Methods used by Head of Schools in Managing Conflict in Improving Teachers Morale in Public Secondary Schools in Chato District in Tanzania
Get PDFHead of schools in public secondary schools play a key role in establishing the adhesive that links the outdoor environment and while doing such important duty, conflict during implementation is not too far especially during conflict management. At the same time head of schools have different alternative in attacking the challenges. This study examines challenges which head of schools encounter during resolving conflict and techniques used to stand as way forward towards challenges. Primary data were collected using questionnaire and focus group discussion tools from 133 respondents who are teachers, 30 school board members, 6 head of schools and 1 district education officer. The sample was chosen from each selected secondary school within Chato district by simple random sampling technique. The data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS ver. 20, IBM, USA). The high spot that some challenges faced by heads of school in managing conflict are lack of conflict management skills, biasness, scarce financial resources, low awareness on responsibilities to some teachers, lack of evidence, and political interference. The study revealed that the possible solutions used by the head of school in arguing conflict included the use of school board members, avoidance of favoritism, availabilities and good distribution of resources, ignoring conflict and collaborating. In this matter conflict is inevitable in secondary schools; however, there are means of managing challenges that are encountered in the course of managing conflict in schools. Therefore, government through the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training should focus on great need for heads of secondary schools and teachers to be trained in conflict management
Analyzing different types of advertising and its influence on customer choice
Get PDFMarketers spend money on a variety of media platforms in order to influence consumer purchasing choice. Every advertisement on every media platform has a unique composition that engages the customers in a different way depending on the platform. The purpose of this research is to determine five types of advertisement and its influence on consumer purchasing choice at selected retailer stores in Erbil. It is a quantitative approach that is used to analyze data that has been obtained by the researcher. The Manager has circulated the survey to consumers of retailer stores and has gathered responses from those customers. When conducting the current study, the researcher employed a questionnaire in order to gather information. In the first segment, demographic questions were asked, beginning with the customer\u27s gender and marital status and progressing to other inquiries. The second section had questions about the company\u27s products and services. The second part of questionnaire was regarding five types of advertisement as independent factors and consumer purchasing choice at selected retailer stores in Erbil. When it comes to the sampling process, it will be a random sampling method, which means that almost all consumers at retailer stores in Erbil will have equal odds of being picked for the findings revealed that all five advertisements will have positive and significant influence on consumer purchasing choice at selected retailer stores, however, it was found that online advertising is the most effective and efficient among all five advertisements to bring consumer attentions while making decision in selecting certain brand or a product at their daily, weekly and monthly shopping at retailer stores in Erbil. The study recommended that management of firms in retail stores should consider it a requirement to adequately market their products, since doing so will provide them a competitive advantage over their competitor
The influence of Perceived Leadership Styles on Employee Commitment: The Mediating Role of Conflict Management
Get PDFThe aim of this study is to identify the relationship between leadership styles and employee commitment among employees working in the pharmaceutical industry, mediated by conflict management. The study adopted quantitative research method to examine the current study, a sample size of 110 employees was selected from the pharmaceutical companies in Kurdistan. Junior employees who had worked in the interested organizations for the past 10 years and deemed to have substantial dealing with supervisors and managers were purposively selected. Findings revealed that; the first research hypothesis is supported which stated that leadership styles will positively and significantly influence employee commitment at pharmaceutical companies in Kurdistan. Moreover, as for the conflict management as the mediation role between each leadership style (transactional, transformational, and charismatic) and employee commitment, the findings revealed that; conflict management has a positive and significant mediation role between all mentioned leadership styles and employee commitment, moreover the findings showed that the highest value was the mediation role of conflict management between transactional leadership and employee commitment, on the other hand the lowest value was the mediation role of conflict management between transformational leadership and employee commitment

Voices of Students who Quit Studies Amidst the Pandemic
Get PDFThe present study sought to describe and interpret the experiences that became the factor of the students at a selected state university in Cebu City of Bachelor of Special Needs Education to withdraw and quit studies amidst the pandemic. This research used phenomenology research design to achieve in-depth and rich first-person accounts utilizing interpretative phenomenological analysis with four stages in interpreting the data. Given the societal condition, the data gathering was held through personal conversation in Messenger with a sample size of 5. Findings revealed that the majority of the factors experienced by the respondents were about having problems with internet connection and environmental setbacks while being admitted to online learning. Financial difficulty and experiences with mental health issues were also specified from the results that influenced the decision of the respondents to discontinue their studying
A Correlational Study on Teachers’ Level of Competence on and Attitudes Towards ICT Integration: Basis for the Development of Extension Training Program

