Polyphenolic spectrum of cornelian cherry fruits and their health-promoting effect
Although cornelian cherry is an underutilized fruit species, its fruits have a high biological value due to valuable biologically active substances, especially polyphenols. The total content of polyphenols accounts for 37% of all the bioactive substances examined. Flavonols, anthocyanins, flavan-3-ols, and phenolic acids represent the main groups of phenolic compounds present and thanks to these compounds, cornelian cherry fruits possess mainly antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, metabolic, antidiabetic, cardioprotective, and anticancer effects. Mindfulness as a mediator between green HRM and innovation in hospitality
This study investigates the role of mindfulness in transforming eco-HR practices into innovative behaviour in Vietnam’s hospitality industry. Drawing on Social Cognitive Theory, the SECI model, and organisational learning theory, we analyse survey data from 264 hotel employees using PLS-SEM. Results show that Green Training (GT) and Green Performance Management (GPM) significantly influence mindfulness, which in turn facilitates both implicit and explicit knowledge sharing. These knowledge-sharing processes, especially when mediated by mindfulness, drive innovative behaviour. The findings highlight mindfulness as a cognitive amplifier in the HRM–innovation nexus and underscore the importance of integrating reflective and performance-oriented green HR practices for sustainable competitiveness in service firms.Dai hoc Kinh te Thanh pho Ho Chi Min
Polyester waste activated carbon assisted micropollutant methylene blue and Congo red dyes removal from wastewater: RSM modeling, kinetics, mechanism, and reusability study
This study explores the synthesis of activated carbon (AC) from polyester waste using zinc chloride (ZnCl2) as a chemical activator, designed to efficiently remove both positive methylene blue (MB) and negatively charged Congo red (CR) dyes from wastewater. Response Surface Methodology integrated with Central Composite Design was employed to optimize critical parameters, including adsorbent dosage, solution pH, dye concentration, and temperature, for enhanced dye removal. The results showed remarkable removal efficiencies of 100 % for MB and 99 % for CR under optimal conditions. The kinetic analysis showed that the pseudo-second-order model best described the adsorption process because of chemisorption, which includes ion exchange, complexation, π–π stacking, electrostatic interaction, and hydrogen bonding, while intra-particle diffusion was a key factor in the rate-limiting step. The results suggest MB followed the Langmuir isotherm, while the CR adsorption favored both Langmuir and Freundlich models. Thermodynamic studies revealed distinct adsorption behaviors: MB adsorption was exothermic, while CR adsorption was endothermic. Additionally, reusability tests confirmed the material's ability to maintain high performance over five adsorption–desorption cycles with no significant structural changes. Challenges and opportunities in university-based humanitarian mapathons: Enhancing citizen science contributions to open spatial data
Citizen science has become a key paradigm for the creation and improvement of digital geographic data, especially in areas often neglected by commercial mapping initiatives (Vohland et al., 2021). University mapathons are an important tool for engaging students in humanitarian mapping and have the potential to contribute significantly to the quality and quantity of volunteered geographic data as a gathering place for a particular community interested in self-development and contributing to society-wide development. This paper analyses the complex aspects related to the organisation and implementation of mapathons in a university setting, focusing on a case study of Tomas Bata University in Zln. Researching on the effect of input parameters on the quality and manufacturability of 3D-printed cellular samples from nylon 12 CF in synergy with testing their behavior in bending
The study of cellular structures and their properties represents big potential for their future applications in real practice. The article aims to study the effect of input parameters on the quality and manufacturability of cellular samples 3D-printed from Nylon 12 CF in synergy with testing their bending behavior. Three types of structures (Schwarz Diamond, Shoen Gyroid, and Schwarz Primitive) were selected for investigation that were made via the fused deposition modeling technique. As part of the research focused on the settings of input parameters in terms of the quality and manufacturability of the samples, input parameters such as volume fraction, temperature of the working space, filament feeding method and positioning of the sample on the printing pad were specified for the combination of the used material and 3D printer. During the experimental investigation of the bending properties of the samples, a three-point bending test was performed. The dependences of force on deflection were mathematically described and the amount of absorbed energy and ductility were evaluated. Tuning the properties of injection molding polypropylene parts by in-mold annealing
