VALUE ENGINEERING, VALUE ANALYSIS AND VALUE MANAGEMENT OF VERTICAL SLIP FORM CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM

    No full text
The value of a product or service is recognized according to the appropriateness level of its performance and cost. It can almost truthfully be said that, by this definition, value can be increased by either increasing the performance or decreasing the cost. While, a product is considered has insignificant value if it lacks either appropriate performance or cost. Therefore technology factor which has impact on the performance and cost of products or services in construction should be considered in their identification to gain optimum value. The objective of this paper is to assess the value engineering, value analysis and value management of vertical Slip Forming (SF) technology using value engineering by investigating its performance, cost, constructability and productivity in construction projects that are matching modern construction technology. SF is one of these techniques that have improved itself in the construction industry for few decades around the world. VE is a methodology used to analyze the function of the goods and services to obtain the required functions of the user at the lowest total cost without reducing the necessary quality or performance i.e. customer satisfaction. The approach of VE implemented is concerned with function improvement, time reduction, and improving performance through lesser consumption of energy, as well as, cost reduction. VE technique provides us with a systematic approach take in its account the design and construction of different construction projects, not making cost cutting while maintaining or improving the value. The application of VE principles encourage people to work better as a team, searching always to improve their system of production and services. It helps any organization to improve and investigate its resources with cost optimization

Phytochemical and Biological Evaluation of Cassia tora, L. Seeds

    No full text
In the present study the total and the defatted alcoholic extracts of seeds of Cassia tora Linn. (Leguminosae) were screened for hepatoprotective activity using adult Wister albino rats (120-170 g) as the experimental animals. Hepatic injury caused by carbon tetra chloride, was analyzed through estimation of AST, ALT, ALB and platelets in blood samples taken from the veins of orbital plexus of each animal as well as the histopathological examination of the liver. The effects of the extracts were comparable with standardhepatoprotective drug Silymarin. On the other hand GC-MS analysis was performed on the fatty acid composition of the lipoidal fraction for the seeds. The separated fatty acids were converted to their methyl ester and then subjected to the analysis

Vascularised versus Non Vascularised Autogenous Bone Grafts for Immediate Reconstruction of Segmental Mandibular Defects: A Systematic Review

    No full text
Introduction: This systematic review was performed to address the focus question " what is the various success rates and complications of both vascularised and non vascularised bone grafts for immediate segmental mandibular reconstruction" in addition, this paper reviews various forms, recent advances and possible complications of autogenously vascularised and non vascularised bone grafts for mandibular reconstruction that were previously discussed in the literature. Methodology: A thorough Medline database search performed on related terms yielded 389 titles. 202 studies were excluded after title screening. Out of 187 abstracts selected, 180 full text articles were obtained for further evaluation. Results showed that a total of 51 studies followed the inclusion criteria included in this systematic review. A primary analysis of the included studies showed that the majority were case series studies (37 articles) and only 5 Randomized controlled trials and 12 case reports were identified with most not providing objective outcomes of their results. Therefore quantitative data analysis and subsequent meta-analysis could not be performed. Results showed variable success rates and complications of different immediate autogenously graft forms. Conclusion: both vascularised & non vascularised bone grafts could be used with different range of satisfactory results depending on many factors such as the size and site of the defect, patient age, histopathology of the lesion, fixation methods and radiotherapy

Biointerface design that targets osteogenesis is a growing area of research with significant impli- cations in biomedicine. Materials known to either support or stimulate osteogenesis are com- posed of a biomimetic ceramic material, such as bioactive glass. Bioactive glass is osteoproductive, and the potential for osteoproductivity can be enhanced by the addition of proteins or other addi- tives designed to alter functionality. In addition, soluble growth factors are often added to osteo- genic culture on bioactive glasses, further intensifying the effects of the material. In this paper, synthetic peptide combinations, covalently bound to a three-dimensional bioactive glass network, are used to mimic the effects of the whole fibronectin and bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP) 2 and 9. Peptide-silanes possessing critical binding sequences from each of these proteins are syn- thesized and used to decorate the surface of three-dimensional (3D) nano-macroporous bioactive glass. MC3T3 preosteoblast cells are then assessed for differentiation on the materials in the ab- sence of soluble differentiation cues. MC3T3 preosteoblasts undergo enhanced differentiation on the peptide-silane samples over the standard nano-macroporous bioactive glass, and the differen- tiation capacity of the cells exposes only to peptide-silane surfaces approaches that of cells grown in chemical differentiation induction media

business bookfair2016xv, 232 pages :"Mike Grigsby provides business analysts and marketers with the marketing science understanding and techniques they need to solve real-world marketing challenges, such as pulling a targeted list, segmenting data, testing campaign effectiveness, and forecasting demand.Assuming no prior knowledge, Marketing Analytics introduces concepts relating to statistics, marketing strategy, and consumer behavior and then works through a series of problems by providing various data modeling options as solutions. By using this format of presenting a problem and multiple ways to solve it, this book both makes marketing science accessible to beginners and aids the more experienced practitioner in understanding the more complex aspects of data analytics to refine their skills and compete more effectively in the workplace"-- Provided by publisher."Marketing Analytics arms business analysts and marketers with the marketing science understanding and techniques they need to solve real-world marketing problems, from pulling a targeted list and segmenting data to testing campaign effectiveness and forecasting demand. Assuming no prior knowledge, this book outlines everything practitioners need to 'do' marketing science and demonstrate value to their organization. It introduces concepts relating to statistics, marketing strategy and consumer behaviour and then works through a series of marketing problems in a straightforward, jargon-free way. It demonstrates solutions for various data modelling scenarios and includes full workings and critical analyses to reinforce the key concepts. By starting with the marketing problem and then sharing a series of data modelling options on how to solve it, Marketing Analytics both makes marketing science accessible for beginners and aids the more seasoned practitioner in getting to grips with the trickier technical aspects of data analytics to refine their marketing skills and toolkit and compete more effectively in the marketplace. About the series: The Marketing Science series makes difficult topics accessible to marketing students and practitioners by grounding them in business reality. Each book is written by an expert in the field and includes case studies and illustrations so marketers can gain confidence in applying the tools and techniques and commission external research"-- Provided by publisher