The purpose of this study was to determine if the adapted theory of Reasoned Actions as presented by Ajzen and Fishbein (1980) and Technological Acceptance Model developed by Davis (1989) relates to teachers’ competence on and attitudes in the implementation of ICT to justify the interim guidelines on the across implementation of BL-ODL and MDL modalities by BE-Learning Continuity Plan of Department of Education as per memorandum of LDM1 and LDM2 in the current school year. As part of a pilot-testing program of the LGU, the researcher sought to develop an instrument that would effectively measure the teachers’ level of competence on and attitudes with the utilization of ICT. Two schools JHS and SHS were studied since they belong to the same cluster. The study included 25 teacher-respondents from KERISHS-SHS and 25 teacher-respondents from GABHS-FBSHS. Each respondent completed the survey questionnaire, and gathered the necessary data for each level of competence on and attitudes that could benefit the entire educational community. The researcher applied Pearson’s r correlation in order to determine if a significant correlation existed. The results of the study revealed to have a significant or strongly positive relationship data to support the study. Managing COVID-19 Challenges: Strategies to Keep students Engaged in Online Learning - A Case study of Kepler
Get PDFThis article is about strategies devised by Kepler in reaction to challenges brought in by the covid-19 outbreak since its occurrence in 2019. Kepler instructors have devised a number of tools and strategies in order to cope up with the challenges and keep students engaged as the institution, like many others, had shifted from blended to online (or remote) learning. The study analyzed the effectiveness of the tools and strategies used to keep students engaged in remote learning. We collected data from 169 out of 174 students who were in the program, and 18 out of 25 instructors who were teaching during the pandemic time. Online surveys were sent to both students and teachers to collect quantitative data. The students and teachers involved in this study gave their views about the usefulness of the tools and strategies used, and the report shows that the tools contributed to students\u27 engagement and helped them to curb the challenges they had faced. The study recommends the use of recording online tools such as vocaroo.com, speakpipe.com; self-paced quizzes, videos, podcasts, discussion boards, shared google docs, and strategies like peer reviews, feedback, icebreakers, warm up prompts, higher order thinking questions, and class final reflections, as the respondents reported that they helped them stay engaged, which would not have been possible if the instructors used the traditional lecture method and online group assignments only during the virtual teaching and learning. The Effect of Blended Learning Instruction using Simplified Science Module on Students’ Academic Performance
Get PDFIn the new normal set-up, one of the ideal modes of teaching and learning used in the K-12 curriculum that is engaging and motivating is blended learning instruction. This study focused on the effect of blended learning instruction using simplified science module on the academic performance of Grade 11 students of Tawi-Tawi School of Arts and Trades (TTSAT) and Tawi-Tawi School of Fisheries (TTSF). This study made use of quasi-experimental design and had two sets of research instruments: the simplified science module used in blended learning instruction and the Pre-test and Post-test Questionnaire. The result revealed that there was an increase in the level of academic performance of students in both schools with blended learning instruction using simplified science module. It also revealed that blended learning instruction using simplified science module exhibits large effect in content standards such as Stellar Formation and Origin of Elements, Atomic Concept, and Chemical Reaction while medium effect on Properties of matter and Its Chemical Structure. There is a significant difference on the level of performance from pre-test to post-test of the said students in both schools. There is no significant difference on the extent of effect of blended learning instruction using simplified science module on the academic performance of the concerned students in both schools along the four content standards. Consequently, blended learning instruction using simplified science module is an effective way of engaging and motivating students to learn in both schools. Thus, schools should encourage teachers to engage students in blended learning instruction to achieve effective and meaningful learning
A situational Analysis of the faculties’ Industrial Attachment programme at public Technical Training Institutes (TTIs) in Bhutan
Get PDFThe study was conducted in three Technical Training Institutes (TTIs) in Bhutan. The objective of the study was to investigate the challenges facing industrial attachment as a learning experience for automobile faculties. The population of the study involved all the faculties of TTIs namely Ranjung, Thimphu and Samthang. However, the researcher used a sample size of 64 respondents (purposive sampling) for the study. The data was collected from the respondents through a research-designed survey questionnaire administered through the Online Google Form. Nonetheless, 58 questionnaires were received. The validity and reliability of the instruments were determined by pre-testing the instruments before taking into consideration for analysis. The data collected was analysed using SPSS software. Cronbach‐Alpha analysis was used to determine the reliability value of data. And the value of pre-test data was calculated at 0.788.
The findings of the study concluded that the faculties of the three automobile institutes expressed high satisfaction with the program objectives, the usefulness of the program, adequacy of knowledge and skills acquired through the program.
However, the study also concluded that the challenges they faced compromised the quality of engagement and meaningful learning experience. In this context, the researcher recommended that industrial attachment must be planned and implemented as a genuine learning experience right from the start. This could be done by allocating adequate funds to support the faculties\u27 interns and, enable the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution to maintain the relevancy of the attachment program and the industry. The immediate attachment supervisors of the industries should also be trained to deliver quality training and education to the faculties during the industrial attachment. This calls for a closer and synergized working relationship between the TVET institutions and the industries so that effective and uncompromised industrial attachment is ensured.
