Preventivmedel: Unga tjejers upplevelser och tankar kring preventivmedel

    No full text

Inflationary µ-Calculus via an Infinitary Proof-System: Foundations, Soundness, and Completeness

    No full text
Inflationary fixed-point logic (IFPL) extends modal logic with non-monotonic, in- flationary fixed-point operators, achieving greater expressiveness than the standard µ-calculus. While IFPL can define properties beyond regular languages and classical fixed-point systems, its lack of desirable properties (no finite model property, undecid- ability) and poor algorithmic tractability have relegated it to theoretical obscurity. This thesis bridges a foundational gap by proposing two novel infinitary proof systems: Kω (µ∗) with an ω-rule, and Kω1 (µ∗) with an ω1-rule, to derive deflationary fixed points. We adapt techniques from ω-rule-based µ-calculus systems to handle inflationary semantics, introducing dual approximation rules for fixed points. By restricting to the alternation-free fragment AF-Kω1 (µ∗), we sidestep nested fixed-point complexities while preserving core challenges. We present: (1) Soundness of Kω (µ∗) for finite models and soundness of Kω1 (µ∗) for all models. (2) Completeness of AF-Kω1 (µ∗) through a novel canonical model construction building on saturated sets and relying on truth-set signatures for the model con- struction. Beyond technical contributions, this work serves as an accessible introduction to (inflationary) fixed-point logics, explicitly detailing often-overlooked proofs and intu- itions. While completeness remains partial, the framework lays groundwork for future exploration of tractable IFPL-fragments or circular proof systems. The results suggest that inflationary operators, long dismissed as impractical, may yet find application in, for example, epistemic reasoning when carefully constrained

Degree project for Master of Science with a major in Conservation 2024, 60 HEC Second Cycle 2024:33This thesis investigates the preservation challenges associated with the concrete statue named Ingeborg, created by Gerhard Henning. The primary aim is to understand the degradation processes affecting the statue and develop a focused risk assessment, especially due to its upcoming relocation because of museum construction works. The study explores material composition and structure using X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-Ray imaging, Temperature and Relative Humidity datalogging, and vibration monitoring. Key findings suggest Portland cement presence, a non-fluctuating environmental condition, and internal metal armature. The research highlights the need for refined preservation strategies for concrete artworks, emphasizing risks posed by physical forces and environmental factors. The insights aim to enhance the museum’s conservation practices and inform broader discussions within cultural heritage preservation

    No full text
This paper aims to present, compare, and analyze the iconoclasm of archaeological heritage in conflict zones, and how these destructive acts are used by its perpetrators to achieve distinct goals. It will deal with two case studies; that of the iconoclasms that were carried out by ISIS in the territories they occupied in Syria and Iraq, as well as Russia’s acts in Ukraine since 2014, but with an emphasis on acts committed since the full-scale invasion of 2022. How these iconoclasms differ, what led to them occurring, and how the world at large reacted to them is at the core of this paper. To facilitate this, and to analyze how best to handle past and future iconoclastic acts with an aim to preserve cultural heritage, a memory studies perspective will be taken in analyzing how memories serve to aid in the preservation of the past after iconoclastic acts have occurred. Aspects of critical heritage theory will also be included, and in line with these theories, the possibility of whether or not iconoclastic acts themselves can be classified as creators of a “negative” cultural heritage that in itself both represents a culture and a time, but also cements the memories of what was, will be discussed

Making Home(land) and Reimagining Belonging in a Sea of Blackness: An Anthropological study About Blackness and Diasporic Journeys in Ghana

    No full text
This bachelor’s thesis is an ethnographic study about contemporary migration of African dias- porans to Ghana. By centering the voices and narratives of diasporic individuals who have re- located to Ghana, the study explores the motivations to move to Ghana and lived experiences of the participant of the study. The thesis draws on theories of racialization, holistic Pan-Afri- canism, diasporic consciousness, and emic concepts to understand how individuals identify themselves as, as well as how they imagine Ghana as a home and place of refuge. Through ethnographic interviews, participant observations and autoethnographic methodolo- gies, the research highlights how Ghana as a geographic destination is a space for healing and reconnection. Through the narratives of both historical and continental African diasporans, two diasporic groups that the research identified, it becomes evident that Ghana serves as a symbolic and material landscape for diasporans who seek to reclaim agency over their lives, bodies and futures. The thesis is written in English, and it argues that migration of African diasporans to Ghana, reflects not only a physical relocation, but a reorientation of belonging and freedom. The con- cept of belonging, as shown in the study, is fluid. Its fluidity is politically and emotionally charged, as well as shaped by memory, resistance and the hope for liberation

