PENGEMBANGAN SUMBER DAYA WANITA DALAM MENGHADAPI ERA GLOBALISASI*
In the past, the role of a woman was more of bringing up children and giving company to her husband than anythingelse, but because of the economic changes and education, there are now many house wives who, in the recent days, do not only function as household managers, but they also take on careers outside the home. The perception of the community on women who work outside their families is also becoming more permissive. Generally, women havegot wide opportunities to improve on them selves. Even with this however, there are still internal obstacles which tend to hinder this improvement of women. Various efforts have so far been made to assist women in optimizing themselves according to their individual potentialities. For that matter therefore, Prijono Tjiptoherijanto explains the necessity of improving on the quality of women, either through the family or through other institutional means

VALIDITAS DAN RELIABILITAS PENGUKURAN KELUARGA SEJAHTERA*
This article critically examines the family welfare data collected by the National Family Planning Board (BKKBN). Comparing the BKKBN's data with the UGM's data, the article demonstrates significant differences in family distribution, in most of the family welfare indicators. As a result, the categorization of families into family welfare stages between BKKBN's data and UGM's data differs considerably. This raises some issues on the reliability and validity of BKKBN's family welfare registration data. The article also discloses weaknesses embeded in the instrument and data collection processes which may hurt the reliability and validity of the BKKBN's data. Thus, the improvement of the instrument as well as the process of collecting data is absolutely necessary if the BKKBN is to more effectively implement its family welfare programs

PERLUASAN KOTA DALAM REALITAS SOSIAL DAN KULTURAL MASYARAKAT
The expansion of cities is one of the most interesting issues, especially in the backdrop of increasing scarcity of space for the burgeoning population as well as environmental concerns, which among other things, advocate for the preservation of conservation areas on the city’s outskirts. The expansion of cities has resulted into the spatial, social, and cultural transformation of suburban areas. The importance of adopting spatial development pattern for areas on city fringes should foster the formulation of development that should take cognizance of the social and spatial aspects of such areas. Upon implementation, spatial development pattern will facilitate the proper phasing, and direction of the transformation process. Proper urban /city development and expansion should be conducted through five phases, which entail: 1) determining the goal, 2) creating the development and conservation pattern, 3) identifying the area of focus, 4) planning, 5) and implementation. If city development is based on the five phases aforementioned, it should evolve into a controllable expansion pattern, which is known as accretion expansion

There is a gap of development achievement in Indonesia. At least it can be observed from human development index (HDI) in the period of 1996- 2002 which show a significant different across provinces. Among provinces in Java, Yogyakarta sit in the second position after Jakarta in the year of 1996 and 1999, but it became third rank in the year of2002. As it was in other provinces, the value of the index is still lower in 2002 compared to 1996, but higher than in 1999. It means the economic crisis which hit the country affect the human development a lot. In the same time among the district in the Yogyakarta province, the gap of HDI also appeared between the District of Gunung Kidul which the rank was 140 and the city of Yogyakarta which the rank was Q in 2002. Even the gap was higher in 1996 and 1999 because the rank of Gunung Kidul is 187 and 1965 respectively while it was 5 and 2 for the city of Yogyakarta. Gunung Kidul is also the area which was the most hit by the crisis as can be seen from the sharp decline in people's purchasing power. However this area experience faster recovery shown by the higher increase of purchasing power than other districts

KRISIS EKONOMI, DAYA TAHAN PENDUDUK, DAN SOCIAL SECURITY: KASUS JATINOM DI JAWA TENGAH
The economic crisis that has been going on since 1997 has had different consequences in various areas. These differences have also provoked a series of discussions about whether or not there is indeed any impact from this crisis, or how far of this impact can be observed. By looking at the case of Jatinom, this study indicates that a community that does not suffer the impact of the crisis is mainly because of the supportive nature of the local resources. This includes the elastic nature of the agricultural sector and self-reliance of the community, which is manifested through a series of strategies that have been historically developed. The communal perception and reaction of Jatinom community towards the crisis is indeed a reflection of their elastic- optimistic attitude. They never portray an attitude of just being on the receiving side. They are instead preoccupied with productive economic activities, which are based on calculative considerations. This paper also emphasizes that the crisis should actually be looked at from a historical perspective in order to have a more detailed and contextual understanding about the impact of the crisis
ANALISIS STATISTIK SEDERHANA UNTUK PENGAMBILAN KEPUTUSAN
A Table construction by a tally is data analysis which can easily be accomplished. At present, with an aid of computers, such analysis can be exesuted more with ease. Thus, anyone regarless of her or his academic backgrounds, should be able to make tables, graphs or descriptive statistics in a relatively short time. In constructing of such tables it is paramount that one should select appropriate variables (indicators orfactors) so the tables may be utilized as inputs for decision makers, policy makers, and programs. An analysis based on these tables and graphs could be formulated as a descriptive summary.
PERHITUNGAN FERTILITAS MENGGUNAKAN METODE ANAK KANDUNG: ANALISIS LANJUT DATA RISKESDAS 2013
Total Fertility Rate (TFR) is the average number of children born alive by a number of women at the end of their reproductive period. TFR is one indicator of health development, especially maternal health in the country. Therefore, target of reducing the birth rate is still prioritized in RPJMN 2015-2019. Indirect method is more appropriate to calculate TFR, such as own-method children. Population of this study is women and their children in the same househoold with women of childbearing aged 15-49 years and children under five who live with their parents as sampling unit. Children under five in this analysis are the biological children while step children will be included in order to enhance the number children. The calculation based on 2013 Riskesdas (Riset Kesehatan Dasar) shows higher TFR compared to 2012 DHS (Demographic and Health Survey) which was 3.2 at national level. ASFR (Age Specific Fertility Rate) pattern shows highest fertility rate for age of 20-24, while it was second for age 15-19. The important implication is that family planning program has to concentrate on this age groups, such as by increasing age of the first marriage.
