Full text linkFrom a historiographical perspective, the coat of arms of the Salesian Congregation has not been studied within the discipline of Art History. This research emerges in that context, examining the first and only iconographic representation created for identity purposes during the early years of the Pia Società di San Francesco di Sales, under the leadership of its founder, don Giovanni Bosco (1815–1888). Although the coat of arms was designed twenty-five years after the Congregation's founding in 1859, it incorporated significant symbolic figures and elements, ultimately becoming an official visual representation within the history of Ecclesiastical Heraldry.Desde una perspectiva historiográfica, el escudo de la Congregación Salesiana no ha sido estudiado dentro de la disciplina de la Historia del Arte. En este contexto surge esta investigación, que aborda la primera y única manifestación iconográfica con propósito identitario en los inicios de la Pia Società di San Francesco di Sales bajo la dirección de su Fundador, don Giovanni Bosco (1815-1888). Aunque el escudo fue diseñado veinticinco años después de la fundación de la Congregación (1859), incorporó figuras y elementos simbólicos importantes y se consolidó como una representación visual oficial dentro de la historia de la Heráldica Eclesiástica
Tra numeri e parole: alcune considerazioni sulle disuguaglianze educative nella scuola secondaria di secondo grado sarda
Full text linkThis paper provides a critical analysis of the Sardinian educational system, with a particular focus on upper secondary education, by examining trends, demographic shifts, and student performance data drawn from INVALSI assessments. The investigation reveals how a convergence of structural and contextual variables has, over time, contributed to the deepening of educational inequalities across the region. School dropout, both explicit and implicit, is identified as a salient indicator of such disparities. Within this context, the study argues for the necessity of transformative and systemic educational policies, moving beyond ad hoc interventions. Central to this vision is the role of comprehensive teacher training – initial and ongoing – conceived as essential for promoting inclusive, equitable, and high-quality language education, capable of addressing the complex linguistic, cultural, and social diversity characterizing Sardinian classrooms.Il presente contributo analizza la situazione del sistema scolastico sardo, con particolare riferimento alla scuola secondaria di secondo grado, attraverso l’interpretazione di dati demografici e dei risultati delle prove INVALSI. Il lavoro mette in evidenza una pluralità di fattori strutturali e contestuali che, nel corso degli ultimi decenni, hanno contribuito a determinare in Sardegna marcate disuguaglianze educative. Il fenomeno della dispersione scolastica, sia esplicita sia implicita, emerge come uno degli indicatori più critici. In questo quadro, l’articolo propone una riflessione sulla necessità di politiche trasformative, capaci di andare oltre gli interventi emergenziali, e individua nella formazione iniziale e in servizio del corpo docente un elemento chiave per garantire un’educazione linguistica inclusiva, equa e di qualità

Hope Deferred: Post-Apocalyptic Fiction as Anti-Utopia
Full text linkThis paper explores contemporary post-apocalyptic narratives as cultural metaphors reflecting anxieties about societal collapse, environmental crisis, and the future. It argues these narratives often function as anti-utopias, depicting inevitable catastrophe and fostering fatalism rather than radical alternatives. Using a materialist and sociological approach, the study examines the epistemic role of post-apocalyptic literature, analyzing how these works bridge literary form and socio-political context. Case studies from Italian and international novels reveal a pattern grounded in realism and extra-literary references, warning of ecological and technological dangers but seldom imagining paths to transformation. This tension underscores a cultural crisis of imagination, where the apocalypse is both metaphor and reality, challenging hopeful futures in literature and society. Yet, feminist utopias present alternative visions, imagining new societies beyond collapse and inspiring change

