A Comparative Strategy Using PI & Fuzzy Controller for Optimization of Power Quality Control

    Get PDF
This paper explores the analytical study and simulation of fuzzy logic controller and PI controller, to control the dc output voltage of shunt active power filter for harmonic reduction and power quality improvement in case of nonlinear load. Here we have exercised an effort to design and evaluate a converter to compensate the harmonics for 1-phase AC to DC bridge rectifier which is working as the main converter in unregulated mode. The work depends on the scheme where an ancillary converter is linked in shunt with the main or primary converter whose turn on and turn off time is controlled by an appropriate controller (pi/fuzzy logic) for harmonic compensation of the primary converter which is working as nonlinear load. The Model of converter is proposed on MATLAB\SIMULINK Software and the results are analyzed satisfactorily.

Controller Design for Electric Motor Derived Vehicle

    Get PDF
In this paper, proportional and integral based controller is designed for controlling the output voltage of battery. This battery is used for operating an electric motor derived vehicle. It has been represented that without any control mechanism the output voltage cannot be controlled and it will give a large deviation in output voltage in terms of error signal and that will decline the battery output current as a result battery power output will reduce and therefore the performance of electric motor derive vehicle will go down in terms of power and torque to derive vehicle. So, it is mandatory to maintain the output voltage of the battery and that can be achieved by a proper feedback control system. A PI based controller is designed and implemented for this electric motor derived vehicle in the present paper. Paper demonstrates how the results improve in presence of controller circuit for this electric motor derived vehicle

EMR helped improve services to patients by delivering organization and accuracy of patient information, but issues regarding security breaches and medical identity theft are growing concerns. This paper enhance the current EMR system by integrating modified encryption. The simulation used modified Blowfish algorithm in an EMR system that focuses on four goals: 1) define the requirements, 2) design and identify features, 3) develop the EMR incorporating added security mechanism using modified Blowfish algorithm, and 4) test the application with sample data. Based on the results, the incorporation of the encryption was successful based on testing and checking done on the input terminal and the database server. Data inputted on the EMR system was successfully encrypted before transmission and decrypted only on the terminal for viewing. Performance results show that without encryption, saving took an average of 87.8ms while encrypted, it acquired 88.8ms, a difference of 1ms can be noted. The minimal difference is because of the size of the data. The average decryption time of all records using modified algorithm took 1342ms while using plaintext took 1322ms. The decryption time is higher by 20ms due to the application of the decryption algorithm

Nowadays, huge data bases are required to store the Digital medical images so that they can be accessed easily on requirement. To retrieve the diagnostic images, radiologist and physicians are using Content based image retrieval (CBIR). Algorithms extract features like texture, edge, color and shape from an image in CBIR systems and these extracted features from the input and are compared for similarity with the features of images in database. In this paper, Lossless compression is used for storage and effective transmission in inadequate bandwidth. Visually lossless image compression is obtained using the Daubechies wavelet with Huffman coding. Gabor transforms are utilized to extract the shape and texture features from the images. Features are selected with Mutual Information (MI) and the proposed wrapper based Cuckoo Search (CS) technique. Extracted features are fed as input to the proposed partial Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) for the classification. The network is optimized hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization and Cuckoo Search. It was observed that the classification accuracy acquired is satisfactor

It is probable that future power transmission systems will contain more HVDC-VSC links (High Voltage Direct Current-Voltage Source Converter) leading to a growing complexity in the study of its problem and so do the transient stability problems which are yet to be determined. In this context, this paper presents an efficient method to resolve this problem. Its main objective consists of improving transient stability of the AC/DC (Alternating Current/ Direct Current) power system network using FACTS (Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems). The overall performance of the FACTS was evaluated in an IEEE 14 bus test system by nonlinear simulations carried out using Matlab environment to check the performance of FACTS (TCSC, Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor). The obtained results showed the effectiveness and robustness of FACTS in improving the transient stability of the systemt

Real time applications with strict QoS like delay sensitive applications require an advanced technology to adopt them. This is where Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) fulfills this requirement. With this ever evolving technology the need for improvements is required. Packet scheduling is one of the important key features of LTE-A, where it dictates user selection and transmission of those user’s packets based on the priority of the users to reach the receiver correctly. Packet scheduling is one mean to achieve those QoS requirements that real-time applications require. Such algorithms are HARQ Aware Scheduling Algorithm (HAS), Retransmission Aware Proportional Fair Algorithm (RAPF), Chase Combining Based Max C/I Scheduling and Maximum- Largest WeightedDealy First algorithm (M-LWDF). In this paper, M-LWDF is one of the best algorithms in LTE-A which was chosen for further investigated to support QoS in high mobility environment. Packet Loss Ratio (PLR), and Mean User Throughput performance measures were used to validate the performance of M-LWDF algorithm against other algorithms using similar mobile environment. Simulation results indicate the capability of M-LWDF algorithm within the threshold of the performance measures against other benchmarks where it has demonstrated more efficiency to support and improve the performance of real-time multimedia traffic

    Get PDF
Electroencephalogram (EEG) acquisition systems are widely used as diagnostic and research tools. This document shows the implementation of a reconfigurable family of three affordable 8-channels, 24 bits of resolution, EEG acquisition systems intended for a wide variety of research purposes. The three devices offer a modular design and upgradability, permitting changes in the firmware and software. Due to the nature of the Analog Front-End (AFE) used, no high-pass analog filters were implemented, allowing the capture of very low frequency components. Two systems of the family, called “RF-Brain” and “Bluetooth-Brain”, were designed to be light and wireless, planned for experimentation where movement of the subject cannot be restricted. The sample rate in these systems can be configured up to 2000 samples per second (SPS) for the RF-Brain and 250 SPS for the Bluetooth-Brain when the 8 channels are used. If fewer channels are required, the sampling frequency can be higher (up to 4 kSPS or 2 kSPS for 1 channel for RF-Brain and Bluetooth-Brain respectively). The third system, named “USB-Brain”, is a wired device designed for purposes requiring high sampling frequency acquisition and general purpose ports, with sampling rates up to 4 kSPS