A New Era in The Evolution of PR: Exploring the role of AI in relationship-building and communication

    No full text
MSc in Marketing and ConsumptionThe aim of this study is to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) is currently transforming communication and relationship-building in the public relations (PR) industry. This is done through six qualitative interviews with PR professionals from different agencies. The study looks at how AI affects trust, authenticity and communication in daily work. The findings reveal that AI is being used as a tool that enhances ideas, content and research. It is rarely seen as a replacement for human expertise. It is evident that attitudes toward AI varies depending on generations and this is influencing how openly it is discussed and used. The study also shows tensions between automation and authenticity, especially in sensitive client work. By employing Principal-Agent Theory, Communication Theory and Service-Dominant Logic, the thesis argues that AI’s value lies not in automation, but in how well it is embedded in relational and co-creative practices. Therefore, the study offers insights into how PR practitioners can integrate AI while preserving the emotional foundations of their work

Can This Sensor be Removed? Investigating ML Models for Virtual Sensors in Injection Molding

    No full text
Injection molding relies on physical sensors to monitor critical variables such as pressure, temperature, and actuator positions. However, these sensors can be costly to install and maintain, especially in industrial environments with restricted access or calibration needs. This thesis investigates whether selected physical sensors can be replaced by data-driven virtual sensors and evaluates how different machine learning models compare in achieving this. Using real-world multivariate time series data from Tetra Pak’s injection molding process, six machine learning algorithms of varying complexity were benchmarked: Linear Regression, XGBoost, Feedforward Neural Networks (FFNN), Gated Recurrent Units (GRU), Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTM), and Transformers. Each model was trained to reconstruct the full signal of a target sensor using a fixed-length time window from the remaining sensors. Performance was measured using range-normalized root mean squared error (RA-RMSE) to enable cross-feature comparison. Results show that GRU and Transformer architectures consistently achieved the lowest RA-RMSE values, particularly for pressure and actuator-related sensors. Temperature signals were harder to model accurately, likely due to long-term dependencies beyond the available input window. Additionally, feature importance analysis revealed trade-offs in sensor removal some sensors are highly predictable but also crucial for estimating others. The findings highlight both the feasibility of using virtual sensors and the importance of model selection. Comparative analysis shows that model architecture significantly affects prediction accuracy, guiding future decisions in sensor design and digital transformation in manufacturing

    No full text

    No full text
This study aims to describe the relationships and interactions between humans and more-than- human actors in a seafood processing facility located in the fishing harbor of Gothenburg, Sweden. Species of seagull, such as great black-backed gull (Larus marinus) and in particular European herring gull (Larus argentatus), are the core more-than-human actors in this thesis. The study has been conducted using ethnographical methods such as participant observation, field notes, and interviews. A multispecies ethnography perspective has been applied throughout the process of the study. The group of informants that have been consulted consists of workers and business owners who work in or frequent the fishing harbor. The on- site waste management facility is proven to be a space fraught with conflict, and I analyze the metaphysical aspects of conflicts – how they stay connected to a space through time. I also show that the border between food and garbage as it pertains to the seafood processed on-site is fluid: changing depending on economic and cultural factors. Drawing from Anna Tsing’s and Tim Ingold’s theories of interspecies entanglements, I show that humans and more-than- human actors make up a hybrid community. The seafood processed on-site is also shown to be a participant in the process in its own catching, processing, and sale. In the second last chapter I give examples of positive and negative interactions between human workers and seagulls as well as a short historical example of human-seagull relationships on the Swedish west coast. In conclusion I argue that human-seagull relationships are constantly being formed in the fishing harbor, despite the workers’ lack of attention to them. The fishing harbor hybrid community is in the final chapter shown to be an entanglement of human, seafood, and seagull. The study is written in Swedish

    No full text
The involvement of the police in Swedish schools has increased in recent years. This raises concerns about potential consequences for students. Previous Swedish research on police involvement in schools is very limited and predominantly qualitative in nature. The aim of this study is to address the lack of quantitative research by examining the effects of principals’ discipline practices on their propensity to collaborate with the police. The empirical data used in this study are derived from The Swedish National Agency for Education’s 2022/2023 national principal survey. The study builds on the notion that the widespread involvement of the police in Swedish schools may reflect a shift from social crime prevention strategies, which emphasizes building social bonds, to situational crime prevention strategies, which emphasizes control and deterrence. Using multiple regression analysis, and controlling for principals’ access to resources in the form of student health team, teachers and school staff, as well as the school ownership type and proportion of students with a minority background, the results demonstrate that principals’ discipline practices have a significant positive effect on their propensity to collaborate with the police
