Anaesthesia praCtice for Caesarean dElivery Snapshot Study (ACCESS): Protocol and baseline characteristics of registered centres
Background: Specific guidelines to manage caesarean delivery anaesthesia are lacking. A European multicentre study, ACCESS investigates caesarean delivery anaesthesia management in European centres. In order to identify ACCESS participating centres, a registration survey was created.
Objective: The aim of the current report is to describe the characteristics of ACCESS study participating centres, the rationale for the ACCESS study and the study methodology.
Design and setting: The ACCESS study is a European multicentre cross-sectional study to describe anaesthesia management for caesarean delivery (CD) using a snapshot (2-week) design. The ACCESS registration survey gathered: contact details for National Coordinators (NC); Lead Investigators (LI) per centre; centre annual CD volume; expected no. of CD during 2-week snapshot window; centre practice information; data collection language. The ACCESS registration survey was launched July 2022 (Google Forms, Google Inc., Mountain View, CA, USA) and distributed through personal connections, national and international societies, social media networks, during Euroanaesthesia 2023, through the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care newsletter.
Results: The ACCESS registration survey identified Lead Investigators for 418 centres, in 32 countries, representing an anticipated number of 15,073 CD cases over the planned 12-month study period. A median (range) of 20 (2 to 400) CD cases are anticipated per centre during the 2-week snapshot window. Most 366/418 (87.6%) centres are small, ≤2000 annual CD cases, 42 are medium 2000-5000 cases and 10 are large, ≥5000 annual CD cases. Registered centres reported in 134 (32.0%) centres that anaesthesia for caesarean delivery is performed mostly by a specialist obstetric anaesthesiologist.
Conclusion: The ACCESS registration survey revealed variability in volume and CD practice as well as training-levels and staffing among European countries. The ACCESS study (https://www.access-study.org/) aims to generate practice data to guide CD anaesthetic management strategies.Sin financiación1.9 Q2 JCR 20230.743 Q2 SJR 2023No data IDR 2022UE
The trajectory of international law in Latin America and its influence on human rights
International law has a long and well-established trajectory in Latin America. Likewise, its influence on the international recognition of human rights both at a regional and global level has been very significant. The doctrine usually addresses the Latin American contributions to the international legal order and human rights, but few studies place the region as a protagonist of this process, but rather as a collaborator. Similarly, the global history of human rights has overshadowed Latin America’s role in this evolution. However, various academic contributions of the last decade have revalued this role by highlighting the regional traditions and trajectories of international law in and from Latin America. In addition to describing and analyzing these Latin American developments, the article suggests their great relevance for any discipline concerned to the construction and application of international law and human rights in the region.Sin financiaciónNo data JCR 2023* Q4 SJR 20230,02 C3 IDR 2023UE
Understanding AI adoption in Education: a TAM perspective on students’ and teachers' perceptions
Over the past 30 years, we have experienced exponential growth. The advent of the Internet marked a significant shift in how we work and access information. We are now in a new phase, where the speed of information processing and storage capacity have prompted another exponential change. The arrival of new technologies such as mobile applications, Big Data, and artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the university environment. These innovations aim to enhance the educational experience, optimize administrative processes, and support academic research. The effectiveness of these technologies depends on their acceptance by students and faculty, making it crucial to evaluate user adaptation. Despite extensive research on technology development, there is a lack of studies validating their impact and acceptance in academic settings. This research addresses this deficiency by presenting a new model based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) tailored for university students and faculty. The study introduces an assessment system for digital maturity levels using a fuzzy 2-tuple linguistic model and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The results demonstrate a significant correlation between the use of AI and the enhancement of the academic experience in universities.

