Estimation of Air Pollutant Transportation Equation in Surabaya using Kalman Filter Method

    Get PDF
Surabaya is one of big cities in Indonesia. Since the number of industries in Surabaya is increasing, the level of air pollution in Surabaya is also increasing. To deal with this matter, procurement of measuring instruments has been carried out in several locations in Surabaya based on the level of emissions issued by motorized vehicles, but increasing the number of measuring instruments affects the cost significantly. Therefore, the estimation of air pollution will make it easier to determine the level of air pollution in Indonesia. Kalman filter a method to estimate the state variable by using a system model accompanied by a measurement model as the initial value that comprises the prediction stage and the correction stage. The results of this correction stage will be the estimation results. Then it will be compared with the data at some locations. The results obtained are quite accurate at the point of observation with a relatively small error

Bifurcation Analysis of Toxoplasmosis Epidemic Control on Increased Controlled Rate of Suppressing the Rate of Infected Births

    Get PDF
The toxoplasmosis epidemic is an infectious disease caused by the parasitic Toxoplasma Gondii. This disease attacks the human immune system and other organs in the body, resulting in damage to tissues. The spread of the disease is carried out in various ways, one of them is eating foods that are less hygienic or not cooked properly, resulting in parasites remain active. Provision of controlled therapy is one solution in controlling the epidemic against suppression of the birth rate infected with toxoplasmosis. This study discusses the bifurcation analysis of a mathematical model for controlling the toxoplasmosis epidemic. Bifurcation analysis is carried out on the controlled rate and rate of birth control of toxoplasmosis. From the mathematical model of controlling the toxoplasmosis epidemic, stability and existence analysis are performed at each equilibrium point. Next, a function of two independent parameters is constructed which influences the spread of the disease, namely the controlled rate and the rate of infected births. Then, a bifurcation analysis of each region is obtained from each function of the two free parameters. From the bifurcation analysis, three regional conditions were obtained which showed the dynamics of the toxoplasmosis epidemic of two independent parameters with each interpretation of the bifurcation region

Analyzing the Effect of Variation in Shielding Gas Flow Rate and V Groove Type Towards Tensile and Metallographic Testing of GMAW Weld Joint of ASTM A53 and A36

    Get PDF
Steel is a metal that commonly used in fabrication, engineering, and reparation activities in the structure construction industry. ASTM A53 steel is a low carbon steel with 0.25% to 0.3% of carbon content so it has a high weldability. ASTM A36 steel is a low carbon steel with carbon content of 0.25% to 0.29% and is often used in the floating building industry. This study aims to determine the effect of shielding gas flow rate and V-groove type to the tensile strength of A53 steel welded with A36 steel by Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) method. The shielding gas level used is 100% CO2 with flow rate variations, including 15 liters/minute, 20 liters/minute, and 25 liters/minute. The groove types used are Single V-Groove and Double V-Groove. Tensile strength test result showed that in the welding process in this study, specimen with 25 liters/minute flow rate on the Double V-Groove had the highest tensile strength value of 516.73 MPa, with the narrowest HAZ width of 0,87 mm on A36’s HAZ and 1,22 mm on A53’s HAZ, and the smallest percentage of ferrite in the microstructure as much as 56.34% and 43.66% pearlite

The Impact of Economic Variables and Energy Consumption on Deforestation in Indonesia

    Get PDF
Indonesia occupies the third position as a country with the largest tropical forest in the world. In addition, Indonesia is also one of the countries with the largest deforestation rate in the world (Austin, 2019). The Center for International Forestry Research (2018) shows that the total tree cover loss o Indonesian forests in 2001-2018 was 36.7%. The impact of the high rate of deforestation in Indonesia is due to economic activity. In the demand side, the continued population growth has driven the demand for economic output tend to increase. Meanwhile, in the supply side, the increase in economic activity encourages industrialization and energy consumption, especially non- renewable energy because of its relative low cost. Both from the demand and supply side drive deforestation for infrastructure development. This study aims to analyze the effect of economic variables and energy consumption on deforestation in Indonesia. By using the Autoregressive-Distributed Lag (ARDL) methods and Error Correction Model (ECM), we use time series data from 1980-2017 sourced from the World Bank, OECD, IEA and CIFOR. We estimate that there is a statistically significant effect between economic variables and energy consumption on deforestation rates in Indonesia. The results of our research are expected to provide policy recommendations to the government in order to implement a sustainable economic development program with an environmental perspective

Design of an Optimum Battery Electric Fishing Vessel for Natuna Sea

    Get PDF
Natuna Sea is one of the places in Indonesia, which has a high potency of fish up to one million ton per year. Fisherman in Indonesia relies too much on the fossil fuel, which has limited resources. The author wants to redesign the fishing vessel into the battery electric fishing vessel that can be recharge to reduce the use of fossil fuel and also to increasing the revenue of the fisherman. To minimize the capacity of the battery, the fishing activities concept is also change into centralized fishing activities which the activities is centralized in an open sea and has the offshore building as the fishing base that has power station to recharge the batteries and cold storage to collect all the fishes. As the object to redesign, it is used 10 GT purse seine fishing vessel. As the results of the calculation, it gets the total battery capacity 6000 Ah for operation 11 hours (4 hours travel time, 6.5 hours fishing activities, and 0.5 hours break). Based on the technical and economic analysis, it can be concluded that the battery electric fishing vessel has a better revenue and fewer expenses than the diesel-powered fishing vessel
