This study aims to describe the errors of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri Satap 1 Tinombo Selatan in solving story problems involving two-variable linear equation systems using the Newman method. Newman’s method identifies five types of errors: reading, understanding, transformation, process skills, and coding. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects include three students with different mathematical abilities: one high-achieving student (A), one medium-achieving student (T), and one low-achieving student (S). Data collection techniques involve written tests and interviews, with data credibility ensured through member checking. The data analysis process includes data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that none of the subjects experienced reading errors. However, all three made mistakes in understanding the problems. Subject T did not write what was asked in problem one and misidentified the question in problem two. Subject S also failed to state what was asked in problem two. All subjects struggled with transformation errors, mainly due to incorrect variable assignments. Subjects A and S made errors in problem two, while subject T also struggled with proper notation. Regarding process skills, subject A could not complete the division operation, subject T failed in algebraic manipulation in problem one and miscalculated multiplication in problem two, and subject S did not proceed to the next step. Finally, all three subjects made coding errors. Subjects A and S did not write conclusions, while subject T omitted and incompletely stated conclusions for problem two

This study aims to obtain a description of the results of solving number pattern story problems in grade VIII MTs Alkhairaat Tomini students from the perspective of self-efficacy. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. There are two subjects in this study, namely, subjects who have high self-efficacy and subjects who have low self-efficacy. The results of this study show that (1) related to understanding problems, subjects with high self-efficacy can mention and understand problems well, while subjects with low self-efficacy can mention information even though not as a whole. (2) in planning the problem solving, both subjects can determine the problem solving plan well, (3) in implementing the problem solving plan, the two subjects are consistent with the plan that has been made previously although, there is a mistake when the subject with low self-efficacy enters the value into the formula so that the results obtained are not correct. (4) related to re-examining the answers, subjects who have high self-efficacy re-examine the steps of the question processing process, while subjects who have low self-efficacy do not re-examine the steps to solve the questio

This study aims to Getting a description of errors and factors that cause errors in doing UAS for grade VIII students of SMPN 2 Galang, knowing the teachings of 2023-2024. This research is a descriptiveresearch with a qualitative approach. The subject of this study is to take 12 students of grade VIII SMP N 2 GALANG based on the value of UAS results under the KKM and teacher recommendations that can represent the answers of other students' mistakes. The researcher selects the subject by looking at the results of the student's final semester exam. Values that are below the MMC (minimum completeness criteria) will be analyzed for errors. The standard of KKM scores set at school is 75, so that students' UAS scores that are less than 75 are analyzed for errors. The results of this study show the types of mistakes made by grade VIII students of SMP N 2 Galang based on Newman's procedure: (1) errors in understanding. (2) errors in transforming, (3) errors in process skills, and (4) errors in writing the final answer. Factors that cause errors: (1) lack of students' understanding of the material that has been taught. (2) mastery of basic mathematical skills in the form of weak mathematical computing. (3) lack of understanding of concepts that make students easily forget the material that has been learned. (4) the learning model is not optimal, so that students still have difficulties in learning mathematics and tend to consider mathematics as a difficult and confusing subject.&nbsp

This study aims to obtain a problem solving profile using Heron's theorem in determining the area of a triangle. This research is a qualitative research with the subject of three students of class XI MIA 1 SMA Negeri 3 Palu, each one student with high, medium and low math ability. Subject selection for the classification of students' abilities using the standard deviation. Data were collected by observation, student answers and interviews. The problem solving used in this study uses the Polya problem solving step. The results of this study indicate that: (1) students with high, medium and low math abilities understand the problem by identifying information and command sentences on the task to determine what is known and asked. (2) students with high math abilities and making problem-solving plans use ???? = √????(???? − ????)(???? − ????)(???? − ????), while students with low math skills use ????=(a+b+c)/2. (3) high-ability students carry out the problem-solving plan according to the plan correctly, capable students are carrying out according to the plan but are wrong in solving it and low-skill students are wrong in carrying out the plan because the problem-solving plan made is not right. (4) high-ability students and are reviewing the results of their work from the beginning but moderately capable students are not aware of any mistakes, and low- skilled students do not re-examine the results of their work

The purpose of this study was to describe the Application of the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) Type of Cooperative Learning Model which can improve the Mathematics Learning Outcomes of Class VII MTs Politani Maccirinnae Tikke in material on Algebraic Operations. The research subjects were 30 students of class VII, consisting of 11 male students and 19 female students, and three students were selected as informants. This research was conducted in two cycles. The results showed that the application of the TAI-type cooperative learning model could improve student learning outcomes in material for algebraic operations in class VII MTs Politani Maccirinnae Tikke by following the phases of cooperative learning, namely: at the first meeting 1) conveying goals and motivating students, the teacher conveys material and learning objectives and motivate students to be enthusiastic and actively involved in learning. Next, provide apperception by reminding the material previously studied, 2) present information, the teacher briefly describes the phases of the TAI type cooperative learning model that will be applied in learning, then the teacher distributes worksheets to be worked on individually, 3) organizes students into groups -study groups, the teacher divides students into 5 study groups (Teams), 4) guides the work and study groups, the teacher gives new LKPD to each group and conveys that individual work results are discussed in groups. The results of the discussion are concluded in the answers to the LKPD (Team Study), 5) Evaluation, the teacher appoints groups in turn to present the results of their group discussions (Whole Class Unit), 6) gives awards, the teacher announces the best group from group learning results and gives awards in the form of applause (Team Score and Team Recognition), and at the second meeting the teacher gave a final action test (Fact Test). This is indicated by the percentage of students' classical completeness in cycle I of 57.14% increasing to 80.76% in cycle II. The results of observations of teacher activity in cycle I were in the good category with a total score of 37 and an increase in cycle II was in the very good category with a total score of 45. The results of observations of student activity in cycle I were in the good category with a total score of 36 and an increase in cycle II is in the very good category with a total score of 45
