Cognitive Rehabilitation Integrated with Motor Rehabilitation in Oncological People
Usual anticancer therapies may result in cancer-related cognitive impairment, or worsen it if the patient is already affected. Cognitive rehabilitation is the most effective way of dealing with cognitive impairment, especially together with motor rehabilitation. A patient-centred care approach will give even better results. Neuropsychological rehabilitation starts after an evaluation of the patient’s cognitive, psychological and behavioural function levels by a psychologist. In this context, mindfulness, yoga and meditation can be helpful supporting activities. The process is completed by motor rehabilitation, according to the biopsychosocial pattern, which is based on the interaction of biological, psychological and socio-cultural factors. For instance, the execution of motor exercise creates new sinaptic connections, strengthening brain functions.Usual anticancer therapies may result in cancer-related cognitive impairment, or worsen it if the patient is already affected. Education for a New Global Civilization
Grounded in Daisaku Ikeda’s philosophy of ningen kyōiku, or human education, alongside his lifelong commitment to fostering a society serving the essential needs of education, this article interrogates his annual commemorative proposals in light of current European political and pedagogical trends. The aim is to elucidate Ikeda’s vision of a new global civilization, and clarify the role of education in achieving this vision. Ikeda’s distinctive approach is characterized by a focus on inner change as the catalyst for societal, gradualist, non-violent change. Throughout the four decades during which Ikeda submitted his proposals (1983-2022), Ikeda articulated a coherent framework geared towards supporting the development of a pluralistic and peaceful society, based on reverence for the inherent dignity of life, in which individuals can thrive and dialogic relationships are cultivated across linguistic, cultural, and national boundaries. Intertextual discourse unfolding through Ikeda’s proposals brings together pressing geopolitical and social issues, recent and ancient philosophical and literary stimuli, nuclear weapons and the environmental crisis, and introduces concepts from the Mahayana Buddhist tradition, often articulated as concrete educational proposals and practices. This article retraces key concepts and arguments as leads for a dialogic reflection on what scholars, researchers, and practitioners of education can do to bring society “from a culture of war characterized by conflict and confrontation, to a culture of peace based on cooperation and creative coexistence”. After examining Ikeda’s critique of modern civilization with specific attention to implications for education, the article presents open questions and interim conclusions, considered in terms of the different facets of curriculum. In light of the cogency, timeliness, and relevance of Ikeda’s proposals, the article invites further research and suggests to include Ikeda’s proposals in higher education curricula pertaining to pedagogy, political science, sociology, geography, history, and philosophy
On Personal Emancipation between Hermeneutics and Pragmatism
Pedagogy today seems to be increasingly reduced to the bare question of its techniques and the pedagogical task to the objective of the development of concrete skills and competences, in response to the determined needs of the market and society. It is because of the configuration of such a framework that the return to the reading of Antonio Banfi’s reflections on the philosophy of education and pedagogy seems to convey a character of topicality and opportunity. This essay attempts to update Banfi’s conception by placing it in dialectic with hermeneutics and pragmatism according to a theoretical line that on the one hand focuses on the mediative function of critical hermeneutics, and on the other brings the question of the person back to the centre.Pedagogy today seems to be increasingly reduced to the bare question of its techniques and the pedagogical task to the objective of the development of concrete skills and competences, in response to the determined needs of the market and society.
The archaeological investigations carried out at Kerkouane, as part of a scientific collaboration between the National Institute of Heritage (Tunisia) and the University of Sassari (Italy), have provided new insights into the history of this Punic city in the Cap Bon region. In this preliminary report, we present the initial findings from the research conducted between 2022 and 2023 and outline several paths of study aimed at placing this new archaeological documentation within a broader context. This context spans the Cap Bon from the Archaic to the Hellenistic periods (7th/6th-3rd centuries BC), considering the oriental influences introduced and disseminated in Africa by Carthage, as well as the dominant and dynamic indigenous Libyan element. These new data, combined with previous discoveries, will encourage more in-depth archaeological investigations for a better understanding of the city of Kerkouane.
This study presents a comprehensive examination of the interplay between art and society in Palaiologan Byzantium by analysing a paradigmatic instance of aristocratic patronage on the outskirts of Constantinople. The focus is on the now-lost Church of St. John in Selymbria (modern Silivri, near Istanbul), commissioned by the parakoimomenos and megas doux Alexios Apokaukos (c. 1280-1345), a key figure in the empire’s tumultuous history during the early 14th century. Following its conversion into a mosque shortly after the Ottoman conquest (1462-1463), the building had deteriorated into ruins by the late 19th century and vanished entirely after World War I. Nonetheless, a “virtual” reconstruction of the church is feasible through a comparative analysis of its surviving elements, little known historical photographs, descriptions made by 19th-century travellers and archaeologists, and a collection of capitals bearing the monograms of Alexios Apokaukos currently preserved in the Istanbul Archaeological Museum. This renewed scrutiny of the Church of Selymbria not only illuminates the patron’s engagement with the arts, but also reinstates the church’s significance within the Palaiologan architectural tradition.
In this article we aim to study the discursive practices through which Édouard Glissant structures his own chaos-monde’s utopia in the two essays La Cohée du Lamentin (2005) and Une nouvelle région du monde (2006), and in the novel Sartorius (1999). Unlike classical utopia’s search for order and harmony, Glissant’s model is characterized by the accumulation and the creolization of the elements. His goal is the statement of a worldliness imaginary as a totality of differences, opposed to the capitalistic standardized globalization.

Mondi possibili, eutopie e distopie in alcuni universi finzionali contemporanei
In this article, I examine the Possible Worlds Theory and its application to contemporary fictional universes, specifically focusing on eutopias and dystopias. I trace the historical development of the Theory from the 1970s. The Theory, emerging from formal logic and analytic philosophy, presents an alternative to binary thinking by considering all as fiction. I critique David Lewis’s approach, which eliminates hierarchies between real and fictional worlds, and instead propose to analyze alternative fictions, particularly counterfactuals, fantasy, and science fiction, from their relation to the real world and their moral dimensions. The study contrasts utopias and dystopias, suggesting the use of “eutopia” and “cacotopia” for better and worse states than the current world. I explore whether these alternative fictions challenge or reinforce the boundary between reality and fiction. Through the analysis of works like Laurent Binet’s Civilizations and Liu Cixin’s The Three-Body Problem, I investigate the role of play in these narratives and their implications for understanding contemporary culture’s obsession with alternative worlds
The surveys conducted in the Wadi Sarrat valley in the North-West of Tunisia further enrich our knowledge of human settlement in this region. Long known for the importance of the Roman presence there, this valley is also characterized by the concentration of protohistoric funerary monuments. The discovery of an important Rammadiya dating back to the Capsian period and the launch of a multidisciplinary archaeological project aimed at saving the site, after the rising waters of the Wadi Sarrat dam, enabled us to contribute to this topic through this research, which is only a first approach to studying a type of land use, namely a Berber village. Added to all the archaeological remains of other historical periods, this village provides us with a vision of the continued settlement in this valley over a long time in history: Rammadiya, Tumulus, archaeological site dating back to Roman times (Mahjouba the ancient Tituli), “Berber” village, collective necropolises dating back to different periods, agricultural developments and, finally, a recently constructed dam.
