Сombination of Knowledge of Mathematics and Chemistry in the Study of the Theme “Water Dissociation. Power of Hydrogen” in the Inorganic Chemistry Course

    No full text
The aim of this work was to show effective and convenient way of studying the theme “Water Dissociation. Power of Hydrogen” and facilitate the new material perception by students of pharmaceutical faculty using knowledge of mathematics and chemistry. The correct calculation of pH and ions concentration in solution is necessary for complete perception of the theoretical bases of many disciplines. Using such approach in the study of this theme increases the student's ability to solve the problem quickly and correctly while calculating pH level, helps avoid some mistakes and trains to control results independently

Rational Approach to Cyst’s Cavity Sanation in Open Surgery in Children with Hydatid Disease of Liver

    No full text
Despite the wide use of scolexidic drugs and physical methods of influence 17.4-64.0 % of patients after surgical treatment for liver hydatid cysts (LHC) suffered from postoperative complications; and relapse was observed in 7.7-15.0 % of the patients, the main reason of which was drawbacks in the sanation of the cyst’s cavity during the surgery. The objective of the study was the development and practical implementation of new methods of cysts’ sanation in the open surgery in children with hydatid disease of liver.Materials and methods. The treatment of 212 children with 353 LHC was conducted. All patients were treated conservatively (n=20), by the open surgery (laparotomy) (n=164), by miniinvasive surgery - puncture-drainage (transcutaneous puncture) (n=25) and laparoscopically (n=3).Results and discussion. The method of LHC sanation in open surgery (Patent of Ukraine № 64726) was offered. It consists in the fact that laparotomy was performed and the cyst’s content was punctured and aspirated, after that 10 % alcoholic iodine solution and 96 % ethanol and 0.02 % solution of chlorhexidine bigluconate was injected in the cyst’s cavity with 7 minutes exposure followed by exsufflation. After the cyst’s cavity opening and removing of the chitinous membrane, cavity of the cyst was additionally treated with tampons alternately soaked in 10 % alcoholic iodine solution, 96 % ethanol and 0.02 % chlorhexidine bigluconate for 5 minutes each.Conclusion. Due to the creation of optimal conditions for increasing the reliability of the LHC antiparasitic treatment with open surgery by taking into account the pharmacological properties of germicides and anatomical and physiological characteristics of the liver and of the whole body in this condition, it was possible to prevent the postoperative complications and recurrence of the disease leading to successful treatment

Resection Surgeries on Pancreatic Head in Surgical Treatment of Complicated Forms of Chronic Pancreatitis

    No full text
106 patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP) underwent surgery at the department of surgery of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Clinical Hospital during 2009-2014, including 97 (90.5 %) men and 9 (9.5 %) women. Six of these patients had had previous CP surgeries (2 patients had had longitudinal pancreatico-jejunostomy, 3 – endoscopic interventions in extrahepatic biliary tract, and 1 – endoscopic stenting of Wirsung’s duct). However, due to progressive fibrous degenerative changes in pancreatic tissue they required a repeated surgery. Different complications of CP were found in 39 (36.7 %) patients: biliary hypertension (BH) in 26 (24.5 %) patients, chronic duodenal obstruction (CDO) in 10 (9.4 %) patients, combination of CDO and BH and local venous hypertension of pancreatico-biliary area – 4 (3.8 %) patients. Before the operation, diabetes mellitus had been diagnosed in 11(10.4%) patients.Proximal resection surgeries on pancreatic head were applied in 27 (25.5%) cases, among them: 4 patients underwent pancreatico-duodenal resection, 23 patients – duodenum preserving procedures (including 2 cases according to Beger in Berne modification, and 21 Frey’s procedures). Berne procedure was conducted in 2 male patients 34 and 44 years old. Frey’s procedure was used in 21 cases: 20 male and 1 female patient. Average age of patients is 44±6.6. Four patients (three men and one woman 45.3±8.4 years old) underwent pancreaticoduodenal resection. Two out of 27 patients died (postoperative mortality comprised 7.4%).Proximal resection procedures on pancreatic head are pathogenetically reasoned in cases of fibrous-degenerative forms of chronic pancreatitis, and allow to eliminate pain syndrome and malfunction of adjacent organs. A significant number of postoperative complications of pancreatic resection surgeries is connected primarily with the injury of pancreatic tissue, and requires less traumatic surgery techniques following specific indications
