Evaluasi Pertumbuhan dan Keragaman Genetik Tanaman Palahlar Gunung (Dipterocarpus retusus blume.) dan Palahlar (Dipterocarpus hasseltii blume.) Berdasarkan Penanda RAPD
Dipterocarpus hasseltii (palahlar) and Dipterocarpus retusus (mountain palahlar) are plant species of Dipterocarpaceae family that originate from West Java which population is getting rare. Information about growth development and genetic variation of palahlar is important to support culturing program and its genetic conservation. One of the techniques to study palahlar growth is through observation of the plant height and stem diameter increment. DNA analysis is use to gain information of palahlar genetic diversity. One of the DNA based molecular marker widely used as plant genetic marker is RAPD. There were 2 primary that resulting the best amplifying quality in genetic diversity analysis that was OPO-13 dan OPY 20. Analysis result with POPGENE 32 was resulting average genetic diversity between classes as much as 0.1869. The biggest genetic diversity for palahlar was on the medium growth class as much as 0.2498 dan for mountain palahlar was in small growth class as much as 0.2240. Cluster analysis shows that there were 2 big groups that were medium-high growth class group and small growth class group. Dendrogram shows that there were 2 species in one group, that was palahlar and mountain palahlar that was in one group of small growth class. The closed genetic distance existed between medium growth class group of palahlar and high growth class group (0.0383), while the far distance is between palahlar of small growth class group with mountain palahlar of mediaum growth class group as much as 0.1826
Pendugaan Biomassa Pohon Berdasarkan Model Fractal Branching pada Hutan Sekunder di Rantau Pandan, Jambi
Fractal branching analysis is a model of indirect estimation on tree biomass that based on the diameter and length of branches. This model put on assumption that the stem diameter before and after branching have the same value which formulated into functional relationship Y = a Db. The research aimed to find out the equation estimation of rubber trees biomass then compared to the equation of corrected biomass after Brown (1997). From this study, it has been found that the equation of above ground biomass for rubber trees is Y = 0.095 D2.62 and non rubber trees Y = 0.091 D2.59 while the equation of aboveground biomass after Brown (1997) is Y = 0.092 D2.60. Based on that grouping in which fractal branching model as a simulation of the Brown model has resulted the same graph. Kontribusi Repong Damar terhadap Ekonomi Regional dan Distribusi Pendapatan
This research has aims to learn the contribution of Repong Damar to regional economic and income distribution. The data for research consists of primary and secondary data. The secondary data is collected for the analysis of regional economic, and the primary data is used to calculate the income distribution. The analysis of regional economic with Location Quotient (LQ), and Gini Index is used to analysis the income distribution. The result showed that damar sector had become base activities and had positive economic growth at West Lampung. The value of Gini Index is 0.356 for South Pesisir District, 0.300 for Central Pesisir District, and 0.526 for North Pesisir District. The value of Gini Index for Pesisir Krui Region is 0.394. This value shows that Repong Damar had main contributed on income distribution in Pesisir Krui Region
Identifikasi dan Uji Patogenisitas Penyebab Penyakit Hawar Daun Pada Suren (Toona sureni Merr.)
Rhizoctonia sp. causes leaf blight on Toona sureni. This pathogen has characteristics such as right-angles hyphal branching pattern, the presence of septa, the absence of clamp connection, produced no conidia nor spores, and formed sclerotia. The disease symptom is necrotic type with brownish lesions which develop fast on the leaf. Being covered by the lesions, the leaf will be completely brown, macerated and then become wilt, dry and fall. The dispersal of the disease is mediated by the touching of the infectious leaves with the healthy ones. The experiment showed that Rhizoctonia inoculation on leaf, with or without wound, caused the seedling diseased
Perhutanan Sosial dan Peubah-peubah Sosiologi yang Harus Diperhatikan: Sebuah Tinjauan Teoritis
The inability of industrial forestry to benefit the rural poor or address the increasing rate of deforestation in Indonesia has led to a major shift in direction of forest resource management. In national forestry meeting, July 10 until 12, 2002, Minister of Forestry declared social forestry as national forestry program. Social science as a whole has had very minor role in forest management over the last century. Economics was the sole social science discipline welcomed by forest managers in the old paradigm of forest management. Economists helped forest managers determine the optimal combination of inputs to maximize financial benefits from a given parcel of forestland. They also assisted with market analysis, labor studies, and other financial dimensions of forest management. In this paper, we will first review the conceptual of social forestry. We also review literature on sociological variables that can help policy-markers improve the quality of public involvement in social forestry planning and development. Finally, we will give alternative additional of sociological variable social forestry in Indonesia such as gender equality, fairness, appreciation for local spesies, and mutual trust in stakeholder that must be taken note
Keanekaragaman Jenis Pohon dan Burung di Beberapa Areal Hutan Kota Bandar Lampung (Tree and Bird Species Diversity in Several Urban Forest Area of Bandar Lampung City)
This study investigated the inter-relationshep between diversity of tree and bird species existed in urban forest of Bandar Lampung City. The objectives of the study on Tree and BirdSpecies Diversity in Several Urban Forest Area of Bandar Lampung City are to know a) tree species diversity composition in urban forest vegetation, b) bird species diversity, and c) the correlation between those both components. The study conducted on six areas of urban forest in Bandar Lampung City. Tree sampling was measured within plot line having 20 m x 20 m size, while bird observation was done using direct watching method which was performed every morning (06.00 ~08.00) and evening (16.00 ~ 18.00) during tree days for each urban forest area. The biodiversity parameters used in this study are Margalef Species Richness Index, Shannon Biodiversity Index, and Modified Hill’s Ratio Index of Evenness. In all urban forest areas of Bandar Lampung City wasidentified 45 tree species (24 families) with index of species richness 6.22, index of species diversity 2.92, and index of evenness 0.60. Compared to closest natural vegetation (of Wan Abdul Rachman Provincial Park) the vegetation is very different (index of similarity 0.13). The study concluded thata) urban forest vegetation of Bandar Lampung City are generally dominated by domesticated species, 2) 24 birds species (16 families) were identified in all of urban forest area of Bandar Lampung City, and c) there is positive correlation between the tree species diversity and bird species diversity in urban forest of Bandar Lampung City
