CULTURE, MEDIA AND POWER: UNDERSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICE THROUGH MEDIA REPRESENTATION
The study aims to examine the culture and ideological underpinnings espoused by Newsette, the official publication of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D), through examination of headlines of articles pertaining to the promotion of culture of community extension service of DLSU-D. Specifically, it aims to: (1) define the ideology espoused on community service; (2) determine the linguistic concepts; (3) and examine the manipulation techniques used by the publication to its readers. Data were obtained through discourse analysis of the publication’s headlines. Analysis of this study allows an understanding of the standpoint of Newsette on community development endeavors of the University. It identifies salient points in illuminating messages which are revealing of the social and cultural representations on community services in the University. More importantly, the results provide building material for opinion and explanation of the impression, acceptance and participation of Lasallians towards community extension services
ANALYSIS EFFECTIVENESS OF ADVERTISING ON WEB SERIES TO THE DECISION OF PURCHASING TROPICANA SLIM STEVIA (Study on Sore: Istri Dari Masa Depan Web Series)
Web Series includes new media to advertise, the effectiveness seen in this research is after viewers watch the Web Series "Sore: Istri Dari Masa Depan" will take action to accept the existing products therein. This study aims to determine the audience response from the effectiveness of interactive advertising on the Web Series media to purchase decisions, and know how closely and how much influence the relationship that occurs therein. The theory used in this study is Interactive Advertising Model, which uses four indicators to see individuals using the media that is, functions, information processes, structures, and outcomes. Then use AIDA theory to see consumer response to purchasing decision by aligning attention, interest, consumer desire after seeing advertisement message that has been presented which will cause consumer action will receive the product. This type of research is survey research, spreading questionnaires on samples of the population that have been determined. Of the 100 questionnaires that have been distributed to obtain the results of Product Moment Correlation Analysis showed a correlation coefficient of 0.587 included in a positive positive relationship. The result of simple linear regression analysis shows that there is a significant influence between variables with percentage of 34.4%, while the remaining 65.6% (100% -34.4%) is explained by other variables outside the model in this study. The conclusion is that the web series media get a significant and positive influence but only 34.4%, because the younger respondents are more interested in how to communicate with interactive, interesting, educate healthy lifestyle, and make alternative entertainment, while to do the buying action after seeing Web Series has not arisen perfect because 65.6% of purchasing decisions of products from other variables
VALUE OF LEADERSHIP IN SOEKARNO FILM (Study of Pentad Analysis on The Movie “Soekarno” by Hanung Bramantyo)
In Indonesia, the issue of corruption is still a serious problem. According to KPK, there were 670 corruption cases from 2004 to June 2017. The issue of corruption is often associated with the lack of an exemplary figure in Indonesia who is clean and has integrity. If it is connected with the world of film that often portrays the phenomenon of society, the scarcity of integrity figures makes many films that still present characters from the past such as in the film Sukarno. This research was conducted to find out how the representation of leadership values in Sukarno\u27s film used the advanced analysis method and the theory of dramaticism. This study concluded that the values of leadership in Soekarno\u27s film were shown in five important elements consisting of scenes, agent, act, agency, and purpose. Soekarno\u27s leadership emerged in certain circumstances when Soekarno faced the Dutch the character of leadership changed aggressively, bravely, without compromise. When facing Japan, Soekarno using political and diplomatic strategies. Also included with the people, Soekarno is more featuring a harmonious, democratic and family concept
ENVIRONMENTAL JOURNALISM IN YOGYAKARTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT DEVELOPMENT NEWS (Framing Analysis In Yogyakarta International Airport Development News in Kedaulatan Rakyat January 1st – February 28th, 2017)
Environment Journalism can be seen as effort to persuade people to participate the environmental conservation. One of environmental problems occurring in the Yogyakarta was the construction of Yogyakarta International Airport. The controversial related to the airport construction especially the environment impact which is covered by the local newspaper, Kedaulatan Rakyat. So that, it is important to know the implementation of environmental journalism on the news and how Kedaulatan Rakyat composing reality based on that case. The purpose of this research to know the implementation of environmental journalism in the Yogyakarta International Airport construction and to see how Kedaulatan Rakyat composing reality to be news. The research also use qualitative method with framing technique analysis and interview. The results of the research can be conclude that Kedaulatan Rakyat want to show the goverment side as priority in their news. Their news mostly reflect the economy sides than environmental sides. Kedalulatan Rakyat construc the reality become a news through some way, such as: showing the positive side of the constraction, the informant selection, and the emphasis of the words and sentences
THE STRATEGY OF KIE VASECTOMY/MOP METHOD IN ATTEMPT TO INCREASE KB PRIA LESTARI ACCEPTOR (Case Analysis in Badung District and Surabaya City)
reproduction by concerning about the rights of reproduction and gender equality. One of the attempt or effort is men participation in KB whether it is by condor or vasectomy. The socialization of MOP Method is not easy. Many contradictions come from both man and wife. The man’s side are hard to accept because afraid of erection dysfunction (not manly enough). While the wife’s side are afraid if their husband cheating. Government Program (BKKBN) is formulating the Strategy of KIE and the counseling service for vasectomy. The interesting phenomenon is the achievement from the government of Surabaya city on 2013 MGDs Award on the health of mother and child category with excellent program “Pioneering and Empowerment the Group of Vasectomy Participants”. In Badung District one midwife, Nyoman Rai Sudani won the “Bidan Teladan Nasional” (National Exemplary Midwife) competition in 2011 because of her achievement in increasing and forging the vasectomy acceptor. The aim of this research is synthesizing the strategy of KIE vasectomy in Surabaya City and Badung district. Result of the research shows, the usage of face-to-face communication is effective for vasectomy method acceptance. However, on its development, the officials think that this method cannot create public opinion. Therefore, there is activity called “gerebegpasar& terminal”. Together, (officials, health cadre and Man KB Community) introduce vasectomy to the crowd in that place. The term vasectomy changed to “KB Lanang”. Enthusiasms from the community in that place to discuss and continued to participate in vasectomy need to appreciate. The achievement of this method then adopted by government by improving with service infrastructure such as car and doctor. They who interested in this program could directly do vasectomy. In this case testimony is important factor on opinion creation and the behavior of vasectomy participant candidate.
