KEUSAHAWANAN DAN USAHA KECIL DI PEDESAAN
Since the 1970s, the growing interest on the development of small enterprises has been decorating the scene of government policy in developing countries as well as the international donor concern. The failure and cost of industrialization, the limitations of the agricultural sector, and the low capability of the formal sector in responding to the growing population are among the factors justifying this policy initiation. Another important factor is the intrinsic potential and prospect of small enterprises, despite their development problems. This research conducted on 4 villages within the Province of Yogyakarta Special Region and CentralJava is aimed at contributing to a rather comprehensive view on the profile of small enterprises and the profile of small entrepreneurs. A specific emphasis is given to rural entrepreneurship due to its crucial role in accelerating the development of small enterprises

PEMAKAIAN NORPLANT SECARA SALAH: ANTARA KUALITAS PELAYANAN DAN KEPATUHAN AKSEPTOR
The number of norplant users had increased over time, the problem was that many women use norplant incorrectly. Some of them used it longer than five years without removal and some other women used double norplant. Also, there were some women who used one set of norplant with more or less than 6 norplant matchsticks as required. These problems would certainly bring negative effects on women's health and, in turn, their economic condition. At national level, the large number of misusers would cause a failure of the family planning program.Non-compliance behavior among norplant users was caused by many factors. Poor quality of care, especially providers' incompetence, inadequate information, and inadequate mechanisms to encourage continuity were found as major causes. The clients themselves had a contribution in the misuse of norplant. The clients had their own beliefs about health and sickness and they also tend to be influenced by the behavior of their neighbors who were misusing norplant. The clients awareness about the importance of information was also very low and It caused the lack of knowledge about the arrangements of using norplant
DAMPAK KB TERHADAP KESEJAHTERAAN: MITOS DAN KENYATAAN*
Family planning is an instrument to achieve family welfare but it is not the only one. However, the simplification of family planning-family welfare linkage has exagerated the family planning role. Many studies, such as conducted by Population Studies Center Gadjah Mada University, show that the direct effects of family planning practice and fertility on family welfare are weak. Understandingthat the role is not big as expected, BKKBN introduced family welfare program. The program seems meaningful but institutionally it looks inappropriate. We suggest BKKBN to concentrate on its core bussines,e.g. serving FP,rather to do the family welfare program
PERKEMBANGAN INDEKS GINI DI PROPINSI DATI I JAWA BARAT
The problem of inequality in income distribution has for long been a focus of research interest. There is also a high possibility that this problem is responsible for the social stress and disturbances. Inorder to address this issue, there is a need to approach it through the gini index both over time and between regions, rural-urban, and also between groups in order to get an empirical observation, particularly in provincial level of Java. We can draw a general conclusion that the inequality in income distrilmtion in West Jam is low. In this connection, there is a tendency that the degree of inequality is high inareas the middle of development is relatively higher and then in urban areas. Thus, development policies aimed at improving on community income distribution should therefore, prioritize these areas
DARI MAKASSAR KE MAKASSAR: ASPEK DEMOGRAFI DAN POLITIK PROSES “ETNISASI” SEBUAH KOTA
The city of Makassar, once named Ujung Pandang, in South Sulawesi, underwent tremendous transformation in the 20th century. This transformation significantly changed the image of the city from a cosmopolitan town to a provincial and “ethnic” city. This article shows that the changes of the city’s image did not happen by itself. There were changing structural conditions, namely demographic and political conditions, which allowed the changes to happen.Since early 20th century the population of the city has grown exponentially. First, in-migrants from the surrounding regions in the eastern part of Indonesia flocked into the city until early 1950s. Second, due to the rebellion and unrest in the countryside of South Sulawesi since 1950 inmigrants, mostly refugees, from Bugis-speaking areas in even larger number swarmed Makassar. Parallel with the demographical changes, the political scene in the city (and the province) was increasingly dominated by politicians and bureaucrats of South-Sulawesi origins. The Permesta rebellion in late-1950s triggered the departure of mostly non-South Sulawesi politicians away from the region leaving the political stage fully in the hands of local politicians. The “ethnic-ization” of the city was made possible by these demographical and political changes

This study found correlation value of age and job change over estimate by 4 % and its variance over estimate by 14 % before corrected by sampling error. Outlier of large sample size influences Meta Analysis result. If a study with large sample size has correlation value lower than mean of correlation of the other studies, that study will make the corrected value and variance correlation under estimate

WACANA SIRKUMSISI PADA PEREMPUAN
There are two perspectives of female circumcision among scholars. First, female circumcision is a matter of tradition that has been legalized by religious interpretations, especially Islam. Essentially, Islam does not obligate women to practice it. The practice could be accepted as far as it doesn't not destroy the functions of woman sex organ. Second, female circumcision is a tradition that has been legalized by men powers for satisfying themselves in sexual performance as well as in social relations. Female genital mutilation, which means removing the clitoris, labia minora and majora of the female sex organ, is the practice to make males having more pleasure in sexual relationship. Here, the objective of such practice is to insult 'female dignity' and to show that females should obey males domination. Islam prohibits the latter practice
