Bowel cancer screening: the next step (English and 10 translations)
This leaflet provides information on further investigations participants may require, including colonoscopy.The translations are of the 2010 versions when screening was for 60��-69 year olds but this has been extended to 60��-74 year olds
Cervical screening: the colposcopy examination (English and 11 translations)
Testing for high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) as triage and test of cure was introduced into the Northern Ireland Cervical Screening Programme on Monday 28 January 2013. This policy change will significantly alter the screening pathway for women with a mild dyskaryosis or borderline smear result
Public Consultation on the development of a National Cancer Strategy for 2016-2025
The Minister for Health Leo Varadkar has announced that a new National Cancer Strategy is to be developed. This will be the third cancer strategy, covering the period 2016 to 2025.
A Cancer Strategy Steering Group has been established to advise the Department on the development of the Strategy. It is anticipated that the work of the Steering Group will be completed by the end of 2015, when it will make recommendations on a draft Strategy to the Minister. The implementation of a new strategy will commence in 2016.

National Cancer Strategy 2006: a Strategy for Cancer Control in Ireland – Evaluation Panel Report
Review of ‘A Strategy for Cancer Control in Ireland’. The review was led by Professor Pádraig Warde of the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto. The evaluation panel was very impressed with the excellent progress in the cancer control system in Ireland since the publication of “A Strategy for Cancer Control in Ireland” in 2006. The Marmot Review (2010) made a range of recommendations to reduce health inequalities in England.
Building on the Review, the UCL Institute of Health Equity has produced 4 papers which include evidence, and examples of practical action that can be taken at a local level to reduce health inequalities. They are designed for people working in local services, particularly:
directors of public health and public health teams
people working in local authorities services that may influence health and wellbeing, such as planning
health and wellbeing boards
These practice resources build on a series of papers published in 2014 to support local action on health inequalities
