    Assembling rotations: how consumers put objects they collect to use

Through the theory of rotations, the authors explain how consumers manage the tensions they encounter when putting objects they collect to use. Design/methodology/approach This study analyses data from 41 interviews with digital music and sneaker collectors through the lens of DeLandian assemblage theory. Findings Consumers use collected objects to benefit from their useful functions and they manage the tensions of these uses by assembling “rotations” of objects. Rotations are extracted from within a wider collection and are updated to balance desires to preserve and use the same objects. Research limitations/implications This research develops insights germane to digital music and sneaker collecting contexts. However, it offers transferable implications. These concern objects being desirable to collect for their functional uses in addition to their special meanings, that objects’ capacities for such uses can be eroded because of use, and that digital and physical object materialities can result in rotations operating at different scales and speeds of consumption. Practical implications The practitioner implications engender opportunities for objects that are primarily valued for their useful functions to find roles in collections via rotational use alongside more traditional collectables that are valued for their meanings. Originality/value This study contributes to marketing scholarship by accounting for contexts in which collected objects are used by consumers. Moreover, it contributes to research that uses assemblage theory as a lens by conceptualising a recursive loop relationship that can drive cascading changes between multiple consumption assemblages.26 p

    Contains fulltext : 325460.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Open Access)Breathing is usually automatic, but in Parkinson’s disease, this automatic function may be impaired. Although respiratory symptoms were noted as early as 1817, they are still underestimated today. This thesis explores the symptoms, recognition, impact, and treatment of respiratory dysfunction in Parkinson’s patients. A qualitative study identified four profiles of respiratory dysfunction and their consequences: • Profile 1: Loss of automatic breathing. • Profile 2: Episodes of breathlessness or rapid, shallow breathing triggered by physical exertion, fatigue, postural deformities, stress, or anxiety. • Profile 3: Stress and anxiety triggered episodes of breathlessness. • Profile 4: Decreased cough strength and more frequent coughing. A survey of 939 patients showed that 44.3% experienced respiratory symptoms, categorized into dyspnea (breathing difficulty) associated with female sex, greater rigidity and anxiety and dystussia (coughing difficulty) associated with swallowing and speech complaints. Early recognition of these symptoms may prevent complications like pneumonia. Dopaminergic medication can help, but may also cause biphasic episodes of breathlessness and reduced respiratory function. Respiratory training, such as EMST and IMST, proved effective. EMST and air stacking improves swallowing and coughing; IMST enhances voice (phonatory) function.     Contains fulltext : 324819.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Open Access)Facial feminization surgery (FFS) is essential for transgender women seeking alignment between facial appearance and gender identity. Frontal bone and sinus reshaping is a key component of FFS to achieve a more traditionally feminine contour. This retrospective study evaluates the effectiveness of frontal debossing by comparing pre- and postoperative volumetric and morphometric data. Sixteen patients who underwent frontal debossing at the University Hospital Basel between 2020 and 2024 were included. Preoperative and postoperative CT or CBCT scans were used to assess volume changes in the frontal bone, frontal sinus, and bilateral supraorbital rims. Additionally, changes in the nasofrontal angle were measured. Significant volume reductions were observed in all analyzed structures: left supraorbital rim (mean reduction 792.28 mm(3)), right supraorbital rim (726.19 mm(3)), frontal bone (2930.81 mm(3)), frontal sinus (2508.84 mm(3)), and combined frontal structures (3251.83 mm(3)). The nasofrontal angle increased by an average of 21.71°, indicating a substantial improvement in upper facial contour. These results support the clinical value of frontal debossing as an effective and safe component of FFS, providing quantifiable improvements in facial morphology and symmetry. This study further underscores the importance of individualized planning and objective outcome assessment in gender-affirming craniofacial surgery.01 november 202
