Pseudopolar format matrix description of near-range radar imaging and fractional fourier transform
Near-range radar imaging (NRRI) has evolved into a vital technology with diverse applications spanning fields such as remote sensing, surveillance, medical imaging and non-destructive testing. The Pseudopolar Format Matrix (PFM) has emerged as a promising technique for representing radar data in a compact and efficient manner. In this paper, we present a comprehensive PFM description of near-range radar imaging. Furthermore, this paper also explores the integration of the Fractional Fourier Transform (FrFT) with PFM for enhanced radar signal analysis. The FrFT—a powerful mathematical tool for signal processing—offers unique capabilities in analysing signals with time-frequency localization properties. By combining FrFT with PFM, we have achieved significant advancements in radar imaging, particularly in dealing with complex clutter environments and improving target detection accuracy. Engaging engaged archives : revisiting Cartoon Theatre
This paper explores our interdisciplinary archival research project ‘Exploring Cartoon Theatre, 1965 -1992 – attempting proletarian public spheres across the long crisis’. ‘Cartoon theatre’ emerged in the alternative theatre movement of the mid-1960s to early 1990s, drawing on cartooning as a visual mode and the structure and iconography of comics – part of wider subversion of theatre practice for political agitation. In engaging with archival material documenting this form of performance, our methodologies are not only grounded in conventional dissemination through writing, but seek to reactivate the subversive spirit of this form of performance. After giving an overview of the project and Cartoon Theatre, we will discuss the potentialities of ‘reanimating’ historical performance work via forms of theatrical and illustration practice which seek to echo Cartoon Theatre’s embeddedness in the wider political movements of its time
The dream assessment : be bold, be creative and take risks!
Most students find assessments to be stressful evaluations of their learning. As a result, assessments are rarely considered integral to the learning process, let alone inspiring or exciting parts of their curriculum. Our poster challenges this assumption as fait accompli and presents the case study of a Level 5 Project Management Module with excellent outcomes and positive student responses to the assessment.
It illustrates how aspirational assessments can be achieved when it is authentic, relevant to students’ interests, and empowering. Images and audio files accessible via QR codes provide students' voices and support our argument that such assessments are possible. Additionally, we will demonstrate how AI pedagogies and Assessment as Learning inform and shape the assessment process to achieve desired outcomes. Finally, the poster will emphasize how a dialogue between institutional guidance on Assessment Design and local program-level practices can mutually inform each other, benefiting not only the student experience but also the academic staff
