Study on Quantification of Hammering Test Method for Concrete Structures by Machine Learning
Concrete structures constructed during Japan\u27s high-growth period are now more than 50 years old, and the damages of aging deterioration are beginning to become apparent. The rationalization and automation of their maintenance are strongly needed, given the declining working population due to the falling birthrate and aging population, and the large socioeconomic burden that is expected to be placed on maintenance and management. On the other hand, recent years have seen the development of technologies related to machine learning and artificial intelligence, along with the improvement of computer capabilities and the rapid progress of information networks. Considering these circumstances, this study empirically examines the possibility of introducing machine learning technology into the quantification of hammering test method to rationalize and improve the accuracy of structural diagnosis technology.In this paper, I first conducted hammering tests on small models subjected to artificial defects and on a real-scale specimen subjected to internal cracks caused by electrical corrosion on the steel bars. It was confirmed that the classification accuracy by machine learning of CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) with the imaged hammering sound waveforms was equivalent to that of a skilled technician. Furthermore, we confirmed the applicability of this method to the field by appropriately classifying the deterioration state in an actual structure. I proposed a quantitative evaluation method of defects at an arbitrary site based on imaged sound waveform using a trained CNN as a feature extractor. The generalization performance of the proposed method was examined through cross-validation using hammering sound data from three different sites. As a result, it was shown that the proposed method has the potential to achieve generalization performance that can quantitatively evaluate the integrity and defects of concrete structures at arbitrary sites.博士(工学)法政大学 (Hosei University

Continuity in Japanese educational politics : MEXT and the Chongryon operated North Korean schools : Between exclusion and assimilation?
Since the end of the Second World War North Korean ethnic schools in Japan and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) have been in a strained relationship. Since 2010 the North Korean ethnic schools – unlike South Korean schools – have been excluded from the high school free tuition program called Koukoumushouka. This has left the schools with even less money to maintain the school building, equipment, and less money to pay their staff. However, the main victims of this tense relationship are the children attending those schools. This article based on primary and secondary literature ascertains how historical institutionalism explains the conflict between MEXT and the North Korean schools in Japan operated by the Chongryon. The results of this research show that post-war antipathy towards the Zainichi Korean community coupled to the Cold War resulted in trust issues from MEXT towards North Korean ethnic schools due to a fear of communism. The fact that North Korean ethnic schools refused to adapt to the Japanese curriculum, led to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology excluding the schools from various programs. These aspects have led to path dependency that still influence the North Korean school’s everyday life today. Understanding the dynamics between MEXT and the North Korean ethnic schools in Japan, may help provide a deeper understanding of how the relationship between both actors has evolved since 1945
Consideration on issues and future directions of multicultural coexistence policy in Osaka City
研究の概要(和文):本研究は、自治体の多文化共生の取り組みに関する実態について把握することを目的に大阪市24区を対象にしたもので、本報では大阪市が抱える課題について大阪市において多文化共生を担っている大阪市市民局ダイバーシティ推進室人権企画課に対しインタビュー調査を実施し分析したものである。その結果、大阪市における近年増加する外国人在住者に対する課題として次の3つのことが分かった。①大阪市多文化共生指針(2020.12)に基づく行動計画(2021.2)の評価と外国人住民のニーズに合った取り組みが求められること、②自治体からの外国人住民に対する情報発信策(情報環境整備)が求められること、③日本人と外国人住民の相互理解(コミュニティ形成)の場の必要性があること。日本においては、大阪市のように短期間に多国籍化が進んだ地域が多数存在するが、大阪市において持続可能な多文化共生が実現されることによって、今後の在住外国人が集住する地域にとっても、多文化共生のモデルとなることが考えられる。研究の概要(英文):This study was conducted in the 24 wards of Osaka City with the aim of grasping the actual situation regarding the efforts of local governments for multicultural coexistence, and this report conducted and analyzed the issues facing Osaka City by conducting an interview survey with the Human Rights Planning Division of the Diversity Promotion Office of the Osaka City Citizens’ Bureau, which is responsible for multicultural coexistence in Osaka City.As a result, the following three issues were identified as issues for the increasing number of foreign residents in Osaka City in recent years. (1) Evaluation of the action plan (February 2021) based on the Osaka City Multicultural Conviviality Guidelines (December 2020) and efforts to meet the needs of foreign residents are required (2) Measures to disseminate information to foreign residents (improvement of information environment) from local governments are required (3) There is a need for a place for mutual understanding (community formation) between Japan and foreign residents.In the Japan region, there are many regions such as Osaka City where multinationalization has progressed in a short period of time. If sustainable multicultural coexistence is realized in Osaka City, it will become a model for multicultural coexistence in areas where foreign residents will congregate in the future
<Review> What is multicultural education as a reexamination of “Japaneseness”?