A way to improve sustainability of plastic products is to obtain a mono-material part, tuning the final properties by the transformation process. In the injection molding process, mold temperature cycle is recognized as a key parameter in determining the final characteristics of the part. In this work, injection molding tests coupled with in-mold annealing were conducted on an isotactic polypropylene. The polymer is injected in the cavity at high temperature (140°C and 160°C) and this temperature is kept for 5 minutes (annealing step); afterwards, the mold temperature is cooled down at room temperature. The samples are characterized by optical and electronic microscopy; furthermore, atomic force microscopy coupled with HarmoniX tool allows to characterize simultaneously the local morphology and the elastic modulus. Final morphology distribution along the sample thickness is significantly influenced by the adopted in-mold annealing conditions, in particular, an oriented zone forms close to the cavity surface, a spherulitic part in the core, and a transition zone in between. The extension of the oriented layer decreases in the presence of annealing. On its turn, morphology greatly affects mechanical properties: the oriented layer shows the highest values of elastic modulus, the transition zone shows the minimum value of elastic modulus; the elastic modulus of the spherulitic layers depends on spherulite dimensions. X-ray WAXS analyses were performed on the surface of the sample along the flow path to investigate the orientation and the crystalline phases that form during the process and to relate them with morphology
Does the competitive advantage of digital transformation influence comparability of accounting information?
At present, with the increasing digital competition among enterprises, it is of great importance for enterprises to promote digital transformation and achieve sustainable development. Taking China's A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2021 as samples, this paper performs empirical tests in order to explore the impact of enterprise digital transformation on the comparability of accounting information and its mechanism. The results show that digital transformation has significantly enhanced accounting information comparability, which is still significant after a series of robustness tests. The mechanism test shows that the improvement of the comparability of accounting information by the digital transformation is mainly achieved by alleviating earnings management and agency problem. Further research shows that when the degree of market competition or transparency is high, the role of enterprise digital transformation in enhancing the comparability is more significant. This paper enriches the literature on the economic consequences of digital transformation and the factors affecting the comparability of accounting information. Analysis of extrusion process parameters in PLA filament production for FFF technology
Additive technologies are becoming a common part of not only prototype production, but also piece or small series production. However, the choice of technology and material plays a key role in the applicability of the manufactured parts. The most widespread type of additive technology is FFF technology, which consists of applying a fused plastic string in single layers. The resulting mechanical properties of parts produced using this technology depend not only on the material and structure selected, but also on the process parameters used in the printing process itself. This study deals with the production of filament from PLA, which is the primary material. The advantage is its environmental degradability after the end of the life cycle of PLA products. However, the resulting properties of the printed parts may depend on the way the filament is prepared and in particular on the melt temperature during filament extrusion. This study investigates the effect of the produced filaments on the quality of printed parts. Firms' green knowledge sharing and tourists' green electronic word-of-mouth intention: a two-wave time-lagged study of moderated mediation model
To address sustainable development goals in the tourism sector, this study sheds light on the importance of novel green marketing strategies as critical tools for promoting environmental sustainability. Anchoring on the service-dominant logic theory, this study’s originality provides a framework that fundamentally reshapes our understanding of how value co-creation between companies and customers can occur in the green context. Specifically, the research indicates the novelty through the lens of service-dominant logic to clarify the impact of companies’ green knowledge sharing on social media as a novel catalyst for tourists’ green electronic word-of-mouth intention. Using a time-lagged study, data compiled from 799 tourists confirm that tourists’ warm glow and green customer engagement behavior in sharing knowledge online with firms function as parallel mediators, thereby explaining the indirect influence of green knowledge sharing on green electronic word-of-mouth intention. Additionally, social network proneness significantly moderates this mediation via green customer engagement behavior. This research marks a seminal contribution by integrating service-dominant logic into green marketing, thereby articulating a nuanced framework that explains how green knowledge sharing can be leveraged to amplify green electronic word-of-mouth intention. By doing so, this study provides practical implications to orienting sustainable tourism through firms’ green knowledge sharing, ultimately promoting tourists’ green behavior.Hue University [DHH2023-06-129