MEDIA RELATIONS STRATEGY of HOTEL NEO + AWANA YOGYAKARTA IN BUILDING BRAND IMAGE
The high growth of hotels in Yogyakarta caused a fierce competition with each other, thus demanding a strategy to survive in the midst of intense competition. One of the strategies that used by the hotel is media relations strategy. This study discus about media relations strategy of Hotel Neo+ Yogyakarta in building its brand image. The goal is to find out how media relations strategy that built by Neo+ Awana Hotel Yogyakarta’s public relations in building its brand image. In this study, the author found that public relations at Neo+ Awana Hotel Yogyakarta not specifically put in a division, but the field of sales & marketing division operate the media relations activities. Media relations strategy run by Hotel Neo + Awana manifested in from creating actual event, introduction with press conference, public relations intimacy with media and facilitating media. The media relations strategy had done with the aim to get a positive image of the company in the eyes of the public
PUBLIC OFFICIAL’S PERSONAL BRANDING ON SOCIAL MEDIA (Content Analysis on DediMulyadi Fan Page Timeline on October 2017)
Personal branding using social media often used by public officials. Dedi Mulyadi is one of the public official that uses social media to do his personal branding. This research’s purpose is to identify personal branding on Dedi Mulyadi’s Fan Page Account on October 2017. Researcher explains this research using planning theory, new media concept, and personal branding concept. This research type is content analysis with quantitative method. Result of this research shows that content on Dedi Mulyadi fan page account’s timeline dominated by writing, video, and picture. Words that are used in the fan page are well-mannered, using Bahasa Indonesia or native language. The themes are about politics, economy, culture, environment, religion, health, tourism, social, sports, livestock, and combination of the stated topics. All the contents picture 8 concepts of personal branding. Dedi Mulyadi presents himself as an official who is skilled, religious, nationalist, humble, close with local culture, wise, and decisive. Dominant personal branding shown by Dedi Mulyadi as public official who is religious and nationalist could be seen on Purwakarta. Facilities that were built there and his advice to his city focus on religion and nationalism
STUDENT PERCEPTION OF UPN "VETERAN" YOGYAKARTA BRAND IMAGE AS A NEW STATE UNIVERSITY
This study aims to identify how the perception of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta students about the brand image owned by UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta, to know what are the obstacles and developments that happened after UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta became the country. Type of research used in this research is descriptive research type with qualitative method. The theory used is the theory of perception and brand image. Data collection techniques in this study were obtained through interviews, direct observation and documentation. The results showed that the brand image owned UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta post to State College of New State is a state defense that should be realized not only in the country but also on the international scene. Student perception on brand image UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta in its application is good enough, because it has applied discipline to the students, lecturers, and employees of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta, and the state defend has been attached not only to the students but also to the wider community. However, in the implementation and understanding of the state defense has not been maximal, so there are still UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta students who do not know how the brand image owned UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta
COMMUNICATION PATTERNS BETWEEN DRUG COURIER WITH CUSTOMERS IN SLEMAN DISTRICT
Drug trafficking is still happening today. This activity involves dealer, couriers adan users. Communication between couriers and users is increasingly intense when drug dealing transactions are carried out. In a general sense courier is someone who has the responsibility to conduct the exchange of goods between two or more people. The purpose of this research is to find out how they interact with users. Thus, a qualitative research requires observation in the field to obtain enough data to make conclusions. About the results of research, researcher founded that illegal drugs courier used communication symbols that are only understood by them and their communities. The drug courier profile has a staggering illicit in addition to being couriers, they also as a student. Research also found they use direct and indirect communication pattern during transactions
THE CONSTRIBUTION OF VILLAGE TOURISM IN INCREASING INTER-REGIONAL COMMUNICATION
The existence ofthe village has an important role in tourism today. Many rural areas are far from the city’s noise has a natural feel that has been transformed into an area with tremendous value. Various circles trying to find such those areas in order to enjoy the beautiful scenery that they rarely found in the cities. The villages are not only having a natural beauty, but also having people with strong traditions, culture and heritage, as well as their hospitality to all people. They are able to provide a verbal and non verbal information and communication without differentiate each of other. They don’t consider to whom they speaks, does not care about race, ethnicity, religion, or even class. They only provide an open communication without asking a reward. Each village tourism has a various natural resources that is rarely owned by other village tourism. Each village tourism also has its own unique characteristics that are attractive to be visited. The interesting thing that owned by villagetourism is a heritage, such as various types of traditional toys like Grobak Sodor, Dakon, Petak Umpet, Sunda Manda and many other. Those types of toys become a part of village tourism that are able to deliver the communication into the public at large and show that a village has a various natural resources that able to communicate and give a contribution in the tourism area
