No full textBiomarker tests in lung cancer have been traditionally ordered by the treating oncologist upon confirmation of an appropriate pathological diagnosis. The delay this introduces prolongs yet further what is already a complex, multi-stage, pre-treatment pathway and delays the start of first-line systemic treatment, which is crucially informed by the results of such analysis. Reflex testing, in which the responsibility for testing for an agreed range of biomarkers lies with the pathologist, has been shown to standardise and expedite the process. Twelve experts discussed the rationale and considerations for implementing reflex testing as standard clinical practice
Efectos de la motivación académica y de la inteligencia emocional en el compromiso académico en adolescentes peruanos de educación secundaria
Get PDFThe study aims to evaluate the direct and indirect effects of academic motivation and emotional intelligence on academic engagement. It is a quantitative and predictive research composed of 416 Peruvian students through structural equation analysis (SEM), who answered three instruments to evaluate the variables. The results refer significant effects of emotional intelligence and motivation on school engagement, simultaneously emotional intelligence predicted motivation with optimal SEM goodnessof- fit indices. Additionally, a multigroup SEM analysis was performed to determine the structural invariance of the predictive model as a function of sex and age. We conclude the mediating role of academic motivation between emotional intelligence and academic engagement, which is important for better academic performance and achievement. The mediating model was equivalent between females and males, as well as between younger and older adolescents.El estudio tiene como objetivo evaluar los efectos directos e indirectos de la motivación académica y la inteligencia emocional en el compromiso académico. Es una investigación cuantitativa y predictiva, mediante el análisis de ecuaciones estructurales (SEM), compuesta por 416 estudiantes peruanos que respondieron a tres instrumentos para evaluar las variables. Los resultados refirieron efectos significativos de la inteligencia emocional y la motivación en el compromiso escolar; simultáneamente la inteligencia emocional predijo la motivación con óptimos índices de bondad de ajuste. También se realizó un análisis multigrupo SEM que determinó la invarianza estructural del modelo predictivo en función del sexo y la edad. Se concluye que el rol mediador de la motivación académica entre la inteligencia emocional y el compromiso académico es importante para un mejor rendimiento académico. El modelo mediador fue equivalente entre mujeres y hombres, así como entre adolescentes más jóvenes y mayores

The historical coverage of televised media events in print media: The Case of the Eurovision Song Contest
Get PDFThis study argues that, historically, televised media events managed to become prominent in the public agenda, not only through their live broadcast on television, but also through their long-term, continuous visibility in the print media. This, both on the level of the intensity of their press coverage; and also on the level of their framing as important and significant events for society. In other words, media events have enabled a content-based “coexistence” between print media and television. Through a thematic-qualitative analysis, the study describes how two Israeli, popular and elite newspapers promoted the public discourse on two of the most famous media events in Israel’s history: the 1979 and 1999 Eurovision Song Contests in Jerusalem. Findings reveal an intensive print media coverage of the two shows, from both “soft” (gossip) and “hard” (politics) perspectives. In addition, differences were found in the historical coverage of the contests in popular newspapers, compared to elite ones

importante y popular para los pacientes con obesidad mórbida, ya que ha
demostrado ser efectiva para lograr la pérdida de peso a largo plazo y mejora de las
comorbilidades asociadas (hipertensión arterial -HTA-, diabetes, dislipemia,
síndrome de apnea obstructiva del sueño, etc.). Sin embargo, la cirugía bariátrica es
sólo el primer paso en el proceso de pérdida de peso y mejora de la calidad de vida.
El seguimiento después de la cirugía es crucial para asegurar que los pacientes
alcancen sus objetivos de pérdida de peso y para prevenir complicaciones a largo
plazo. En este trabajo se explorará la relación entre la pérdida de peso y la mejora
de la calidad de vida en pacientes después de la cirugía bariátrica, así como la
importancia del adecuado seguimiento postoperatorio para la obtención de los
mejores resultados después de la cirugía
Buenas prácticas docentes y tutoriales en el ámbito universitario: la visión del docente
Get PDFGood teaching and tutoring practices continue to be a challenge for teachers. The objective of this study has been to define good practices in teaching and tutoring in the university context, as well as to show, through the testimonies of teachers considered excellent, the guidelines to achieve the desired good practices. A total of 22 university teachers participated in the study. A qualitative research approach has been used. The results show that good practices refer mainly to the attention to the students, the pedagogical capacity of the teaching staff and the knowledge and use of ICT.Las buenas prácticas docentes y tutoriales siguen siendo un desafío para el profesorado. El objetivo de este estudio ha sido definir las buenas prácticas en docencia y tutoría en el contexto universitario, así como poner de manifiesto, a través de los testimonios de docentes considerados excelentes, las pautas para lograr las deseadas buenas prácticas. Un total de 22 docentes universitarios han participado en el estudio. Se ha empleado un enfoque de investigación cualitativo. Los resultados ponen de manifiesto que las buenas prácticas hacen referencia principalmente a la atención al alumnado, la capacidad pedagógica del profesorado y el conocimiento y uso de las TIC