This article proposes a new way of teaching the problems of the so-called «rule of three with magnitudes», currently based on two
physical hypotheses. The different methods of resolution taught from the compound «rule of three with magnitudes» are analyzed,
systems based on intuition against deduction that characterizes mathematical science. The new proposed method of resolution is based
on the “First algebra of magnitudes”, which is explained and logic reasoned. A statistical study of the didactic effectiveness of all the
methods of rule of three with magnitudes is carried out and the results are presented.Sin financiaciónNo data JCR 2023No data SJR 2023No data IDR 2022UE
Misconduct of Spanish grassroots soccer coaches through referees’ reports: Variability by match format, age category, sex, and severity
This study aimed to describe and analyse the disciplinary sanctions received by grassroots soccer coaches in the Valencian Community (Spain) over five seasons. Specific objectives included determining the influence of format (8-a-side or 11-a-side), age (U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, and U18), sex category (male or female), and sanction severity (mild [one to four matches] or serious [five matches to a full season]). A study was conducted based on referees’ records from 275,844 games played in 1401 league competitions during five subsequent seasons between 2014 and 2019 in Valencia (Spain). A total of 3563 sanctions were recorded by matchday referees, with the majority being minor offences (92.93%) and most being imposed on 11-a-side soccer coaches (87%). The most frequent reasons for sanctions pertained to protests to referees (28%); dismissal due to double reprimands (26.40%); contemptuous and inconsiderate attitudes towards referees, including insults and threats (19.53%); and direct sending-offs (8.84%). Significantly more mild sanctions were found than serious ones, with more sanctions emerging in the 11-a-side soccer than in the 8-a-side soccer and the men's category compared to the women's category. Finally, we found significantly more sanctions in the U18 men's category compared to all other younger age categories and in the U15 men's category compared to the U7, U9 and U9-U11 female categories (p < .05).GV 2017/1471.5 Q3 JCR 20230.741 Q1 SJR 2023No data IDR 2023UE
This research studies the physical load demands on Argentinean youth soccer players during official matches, categorized by position and division. Data was collected from youth players of Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield, member of the Argentinean elite soccer league. Players who completed entire matches (186 players across 114 games) were included, excluding goalkeepers. GPS Catapult was employed to analyze running demands (total distance, sprint distance, distance at speeds exceeding 19 km/h, maximum velocity) and acceleration variables (player load per minute, maximum acceleration, maximum deceleration). The non-parametric Wilcoxon Test was used with a significance level set at p < 0.05. Significant differences were found between youth ages across most variables, excluding 8th and 9th divisions due to difference in playing times. Central defenders showed the lowest values in distance covered and maximum acceleration, while center forwards and wingers displayed the highest values in maximum velocity. Argentinian players performed better compared to international data. This study provides insights to optimize performance and injury prevention in Argentinean youth soccer.Sin FinanciaciónNo data JCR 2023; No data SJR 2023; 0,24 C3 IDR 202
Wildlife as a Sentinel for Pathogen Introduction in Nonendemic Areas: First Detection of Leishmania tropica in Wildlife in Spain
Leishmaniasis is a chronic global arthropod-borne zoonotic disease produced by several species of Leishmania with cutaneous,
mucocutaneous, and visceral clinical manifestations. In Spain, only Leishmania infantum has been reported so far, although other
species of Leishmania, such as L. tropica and L. major, are present in surrounding countries. The aim of this work is to analyze the
occurrence of Leishmania spp. infection in European wildcats (Felis silvestris) as sentinels, including their genotypic characterization.
Necropsies of 18 road-killed wildcats were conducted. Samples of ear skin and spleen were taken for DNA isolation and PCR
of the highly sensitive SSU-rDNA target. Subsequent PCR tests were performed using more specific targets for the determination of
Leishmania species: hsp70 and ITS1. Positive samples were sequenced, and phylogenetic trees were constructed. Seven wildcats
were found positive for Leishmania spp. Based on the hsp70 and ITS1 sequences, an animal was found to be infected only with
L. tropica in ear skin samples, while two cats were found to be infected with L. infantum in both the ear skin and the spleen. In one
animal, a clear sequence of L. infantum ITS1 and a sequence of L. tropica hsp70 were obtained from the ear skin. Since hsp70 and
ITS1 sequencing was not possible in three cats, the species of Leishmania infecting them was not determined. This is the first report
of autochthonous infection with L. tropica in the Iberian Peninsula. Health care professionals, including physicians, dermatologists,
and veterinarians, must be aware of this for a correct diagnosis, treatment, and management of possible coinfections. The research was partially funded by the ICPVet research group of UCM (grant GRFN17/21).3.5 Q2 JCR 2023; 0.921 Q1 SJR 2024; No data IDR 2022UE
A Burnt-Out Health: Stigma towards Mental Health Problems as a Predictor of Burnout in a Sample of Community Social Healthcare Professionals
Burnout is a primary psychosocial risk factor in the workplace. Mental health stigma, which includes negative cognitions, emotions, and behaviors, also undermines the performance of social healthcare professionals. This study aimed to explore the levels of burnout in a sample of community social healthcare workers as well as its relationships with variables such as stigma towards mental health problems, professional skills, and job characteristics. An online assessment was conducted with 184 social healthcare professionals (75.5% female, mean age = 40.82 years, SD = 9.9). Medium levels of burnout and stigma and high levels of professional skills were observed. Multiple linear regression analyses revealed that stigma towards mental health problems and professional skills predicted emotional exhaustion (R2 = 0.153, F(4, 179) = 9.245, p < 0.001), depersonalization (R2 = 0.213, F(3, 180) = 17.540, p < 0.001), and personal accomplishment (R2 = 0.289, F(5, 178) = 15.87, p < 0.001). These findings suggest that social healthcare systems could benefit from taking care of the mental health of their workers by addressing burnout, tackling negative attitudes towards mental health problems, and providing professional skills training. This would help to make social healthcare systems more inclusive and of higher quality, thereby reducing health costs.Comunidad de Madrid, grant number PIPF-2022/SAL-GL-254332.5 Q2 JCR 20220.616 Q2 SJR 2023No data IDR 2022UE
