新潟大学Niigata University博士(農学)Sustainable agriculture is at the forefront of modern farming practices, with a growing emphasis on optimizing crop production while minimizing environmental impact. The choice of fertilizer application technology plays a crucial role in achieving these objectives. Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.), a valuable crop globally, serves both as a source of human nutrition and livestock feed. To address the challenges of enhancing green soybean production while minimizing ecological harm, this study evaluates and compares the performance of different fertilizer application technologies. In this study we combined remote and ground surveys to allow a comprehensive understanding of the impact of these technologies on green soybean cultivation. The starter basal nitrogen fertilizer (80 kg/ha of NPKB - (8%, 20%, 30%, 0.7%) was applied together with sowing seeds 3 cm deep in the soil and the following treatments were installed: the conventional with only basal starter nitrogen application, deep placement fertilizer technology (DPFT) of 150 kg/ha of slow-release with lime nitrogen at 20 cm depth, and 2000 kg/ha of manure organic fertilizer application for compost treatment. Remote surveys are conducted using advanced smart farming tools such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), ground surveys such as soil plant analysis development (SPAD) measurements, and soybean parameters to assess the impact of fertilizer application. This study revealed that deep placement fertilizer demonstrated better performance compared to other fertilizer application technologies for soybean cultivation for both cropping seasons. DPFT, compost, and conventional fertilizer methods recorded yields of 2.7 tons/ha, 2.6 tons/ha, and 2.4 tons/ha respectively in 2022 while, for the 2023 cropping season DPFT combined with compost, DPFT alone, compost, and conventional recorded yield of, 1.31 tons/ha, 1.11 tons/ha, 1.1 tons/ha, and 0.98 tons/ha respectively. The findings from this study contribute to the advancement of sustainable agricultural practices and empower farmers with knowledge to make informed decisions for optimizing green soybean production.新大院博(農)第247
遺伝性非典型溶血性尿毒症症候群におけるW1034R変異型C3dに関する解析
新潟大学Niigata University博士(医学)Introduction: Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a rare form of thrombotic microangiopathy. Personal genome analyses have revealed numer-ous aHUS-causing variants, mainly complement-related genes. However, not all aHUS-causing variants have been functionally validated. Methods: An exome sequence analysis of a Japanese multiplex family composed of three patients diagnosed with aHUS in infancy and showing frequent relapses clustered in a dominant transmission mode was performed. Protein interaction between the C3d and C-terminal domains of factor H was analyzed using a quartz crystal microbalance. Results: Following filtering by heterozygous variants, amino acid substitutions, and allele frequency, the analysis revealed eight rare variants shared by the affected individuals. Variant prioritization listed C3 p.W1034R as the most likely candidate gene mutation in the affected individuals, despite being classified as a variant of uncertain significance. Binding of recombinant C3d harboring 1034R to recombinant short consensus repeats 15 to 20 of factor H was significantly sup-pressed compared with that of C3 with 1034W. Conclusion: C3 p.W1034R results in an inherited form of aHUS that often presents with recurrent episodes, possibly because of impaired interactions between the C3d and C-terminal domains of factor H. Following comprehensive genomic analysis, functional validation of C3 p.W1034R strengthens the molecular basis for aHUS pathophysiology.Molecular genetics & genomic medicine. 2024, 12(1), e2288新大院博(医)第1172
40-74 歳の地域在住日本人において、下肢および腰部の慢性疼痛は再発転倒と関連する
新潟大学Niigata University博士(医学)Objective:To determine the longitudinal association between chronic pain in the lower extremities and low back and the odds of recurrent falls in middle-aged and older people. Design: A cohortstudy. Setting: Communities in Japan. Participants: Participants were 7540 community-dwelling volunteers aged 40-74 years(N=7540). The baseline survey was a self-administered questionnaire conducted between 2011-2013.Predictors were presence of chronic pain in the knee, foot or ankle, and low back, with the degree of pain categorized as none, very mild/mild, moderate,or severe/very severe. Covariates in the multivariate model of chronic pain in a site were dem-ographics, body mass index, physical activity level, disease history, and chronic pain in the other 2 sites. Logistic regression analysis was used to calculate odds ratios(ORs).Interventions: None. MainOutcomeMeasure(s): Recurrent falls in the year before the 5-year follow-up survey. Results: Mean participant age was 60.2 years.Higher degrees of chronic pain were associated with higher odds of recurrent falls for the knee(P=.0002) with a higher OR of 1.48(95% CI: 1.11-1.97), for the foot or ankle(P=.0001) with a higher OR of 1.97(95% CI:1.36-2.86), and for the low back(P=.0470) with a higher OR of 1.45(95% CI:1.09-1.91) in those with any degree of pain relative to those without pain. Higher degrees of chronic knee pain were associated with higher odds of recurrent falls in women(P=.0005), but not in men(P=.0813).Meanwhile,higher degrees of chronic low back pain were associated with the odds of recurrent falls in men(P=.0065), but not in women(P=.8735). Conclusions: Chronic painin the knee, foot or ankle, and lower back was independently and dose-dependently associated with a higher risk of recurrent falls.A marked sex-dependent difference was also noted in the association.Yuko Nagashima, Kaori Kitamura, Yumi Watanabe, Keiko Kabasawa, Akemi Takahashi, Toshiko Saito, Ryosaku Kobayashi, Rieko Oshiki, Ribeka Takachi, Shoichiro Tsugane, Osamu Yamazaki, Kei Watanabe, Kazutoshi Nakamura,

日本における新型コロナウイルス感染症の伝播異質性の形成に関わる気温と人の移動の相対的役割
新潟大学Niigata University博士(医学)Abstract: We assess the effects of ambient temperature and mobility patterns on the transmissibility of COVID-19 during the epidemiological years of the pandemic in Japan. The prefecture-specific daily time-series of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, meteorological variables, levels of retail and recreation mobility (e.g., activities, going to restaurants, cafes, and shopping centers), and the number of vaccinations were collected for six prefectures in Japan from 1 May 2020 to 31 March 2022. We combined standard time-series generalized additive models (GAMs) with a distributed lag non-linear model (DLNM) to determine the exposure–lag–response association between the time-varying effective reproductive number (Rt), ambient temperature, and retail and recreation mobility, while controlling for a wide range of potential confounders. Utilizing a statistical model, the first distribution of the mean ambient temperature (i.e., −4.9℃) was associated with an 11.6% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 5.9–17.7%) increase in Rt compared to the optimum ambient temperature (i.e., 18.5℃). A retail and recreation mobility of 10.0% (99th percentile) was associated with a 19.6% (95% CI: 12.6–27.1%) increase in Rt over the optimal level (i.e., −16.0%). Our findings provide a better understanding of how ambient temperature and mobility patterns shape severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) transmission. These findings provide valuable epidemiological insights for public health policies in controlling disease transmission.Wagatsuma, K.; Koolhof, I.S.; Saito, R.
