Strength, porosity and corrosion resistance of ternary blend Portland cement, rice husk ash and fly ash mortar
This paper presents a study of the strength, porosity and corrosion resistance of mortars made with ternary blends of ordinary Portland cement (OPC), ground rice husk ash (RHA) and classified fly ash (fine fly ash, FA). Compressive strength, porosity and accelerated corrosion with impressed voltage (ACTIV) were tested. The results show that the use of ternary blend of OPC, RHA and FA produces mortars with improved strengths at the low replacement level with RHA and FA and at the later age in comparison to that of OPC mortar. The porosity of mortar containing pozzolan reduces with the low replacement level of up to 20% of pozzolan, but increases with the 40% replacement level. The chloride induced corrosion resistance of mortar as measured by ACTIV is, however, significantly improved with the use of both single pozzolan and the ternary blend OPC, RHA and FA. The corrosion resistance of ternary blend mortar is higher than that of mortar containing single pozzolan. The use of ternary blend OPC, RHA and FA is very effective in enhancing chloride induced corrosion of mortar
Technology Transfer to Community for Existing Career Development and New Career Creation
This project has three main purposes: to provide training courses for producing and packaging of food, textile, craft and handicraft community products; to conduct a workshop for initial quality evaluation of community products and their packages; and to encourage the community to develop its products according to Thai Community Product Standard. This project has three main purposes: to provide training courses for producing and packaging of food, textile, craft and handicraft community products; to conduct a workshop for initial quality evaluation of community products and their packages; and to encourage the community to develop its products according to Thai Community Product Standard. The methodology of the project included assessing need for technology transfer; preparing the project; appointing the committee; recruiting trainees; inviting speakers; preparing instructors, documents, place and facilities; conducting the training course; and following up project achievement. Results from the 20 training courses with 204 target trainees revealed satisfaction in training at the level of 83.20%. About 46.15% of the trainees were ready for the community product standard guarantee, and 33.17% were able to create new careers
Development of Lightweight Concrete Masonry Units with Oil Palm Ash
The objective of this research was to find an appropriate mixing ratio of concrete with oil palm to produce concrete masonry units with properties equivalent or better than other conventional masonry materials. The objective of this research was to find an appropriate mixing ratio of concrete with oil palm to produce concrete masonry units with properties equivalent or better than other conventional masonry materials. By trying out method, the best proportion of Portland cement: sand: oil palm ash was found at 1:1:2 by weight. The ratio yielded a lightweight concrete with an average density of 766 kg/m3, and average compressive strength of approximately 90 kg/ cm2, which is higher than the minimum requirement of Thai Industrial Standards (TIS) 58- 2533 (1990) of 75 kg/cm2. Water absorption of this proportion was at an acceptable standard level of 20% by weight. From cost analysis, the cost of a wall made with the obtained masonry units was about 100 baht per square meter cheaper than lightweight masonry units sold in the market. However, the heat conductivity (K) was similar (0.194 W/mk). Moreover, the manufacturing process of these masonry units is simple and can be run as a small local enterprise
A Dynamic Associative e-learning model based on a spreading activation network
This paper proposes a dynamic semantic model for e-learning system based on the psycholinguistic theories of human memory, Spreading Activation Network (SAN). This work employs a SAN as a technique to provide the interface's action selection mechanism in an uncertain environment.Presenting information to an e-learning environment is a challenge, mostly, because of the hypertext/hypermedia nature and the richness of the context and information provides. This paper proposes a dynamic semantic model for e-learning system based on the psycholinguistic theories of human memory, Spreading Activation Network (SAN). This work employs a SAN as a technique to provide the interface's action selection mechanism in an uncertain environment. The paper combines the SAN with the temporal logic to provide an e-learning system that a learning activity level evolves according to their expected contextual relevance. The system differs from the other e-learning by representing dynamic associations between learning activities and the relevance subjects. This system equipped with an Event-Triggered learning interface (context) adaptation component. This component provides multiple parallel processes for perception. These processes provide context screen selection and learning task operation based upon the user current situation. The SAN attempts to achieve a number of goals in an unpredictable complex dynamic environment. Spreading activation explains the predictive top-down effect of knowledge. It supports general heuristics which may be used as the first step of more elaborated methods. This model is suited to deal with the interaction between semantic and episodic memories, as well as many other practical issues regarding e-learning, including the retroactive effect of semantics over perception. The system uses the SAN to activate the most suitable interface screen (context) in response to the current conditions (learning activities) while the system continues working towards the learning objective goal. The paper presents our efforts to
realize such e-learning system. The proposed paradigm has been implemented to develop a prototypical system, and the experiments also illustrate the robustness of such an e-learning framework
The Design of Bit-Serial Lattice Wave Digital Filter Using FPGA
This article describes an efficient approach to the implementation of bit-serial lattice wave digital filters based on field programmable gate array (FPGA).This article describes an efficient approach to the implementation of bit-serial lattice wave digital filters based on field programmable gate array (FPGA). In this paper, a time schedule of all of the bit-serial two-port adaptors is presented as a bridge between conception and completion. Finally, with the satisfying frequency response, the filter is successfully tested by both computer simulation and real signal measured from the programmed FPGA
Regional Flow Duration Curves for Wang River Basins
In this studies, the regional flow duration curves were prepared for Wang River Basins. In this studies, the regional flow duration curves were prepared for Wang River Basins. More than 10-year daily flow records of 10 selected gauging stations in these river basins (catchment areas ranging from 95.7 to 10,442 square kilometers) were used in the analysis. The flow duration curves and dimensionless flow duration curves were construced at the gauging stations. In the regional analysis, river basins were devided into 3 subregions of similar hydrological condition. The regional flow duration curves models were constructed for each subregion, in which an equations for predicting the mean dischage and the maximum percent of time from physical parameters of the catchment were proposed for each subregion .The curves and equations obtained from this study could be used to estimate the design flow duration curve of any specified percent of time at any location, gauged or unguaged, within these river basins
