    STRAIN INDUCED WITHIN ANTERIOR ZIRCONIA CANTILEVER BRIDGES WITH DIFFERENT RETAINER DESIGNS

    Statement of problem. Zirconia cantilever bridge may be a restorative treatment alternative for the replacement of missing maxillary lateral incisor. Different preparation designs have been recommended, but still the effect of these preparation designs on the amount and location of strain induced within these restorations need to be investigated. .Purpose. The purpose of this study was to investigate the strain induced within zirconia all ceramic cantilever anterior bridges as influenced by the effect of retainer designs and direction of loading. Material and methods. A total of 60 all-ceramic zirconia cantilever bridges were constructed and divided according to retainer design into three main groups (n=20), Group I: Full coverage retainer, Group II: Three-Quarter retainer, Group III: Three-Quarter retainer with labial extension. Each group was further subdivided according to the direction of loading into two subgroups (n=10). Subgroup (V): Vertical loading (Parallel to tooth long axis), Subgroup (L): Lateral loading (45 degree from tooth long axis). Two KYOWA strain gauges were bonded, one at the lingual surface of the connector and the other at the cervical third of the distal surface of the bridge retainer using strain gauge cement. The samples were subjected to vertical and lateral loading (150 N) using universal testing machine. The strain induced in the samples was measured by a KYOWA strain meter

    The aim of this study was to evaluate the reliability of newly developed software in the assessment of orthodontic tooth movement 3 dimensionally. Methods: The sample consisted of pretreatment and posttreat- ment computed tomography scans and plaster dental models of 20 orthodontic patients treated with a hyrax palatal expander as a part of their comprehensive orthodontic treatment. Dental-arch measurements, including arch widths, tooth inclinations, and angulation parameters, were measured on the scans using InvivoDental 3D imaging software (version 5.1; Motionview, Hixson, Tenn). The plaster dental models were laser scanned and superimposed, and measurements were obtained digitally using the new software. Agreement between the digital models and the computed tomography measurements was evaluated with intraclass correlation coefficients, paired t tests, and Bland-Altman plots. A P value of #0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: High agreement, a nonsignificant paired t test, and no indication of agreement discrepancies were observed for most of the measured parameters. Conclusions: The results confirmed that the new software program offers a reliable tool for dental-arch measurements obtained from 3-dimensional laser-scanned models

    This work presents a comparative study on the development and validation of two analytical techniques applied for the simultaneous determination of hydrocortisone acetate (HCA), fusidic acid (FSA), methyl paraben (MPB), and propyl paraben (PPB) formulated as a topical cream. The first technique was thin-layer chromatography (TLC)-densitometric method, which was developed by separating the four components on silica gel 60 F254 using methylene chloride-methanol-benzene in the ratio of 10:2:5, v/v, as the developing system, followed by densitometric measurement of the bands at 240 nm. The second technique was the chemometric method using two models: principle component regression model (PCR) and partial least squares (PLS). The suggested techniques were validated in compliance with the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines and were successfully applied for the determination of the quaternary mixtures as prepared synthetically in laboratory and in the commercial topical pharmaceutical formulation.     EFFECT OF LOW THERMAL DEGRADATION AND VENEERING TECHNIQUES ON COLOR AND TRANSLUCENCY OF ZIRCONIA RESTORATIONS

    Purpose: This study evaluated the effect of veneering techniques and aging on the color reproduction, stability and translucency of zirconia (Y-TZP) all-ceramic restorations. Materials and Methods: Thirty all ceramic crowns were constructed and divided according to their veneering technique into three groups (n = 10/group).Group 1: Translucent Zirconia milled by (fully anatomical technique), Group 2: Zirconia coping was veneered by condensing and sintering VM9 low-fusing veneering porcelain (layering technique), Group 3: Zirconia coping was veneered by heat-pressing IPS e.max ZirPress fluorapatite glass-ceramic ingots (press-on technique). Low thermal degradation (LTD) using autoclaving for 8 hours was performed. Color parameters (L*, a*, b*) of zirconia crowns were measured with Vita Easyshade Compact (VITA, Zahnfabrich H. Rauter GmbH and Co. KG). Color reproduction, color stability, contrast ratio and translucency parameter were calculated before and after aging. Two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Tukey’s post hoc test at a significance level of p≤0.05 was performed