Full text linkThis article presents a comparative analysis of the solarpunk novel I vegumani by Clelia Farris and the short film Pumzi by Wanuri Kahiu, through the theoretical-methodological perspective of posthuman feminism. By incorporating elements of utopia and dystopia, both works focus on the interconnectedness of the human and the (plant) non-human as a potential path to regeneration in a post-catastrophic scenario. Drawing on the theories of Donna Haraway, Stacy Alaimo, and Angela Balzano, among others, the article examines these case studies through the thematic trajectories of posthuman hybridizations, plant agency, and multispecies radical care, to explore potential modes of existence despite — and beyond — the Anthropocene.Questo articolo offre un’analisi comparativa del romanzo solarpunk I vegumani di Clelia Farris e del cortometraggio Pumzi di Wanuri Kahiu, attraverso la prospettiva teorico-metodologica del femminismo postumano. Incorporando elementi di utopia e distopia, entrambe le opere si concentrano sull’interconnessione tra l’umano e il non umano (vegetale) come potenziale percorso di rigenerazione in uno scenario post-catastrofico. Attingendo alle teorie di Donna Haraway, Stacy Alaimo e Angela Balzano, tra le altre, l'articolo esamina questi due casi di studio attraverso le traiettorie tematiche delle ibridazioni postumane, dell’agentività vegetale e della cura radicale multispecie, allo scopo di esplorare potenziali modalità di esistenza nonostante l’Antropocene e al di là di esso
Architectures from Future Past. Glimpses of Utopia in Dystopian Italian Comics
Full text linkWhile science fiction traditionally serves as an imaginative laboratory for alternative futures, contemporary dystopian narratives paradoxically reveal cultural stagnation and inability to envision possibilities beyond existing paradigms. In comics, space assumes an inherent structural significance as it spatializes time, with settings evolving to central narrative elements throughout the medium’s history. This study examines architectural representations in three graphic narratives — Fior’s Celestia, Bertolini’s Da sola, and Pinto’s Lo schermo bianco — where space assumes structural significance beyond setting. Through cognitive estrangement, these works deploy unrealized architectural projects as what Fisher terms architectures of anachronism that create temporal short-circuits. Our analysis employs interdisciplinary methodologies combining philosophy and ecocriticism to examine how these architectures function as heterotopic sites. These works articulate a paradoxical nostalgia for denied futures, creating fragile utopian spaces within dystopian frameworks where characters access modes of posthuman subjectivity that resist the endoapocalyptic condition of our reality

Full text linkAfter pointing out the theoretical difference between apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic novels, the article looks at 21st-century French literature that has tackled the theme of a post-disaster world. The analysis identifies the most compelling examples of this dystopian trend in the works of experimental authors who, over recent decades, have cultivated an ironic and playful approach to post-apocalyptic narrative. To illustrate the concept of “playful catastrophe”, a framework particularly apt for these works, the article then focuses on Éric Chevillard’s novel Sans l’orang-Outan (2007) and Choir (2010), a bizarre post-apocalyptic diptych. Après avoir rappelé la différence théorique entre roman apocalyptique et roman post-apocalyptique, l'article s'intéresse à la littérature française du XXIe siècle qui a abordé le thème du monde post-catastrophe. L'auteur estime que les exemples les plus intéressants de cette veine dystopique se trouvent dans les œuvres de certains auteurs expérimentaux qui, au cours des dernières décennies, ont développé un corpus ironique et pétillant de littérature post-apocalyptique. Pour illustrer le concept de « catastrophe ludique », qui convient bien à ces formes, l'article se concentre ensuite sur le roman Choir (2010) d'Éric Chevillard, une chronique de la vie d'une communauté primitive emprisonnée sur une île post-apocalyptique

No full textAs we know, the sense of emergency that defines our present moment does not only stem from the environmental crisis. Its political and social implications are explored, through notably different perspectives, in two of the most compelling books published this year: Senza riparo. Sei tentativi di leggere il presente by Guido Mazzoni (Bari–Rome: Laterza); and La fuga immobile. Lo strano caso della Generazione Z by Walter Siti (Milan: Silvio Berlusconi Editore). We present two articles on these books and on the issues they raise: the first by Gianluigi Simonetti, one of the most incisive voices in Italy’s current intellectual scene; the second by the editor.La congiuntura di emergenza in cui sentiamo di essere non deriva, si sa, solo dalla crisi ambientale. Le sue implicazioni politiche e sociali sono analizzate – attraverso scelte tematiche e approcci molto differenti – in due dei libri di maggior interesse usciti quest’anno: Senza riparo. Sei tentativi di leggere il presente di Guido Mazzoni (Bari-Roma, Laterza); e La fuga immobile. Lo strano caso della Generazione Z di Walter Siti (Milano, Silvio Berlusconi Editore). Presentiamo due interventi in merito: il primo di Gianluigi Simonetti, studioso e critico militante, tra gli esponenti più acuti dello scenario intellettuale di oggi; il secondo della curatrice della rubrica
