    The Concurrent Calculi Formalisation Benchmark

    POPLMark and POPLMark Reloaded sparked a flurry of work on machine-checked proofs, and fostered the adoption of proof mechanisation in programming language research. Both challenges were purposely limited in scope, and they do not address concurrency-related issues. We propose a new collection of benchmark challenges focused on the difficulties that typically arise when mechanising formal models of concurrent and distributed programming languages, such as process calculi. Our benchmark challenges address three key topics: linearity, scope extrusion, and coinductive reasoning. The goal of this new benchmark is to clarify, compare, and advance the state of the art, fostering the adoption of proof mechanisation in future research on concurrency

    “We Created Our Ecosystem”:A Multi-Country Case Study of Adoption Strategies for IoT in Agriculture

    In this paper, we present preliminary findings from our ongoing research on the adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT) in agriculture, addressing the limited scholarly focus on practical implementation of IoT-based business innovations in the field. The study employs a multiple exploratory case study approach, focusing on four countries: Greece, Italy, Serbia, and Türkiye. Through qualitative methods, including in-depth interviews and field observations, we investigate how the diffusion of IoT innovations unfolds across diverse geographical and socio-economic contexts. Our findings underscore the early stage of the innovation ecosystem formation within the IoT market for agriculture, which is often fragmented, loosely coupled, and ephemeral. This necessitates that companies strategise effectively, aligning with the evolving and, in some cases, yet-to-emerge IoT ecosystem to ensure successful IoT-driven ventures. Our research extends the literature by proposing a new framework that offers guidance for practitioners in selecting suitable adoption strategies for IoT in agriculture

    Capturing the context of drug use for college students:A contextual behavioural science informed qualitative analysis of harm reduction practices using network feedback loops simulation modelling

    Drug use during college can have substantial harm on students’ lives and impacts the institutions’ functioningand local communities. Yet existing interventions for drug use at college poorly address the concurrent dynamicinfluences of the experiences in earlier developmental periods of young adults and the proximal contextualtriggers of college life; both risk factors that can contribute to drug use. To address this, we leveraged systemdynamic methods and contextual-behavioural science (CBS) approaches to support the development of interventions focusing at addressin these risk factors. Using Causal Loop Diagram methods (Vensim PLE), wecollected qualitative data from college students to generate Network Feedback Loops (NFLs) (n = 24, Maged 22years old), during the development phase of the MyUse: a contextual behavioural change intervention for harmreduction practices at college students. The findings underscored central nodes (determinants within an intervention) that support our previous identified three CBS-harm-reduction practices for college students (targetededges: mindful drug-use decision making, value-based activities, context-sensitive personalized plan of harmreduction). Analyses revealed 4 NFLs for students with previous drug use, consisting of 13 edges (4 positive, 2negative, and 4 balancing reinforcing relationships) and 3 NFLs for students with no previous drug use, consisting of 4 positives, one negative, and one balancing relationship. All the NFLs were nested with the three CBSrelated targeted outcomes. College students who use drugs need drug-related knowledge about the unpredictableand adverse effects of drugs, presented in a compassionate way and distributed from credible resources (e.g.,students’ unions/club). Students with no previous drug use need education about the effects of drugs andawareness of how drugs can devaluate value-based activities (e.g. sports, friendships, social life). These should bedelivered via proxy cue reminders and mobile-text approaches conveying messages about drug use susceptibility,distributed in real-time. Idiosyncratic, dynamic, and contextual-bound factors of lapse risks or preventivepractices should account for each person-specific vulnerabilities via personalized harm reduction plans

    Ultra-Efficient Modulators Based on Chalcogenide and Graphene Materials for AI Hyperscalers

    Driven by the global growth in AI services, the demand for efficient hardware is at an all-time high in the race for continued performance scaling of hyperscale data centers. Integrated photonics devices have emerged as a promising alternative for reducing energy consumption. We report an optical modulator design that incorporates chalcogenide and graphene materials to achieve the minimal power consumption per bit during high-speed operation. The device design and its energy consumption performance are presented. Our results pave the way for ultra-efficient modulators revealing operations at high-speed modulation bandwidth up to 104 GHz whilst reducing energy consumption to 52.3 fJ/bit

    It remains uncertain whether interest and influence or ignorance and indifference are the right words to describe the relationship between rabbinic literature and Roman-Byzantine legal compilations. The chapter surveys the mostly separate study of the Talmud Yerushalmi and Justinian’s Corpus Juris Civilis and discusses scholarly theories about their compositional history. It argues that comparative (machine-assisted) analysis may be more likely to reveal structural and conceptual similarities rather than direct impact or mutual dependence. It proposes to ask questions for which sufficient evidence exists and to refocus on the analysis of the texts
