Mobile applications are rapidly growing in importance and can be used for various purposes. They are now widely used in education. One of the educational purposes for which mobile applications can be used is to calculate the exact result of surface area. This research aims to study the relationships between behavioral factors and the perceived usefulness of using the Measure mobile application in calculating polygonal surfaces. Also, the purpose of the research is to investigate the performance, satisfaction, and perceived behavior of the students while using this application. The methodology of the study is the observation method. The sample of the study includes 50 students from the primary and lower secondary school "Heronjtë e Lumës" Vërmica /Prizren, and from the primary and lower secondary school "Zef Lush Marku" Velezha/Prizren from the Republic of Kosovo. For data collection, the observation list with three sections of 10 indicators is the main instrument. The results of this study show that the use of the Measure mobile application in learning mathematics for students using the application helped to increase student achievement and success. Also, the application was considered satisfactory and promoted a significant increase in students\u27 knowledge, being appropriate for its intended use

Identity Construction of Graduate Students— A Diary Study of Language Majors

    Get PDF
The concept of "identity" has been explored in higher education literature over the past two decades, and studies have found that identities are constantly changing and developing. When students enter a new environment, they are faced with new demands. They must adjust their identity to fit the new identity requirements and simultaneously begin a series of identity transitions. While some existing international studies have used different research methods to explore the identity transition of undergraduate and graduate students from different perspectives, few studies have been conducted in China on the identity transition of first-year graduate students. To explore the identity adjustment process of Chinese first-year graduate students majoring in English, as well as influencing factors in this process, this paper uses case study from a qualitative research approach to address the above research questions. The study found that through interaction with teachers, students, and family members, students were able to better understand the demands of graduate studies and get support when they encountered problems in studies and lives, and four students attributed “academic identity” to graduate identity. At the same time, the graduate courses and related assignments helped the students to adjust to their learning process and academic identity, allowing them to acquire the necessary professional academic knowledge and develop their research skills, which were essential for building their academic/researcher identities. The study proposed that the different factors mentioned above differed in their influence on students\u27 identity adjustment due to different individual backgrounds

Fluoride plays a very important role in preventing dental carries and is beneficial for dental enamel. But fluoride is valuable for health only when if it is used in a small amount within the allowable limit. Its excessiveness causes a number of side effects for human health such as fluorosis. According to WHO recommendation in 2011, fluoride level in drinking water is 1.5 mg/l. In everyday life, drinking water is considered as major source of fluoride. Most of the residents of Mahendergarh district of Haryana in India depend on ground water for their drinking purposes. This study has been conducted to examine the dental fluorosis among govt. school children in the villages of the study area. The fluorosis data were collected from different blocks of Mahendergarh district from school going children aged between 6 to 11 years old. A face-to-face interview of school children from class-3rd to class-5th has been carried out. A total of 43 villages were selected for dental fluorosis analysis. 25 villages were selected where the fluoride level is more than 1.5 mg/l and 18 villages were chosen where fluoride level was less than 1.5 mg/l. A survey was carried out among 1196 school going children for oral examination of dental fluorosis. School children were examined with the help of an expert of dental fluorosis. The study revealed that children of Sihma, Mahendergarh, Narnaul and Nangal Chaudhary blocks are the most affected with dental fluorosis. It was found that 33.3% children were affected with dental fluorosis in high fluoride zone, while only 7.36% children were suffering from dental fluorosis below permissible area (below 1.5mg/l). The study also reveals the positive correlation between water fluoride and fluorosis