As globalization leads to multiculturalism both within and outside of a country, one of the most important challenges is to live together with people who are different. In order to overcome these challenges and promote multicultural conviviality, a change in the consciousness of the majority will be required. The purpose of this paper is to discuss a framework for multicultural education that will interrogate Japaneseness and seek to change the consciousness of the Japanese as a majority.In the dominant discourse of Japan = Japanese = Japanese culture, Japaneseness (being Japanese) functions as an invisible cultural practice, a perspective from which to view oneself, others, and society, and a structural privilege. On the other hand, foreigners or non-standard Japanese living in Japanese society were treated as if they did not exist in the majority-centered Japanese narrative and did not have a voice as a minority.Therefore, it can be said that the challenge is to question the majority nature of Japanese people, to question the social meaning of being Japanese, and to open up a Japanese society consisting of ethnocentrism as a majority to multiculturalism. To this end, the framework of multicultural education will require (1) the cultivation of a critical eye to demythologize the Japanese narrative, (2) the excavation of multicultural narratives and an understanding of their diversity, and (3) the retelling of new multicultural Japanese narratives

Pedestrian trajectory prediction with Time-Space Transformer
Pedestrian on the street walk forward to their destinations, but their routes are often determined and affected by surrounding environments, such as oncoming people, walls and pillars. Such pedestrian route prediction is attractive to researchers, and then various researches have been conducted to model it, such as in social force model and social connections by neural network. Since temporal features of pedestrians can be expressed by time-series data, LSTM and transformer models in neural network are suitable to learn and predict their individual behaviors, but mutual influences among pedestrians are remaining issues to be solved. This paper proposes a combination of temporal and spatial transformers to predict the movement of the clouds of pedestrians more precisely. We analyzed actual pedestrian behaviors in shopping mall and found that their routes were affected by other pedestrians even if their locations are far from each other. Therefore, our spatial model is not limited to deal with the neighbors but also the people at distant locations within the field of view. The proposed system could learn the effects of the pedestrians who walk toward the same directions each other, but could not learn those of the pedestrians toward the opposite directions completely
STUDY ON DESIGN OPTIMIZATION METHOD OF IPMSM CONSIDERING MAGNETIC-MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS USING COUPLED STRATEGY OF DENSITY METHOD AND LEVEL-SET METHOD
Electric motors are applied to many industrial machines. Among them, the demand for interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs) is drastically increasing because IPMSMs are used in EVs, which are becoming popular as a means of mitigating global warming. Therefore, designing a high-power IPMSM is required. In the design of IPMSM, high-stiffness rotor core is also required because it must be protected from damage and deformation of rotor core due to centrifugal force when it rotates at a high speed. To realize a new rotor core design with high-power and -stiffness, topology optimization is effective from the viewpoint of its high degree of freedom regarding the structure of magnetic core. However, unmanufacturable structures tend to appear in a coupled optimization problem between the magnetic field and mechanical analysis. In this paper, the magnetic-mechanical coupled topology optimization of IPMSM for EVs using the coupled strategy of the density method (DM) and level-set method (LSM) is carried out. Furthermore, a sensitivity filter was implemented to enhance the manufacturability of the optimized structure. As a result, high torque, and low maximum von Mises stress structure of IPMSM was obtained
PRACTICAL STUDY BY INTRODUCTION OF IMPEDANCE CONVERSION CIRCUIT IN PHASED ARRAY WIRELESS POWER SUPPLY THAT ENABLES FOREIGN OBJECT AVOIDANCE
Wireless power transfer (WPT) systems used for electric vehicles (EV) in parking lots have a problem of abnormal heat generation of metal due to magnetic field absorption. Therefore, we created a system that maintains high transmission efficiency while suppressing the magnetic field around metallic foreign objects.However, there is a problem that the value obtained by the simulation is larger than the upper limit of the input voltage that can be reproduced on the actual device. Therefore, we introduced a CLC matching circuit to the actual device, which has the effect of lowering the input voltage while maintaining the input current value.In this paper, we conducted a demonstration experiment to confirm whether the CLC circuit works as theoretically in the 2:1 transmission circuit of the actual machine
Research on remote ultrasonography with tele-registration type work support system
Remote action guidance technology is a remote work support technology that realizes the skills of a remote expert with the cooperation of an ordinary person (worker) in the field by means of telegraphy and augmented reality technology. In this research, we aim to develop a technology that allows doctors in hospitals to assist paramedics in performing echo examinations at the scene with patients or in ambulances. However, it is still in an immature stage to start developing a new medical service, and this research study will investigate the technical possibilities of remote echo examination
