Assessment of marginal bone loss using full thickness versus par tial thickness flaps for alveolar ridge splitting and immediate implant placement in the anterior maxilla
Abstract. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of maintaining the periosteal attachment of the facial and palatal cortical plates on crestal bone loss that occurs at the margin of dental implants placed immediately in split anterior maxillary alveolar ridges. This was a prospective randomized comparative clinical trial. The study population included 22 patients with edentulous anterior maxillary alveolar ridges who presented for treatment during the period March 2012 to September 2013. The selected patients were divided randomly into two equal groups. All patients underwent a maxillary ridge splitting technique; a total of 43 implants were placed immediately. A full thickness mucoperiosteal flap was performed in the control group patients, while a split thickness mucosal flap was done in the study group patients. Assessments included measurements of the linear changes in the marginal bone surrounding the implants immediately postoperative and after 6 months. Measurements were taken from cross-sectional and longitudinal cone beam computed tomography images using special software. The partial thickness flap used in the study group decreased the percentage of bone loss by 9.5% for the labial bone plate, 7.9% for the palatal bone plate, and 3.5% for the mesiodistal bone plate

Formulation of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride loaded biodegradable nanoparticles: optimization of technique and process variables
Poly lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA 502 H) nanoparticles incorporating ciprofloxacin HCl (CP) were prepared by double emulsion solvent diffusion technique.Methods: The influence of the application of probe sonication besides the high pressure homogenization in the preparation of the secondary emulsion and its application during the solidification step were studied. Their effect on the particle size, Zeta potential and the percent encapsulation efficiency of the drug (EE %) were investigated. The effect of the addition of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) during the preparation of the primary emulsion was studied. Moreover, the effect of the addition of 0.1 M sodium chloride and/or adjusting the external and extracting phases to pH 7.4 were investigated. The selected formula was examined using IR, X-ray, DSC and SEM and in vitro drug release.Results: These formulations showed an appropriate particle size ranges between 135.7– 187.85 nm, a mean zeta potential ranging from 0.839 to 6.81 mV and a mean EE% which ranged from 35% to 69%.Conclusion: The presented data revealed the superiority of using probe sonication besides high pressure homogenization during the formation of secondary emulsion. Moreover, the results indicated that the tested factors had a pronounced significant effect on the EE%

Circuit Design of Glow Discharge Plasma Panel and Parameters Optimization
A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science (Physics)The one atmosphere uniform glow discharge plasma panel (OAUGDPP) is a kind of panel that allows making sharp and clear pictures of glow and cold-discharge plasmas. The panel is a sheet made of polystyrene foam. In our laboratory, the OAUGDP was created using two different circuits, traditional and electronic.
The diagnostic tool, which was used to measure the plasma voltage and plasma current, acted as the high voltage probe. A simple high-voltage probe is constructed from a pair of resistors, which is suitable for DC measurements. The voltage division ratio used by the probe during our experiment is (1:1000).
