blood plasma. Its penetration in the blood-brain barrier is moderate but does not inhibit the CYP2D6 and CYP3A4 enzymes
