The Segmentation Analysis of Retinal Image Based on K-means Algorithm for Computer-Aided Diagnosis of Hypertensive Retinopathy
Computer-aided diagnosis of hypertensive retinopathy (CAD-HR) is performed by analyzing the retinal image. The analysis is carried out in several stages, one of which is image segmentation. The segmentation carried out so far generally uses a region-based and threshold-based approach. There is not yet a clustering-based approach, and there has been no previous analysis of why clustering-based is not yet widely used. This study aims to conduct clustering-based Segmentation analysis, specifically k-means clustering in CAD-HR. The research method used is divided into four stages, namely preprocessing, segmentation, feature extraction using fractal dimensions, statistical analysis for classification, and classification. Testing is done using the DRIVE and STARE datasets. The results of statistical tests showed that the number of clusters 3 was able to provide a significant difference between the fractal positive and negative dimensions of hypertensive retinopathy. The model of CAD-RH using the k-means algorithm for segmentation method is able to provide 80% sensitivity performance. The k-mean algorithm can be used as an alternative to segmenting retinal blood vessels
A New Topology of a Single-Phase Five-Level Inverter
The power inverter technology with low harmonics content is used for many applications, such as in new and renewable energy sector. In the last decades, some researchers explored its inverter to minimize the harmonics content, and one of the solutions is a five-level inverter. A single-phase five-level inverter has a good performance in power conversion and improved performance. Nevertheless, the conventional five-level inverter topology always deals with many power semiconductor switches and a complex control algorithm. This paper, therefore, presents a new topology of a five-level inverter using four active switches. The new topology can work well as a single phase-five-level inverter with a novel Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) control algorithm using level-phase shifted carrier strategy. The new inverter has a simple power circuit and control strategy. The verification of this research is a simulation and prototype implementation, carried out in a laboratory. The results show that the proposed control strategy is capable of achieving five-level with a simple control strategy
Development of a Low-Cost Wireless Bee-Hive Temperature and Sound Monitoring System
Precision beekeeping requires data acquisition, data analysis, and applications where the initial phase data on the beehive plays a fundamental role. This method of apiculture could be used to measure different bee colony parameters in real time, leveraging on wireless sensing technologies, which aid monitoring of a bee colony, and enhances the monitoring of infectious diseases like colony collapse disorder–a major loss in the management of honey bee population. In this paper, a low-cost wireless technology-based system, which measures in real-time, the temperature in and around the beehive, and the sound intensity inside the hive is presented. This monitoring system is developed using an Arduino microprocessor, an ESP8266 communication module, and a web-based server. The proposed system provides valuable information concerning the bee colony behavior in terms of temperature variations and sound characteristics. Based on the measured temperature and sound information, colony beekeepers could easily detect events like increased food usage by the bees, breeding start time, pre-swarming action, actual swarming pattern, and the bee colony's death

In this paper, the proposed antenna consists of a single transmission line for 6-elements microstrip array antenna using Rogers RT5880 substrate material with a dielectric constant (εr) of 2.2 and thickness of 0.787 mm for navigation applications. The array structures of unequal patches placement are proposed with corporate feed line and H-shaped configurations are employed on the substrate and used the microstrip feed line with a corporate feed network excited via 50 Ω with T-junction method to control the feed for each group. 6-elements microstrip array antenna has operated at the resonant frequency of 1.27 GHz was obtained between the frequency from 1.2663 GHz to 1.2734 GHz where the S11-parameters of the structure designed and simulation below than <-10 dB. The analysis shows the antenna gain has increased 72.6% with high directivity as compared to single elements microstrip antenna. The radiation characteristics and other array parameters are evaluated with respect to the application requirements. However, circular polarization has obtained in 6-elements array antenna as the axial ratio is successfully achieved below than -3dB. The antenna efficiency, the current distribution, VSWR, and S11-parameters of the proposed 6-elements CP microstrip array antenna have been presented and discussed in detail. The design methodology and the measurement results have been presented and discussed in this paper

Effective Visible Light Communication System for Underground Mining Industry
Adequate lightening and efficient communication technology have prime importance for safe underground mining communication system operations. Existing conventional light and communication systems used in underground mines are not very efficient solutions due to heavy power and maintenance requirements. Also, efficient communication technology is required for instantaneous reporting of any potential disaster event under hazardous underground environment. In this paper, we propose light fidelity (Li-Fi) as an efficient way of incident reporting as well as source of illumination for mines. Visible light communication (VLC) system is being used in mines operations, to support communication-blind areas. It exhibits superior performance over traditional radio frequency (RF) communication systems, in terms of low energy consumption, higher data rates achieved, and wide frequency band (430 − 790) T Hz. In this paper, we present VLC system for safe and reliable mining operations and analyze and discuss corresponding channel impulse response (CIR). We consider effect of shadowing and dust on our optical channel model. We compare the performance of our system with available methods in terms of bit error rate (BER), CIR, and prove the superiority of our proposed system

Denoising using Self Adaptive Radial Basis Function
This paper presents an adaptive form of the Radial basis function neural network to correct the noisy image in a unified way without estimating the existing noise model in the image. Proposed method needs a single noisy image to train the adaptive radial basis function network to learn the correction of the noisy image. The gaussian kernel function is applied to reconstruct the local disturbance appeared because of the noise. The proposed adaptiveness in the radial basis function network is compared with the fixed form of spreadness and the center value of kernel function. The proposed solution can correct the image suffered from different varieties of noises like speckle noise, Gaussian noise, salt & pepper noise separately or combination of noises. Various standard test images are considered for test purpose with different levels of noise density and performance of proposed algorithm is compared with adaptive wiener filter
Reducing Beat Frequency Oscillation in a Two-phase Sliding Mode-controlled Voltage Regulator Module
During static and dynamic loading conditions, voltage regulator modules (VRMs) are expected to provide regulated voltage with minimal ripple even at high current requirement. Compared to regular power supplies, VRMs repetitively experience high-frequency loading conditions that is greatly dependent on the software running in the processor utilizing them. In the scenario that when the transient load frequency is near the VRM’s switching frequency, high-magnitude and low-frequency oscillations are observed at the phase currents. This phenomenon is called the beat frequency oscillation. In this study, the sliding mode control principle is employed to both the voltage and current share loops of the VRM to reduce the phase currents’ beat frequency oscillations. A fixed frequency sliding mode controller is derived and extensively evaluated using the PSIM simulator. Our results show that while maintaining equal load sharing among VRMs at less than 5% sharing error and various types of loading conditions, the sliding mode controller can reduce the beat frequency oscillation phenomenon to 20 kHz at maximum with reduced peak current values. The output voltage is also regulated within the desired ±1.65% band
