Numerical Based Approach for Predicting the Response of Flexible Risers Under Oscillatory Flows at Low Re and KC Numbers
Flexible riser response prediction relies on semi-empirical models hindered by limitations due experimental data scarcity for particular modelling considerations. This paper presents a numerical-based approach for predicting the flexible riser response under oscillatory flows. A single freedom degree spring-mass-damper system is employed with the mass allowed to move in cross-flow direction. To discretize the Navier-Stokes equations the Finite Volume Method is used. To analyse the flow patterns in each regime the cylinder oscillating period is executed for long time. A bi-dimensional model is setting up using OpenFOAM simulations. Flow behavior, hydrodynamic forces and frequencies were analyzed for Reynolds values between 40-1000 using a KC number 7,9. For Reynolds less than 300 the behavior is in agreement with the literature. For Reynolds 300 or higher, some discrepancies appear in the system dynamics. The numerical results obtained from the numerical approach shows good agreement with experimental data collected from a flexible riser model
In competitive markets, flexibility is a key requirement to compete, group technology allows you to obtain this flexibility at a low cost, because it combines the advantages of mass production with the advantages of production by workshops Objective. Create a methodology that integrates the plans of: plant configuration, capacity and production, evaluating multiple criteria to select the grouping alternatives with better results. Materials and methods, five stages are articulated to achieve the objective: a. Creation of product families, b. Configuration of plant, capacity and production, c. Estimation of performance measures and d. Process of hierarchical analysis. Results: A consistent methodology is achieved regarding the sensitivity of the AHP evaluation of the performance measures, the individual variations in the criteria of the candidate configurations do not modify the decision found (configuration to be selected). Conclusion. It is possible to address the problem of cell formation considering an approach in which the problem is broken down into less complex sub-problems and thus include multiple grouping criteria at the time oriented to the environment where the methodology is appliedIn competitive markets, flexibility is a key requirement to compete, group technology allows you to obtain this flexibility at a low cost, because it combines the advantages of mass production with the advantages of production by workshops Objective. Comparison between some techniques of interpolators: An application in engineering
Abstract. This paper contains a detailed comparison between the Lagrange and Hermite polynomial interpolation when approximating a function. Initially the theoretical part about each interpolation procedure is exposed, followed by the exposure of the conditions of the comparative analysis between approximations, explaining the tests and calculating the error to be mad
Drawing from the results of a three months anthropological fieldwork research in the area of the eje cafetero, this article aims to dive into the question of local coffee consumption patterns in the Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia. The main object is to reflect on strategies of consumption in a patrimonial context by examining different discourses, ranging from the average “bad coffee consumer” to the slow rise of the chain of cafés especiales. Furthermore, the present article aims to offer a comprehensive analysis on how the structure of the coffee chain impacts consumption patterns, including a reflection on the benefits and limits of the development of specialty coffee.
The transnational feminist movement in the Americas in the 1930s
This paper aims to study how a transnational feminist movement emerged in the Americas and had a significant period of activity in the 1930s. It examines its goals and political strategies, as well as the impact of collective mobilization. Mobilizing collectively at the transnational and international level allowed feminists from the American continent to gain some victories as well as political legitimacy. We will see how mobilizing collectively at the continental level served them as a strategy of struggle to acquire symbolic or material resources. At times, it increased the legitimacy of feminism that feminists were unable to obtain in their countries. The detour by the international was therefore extremely useful to them to put pressure on their governments. Besides, they did not conceive of their struggles in isolation. They believed that in order to obtain civil and political rights, but also the maintenance of peace on the continent, they had to build a collective struggle that transcended their borders
Episiotomy is a common intervention used in maternity ward. It isdefined as a type of surgery in the perineum intended to facilitatethe expulsion of the product extending the birth canal. This hassome indications for its realization. The objetive of our study was toevaluate the episiotomy reasons in HUHMP, analyze whether this isdone by maternal-fetal indications, the assess the implementation ofa selective episiotomy may protect against lacerations and a reviewof the relevant and current literature on this subject.