Pembangunan, Deforestasi dan Perubahan Iklim (Development, Deforestation and Climate Change)
Natural resources utilities to fulfill human’s needs have been occurring massively since a concept of “progress” became human’s dreams. To achieve the progress, development concept that means as serious efforts to avoid damage and strive into betterment has emerged. The first development ideology that was emerged and developed was modernization. Industrialization as main character of modernization caused improvement in various aspects of life. From environmental aspect, economic improvement achieved has caused various environmental impacts that harmful to human’s life, such as deforestation, forest degradation and climate change. Since 1980’s, deforestation has extended to a very complex environmental issue globally. Deforestation could be seen as a side effect of a particular policy or political action. On the other hand, deforestation caused other various environmental problems, such as global warming. Global warming occurred since there was an increase of greenhouse gases concentration in the atmosphere. The relation among development, deforestation, and climate change was analyzed through analysis on power relation and conflict of interest among actors involved. The analysis showed that various strategies in development and environmental impact mitigations that conducted by developing countries were actually a form of power and knowledge domination of developed countries. Through international institutions, they are offering at one ment concepts in various schemes which imply particular missions that basically they still want to obtain profits from developing countries without taking the risks from the execution of the schemes
Strategi Pemasaran Mebel Kayu Sentra Industri Kecil Pondok Bambu, Jakarta Timur (Wood Furniture Marketing Strategy on Pondok Bambu Small Industry Centre, East Jakarta)
Furniture is one of wood products to fulfill the household needs, especially for household furnishing. Wood product which is used for furniture tends to decrease because of the substitution products, i.e.: plastic, rattan, bamboo, glass, and metal. To continue their effort, small industries in Indonesia face hard problems and challanges. To solve the hard problems and challenges, then a new marketing strategy through the study on marketing strategy of small wood-furniture industry is needed. This research objectives are to know several factors which have relation toward marketing of woodfurniture and compile alternative small industrial marketing strategy of wood-furniture. Research conducts in Small Industry Centre, Pondok Bambu, East Jakarta from June to July 2008. Some tools are used in this research, such as: questionaire, calculator, camera, and stationery. The method of data collection is purposive sampling with total amount of responden is 30 people-small industry owners. Data analysis uses regression and SWOT method (Strength, Weaknesses. Opportunities, Threath). Result of the research for the regression equation of wood-furniture marketing Y= 9,001 - 0,6798 X1 - 1,4834 X2 - 1,4834 X3 + 0,4818 X4 with value R2 is equal to 51.3%. Linearity test model indicates that F Calculated is 6.57 in significat level α = 1%. Factors that influence wood-furniture marketing of sale volume are variation of product, wood-furniture price, distribution system and promotion. The relation between sale volume with variable of product variation, wood-furniture price, and distribution system is significant with negative direction. It means that smaller product variation, lower wood-furniture price, and more efficient distribution system; will effect to higher sale volume. Whereas the relation between sale volume with variable of promotion is not significant with positive direction. It means that activity of promotion does not have any effect on sale volume of woodfurniture. This matter is caused by the same source of raw material and product design of woodfurniture which is used by small industry has relatively similar form as source of semi-finished product from Jepara. Market position according to SWOT matrix at 1st Quadrant is called SO ( Strength- Opportunities) position. It means that small industry of wood-furniture has to create strategy by using strength to exploit existing opportunity. Applications of SO strategy are by selling product at cheaper price, improving service to consumer, using strategic location to attract consumer and improving product quality.
 
Forestry Utilization Policy: A Discourse Analysis
A series of discourse have constructed a social reality underlining the fact that Indonesian natural forestryexperienced a serious negative stigma. The stigma appeared due to its deforestation and forest degradation rate, likely un-ending multi-dimentional conflitcs, the increase of natural forest threat, the decrease of natural forest roles, and function in terms of social, economic and environment. This was addressed mainly to those of forestry utilization policies. This research has a look to analyse forestry utilization policies as an essential point, especially with regard to the discourse trend and to the frame of forestry stakeholder minds involving in the discourse which was focused on key policy miles stone and its implementation. It is considered to be essential since after much efforts of wiping the stigma off seemed to be unsuccesfully. The results indicated that there was a problem on stakeholders’ minds frame, which was considered to be a stagnant, especially on positioning and understanding forest utilization and sustainability. To cope with such a problem, it would need to improve at least four things, i.e: the link of science/knowledge-skills-policy, political interest, public participation, and actor networks. Reforestation Achievement Monitoring at Mining Area through Soil Index Model
The achievement of the reforestation is expected to reach a climax forest ecosystem. The objectives of this studywas to develop soil index model on monitoring of reforestation achievement. The study used a statistical approach to obtain soil index model to determine the achievement level of reforestation in mining area. The achievement indices for each variable were derived from the best regression model developed, while the weights of eachvariable were computed based on magnitude of regression coefficient for each indicator. The level of reforestationachievement index was initially developed by the use of 4 indicators, i.e. physical soil, biological soil, chemical soil, and litter index. Of those indicators, the study revealed that the heights weight for reforestation monitoring was chemical soil, which is composed pH, cation exchange capacity (CEC), macro-micro nutrient, and base saturation
