Authenticity and commercialisation: a dialogical, autoethnographic exploration of the tensions in gastrotourism
Gastrotourism is a significant revenue-generator worldwide and relates to the deliberate seeking-out of experiences related to eating and drinking during travel by tourists. Taking in the cultural, social and personal dimensions related to gastrotourism, this di-alogical, conversational autoethnography allows the personal stories of the two authors to emerge, contextualised in the body of theory surrounding this particular topic. Methodologically, the autoethnographic lens allows for the exploration of personal in-sights that would not necessarily be brought to the fore through more traditional re-search methods and follows the food-consumption experiences of two individual trav-ellers seeking authenticity in their personal journeys. The lived encounters of the two researchers during trips across the European continent and beyond are detailed, and reveal such findings as the importance of authenticity, national identity and culinary heritage in gastrotourism. Thus, in connecting with this study, the reader can engage with a multi-faceted, polysemous and emotionally stimulating, autoethnographic ex-planation at the interface between consumer behaviour and gastrotourism

While military action against Iran’s nuclear facilities remains a possibility, such an attack could accelerate rather than curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Instead, a balanced diplomatic approach—one that addresses Iran’s security concerns—may be more effective than coercion alone in preventing nuclear proliferation and maintaining regional stability. Low SAR-UWB Rectangular Microstrip Magnetic Monopole Antenna for S-Band and Biomedical Applications
The development of low specific absorption rate (SAR) antennas is crucial for safety and efficiency in wireless communication and biomedical applications. This study introduces a low SAR ultra-wideband (UWB) rectangular microstrip monopole antenna with an extended ground plane. The design operates effectively in free space and on a human body phantom. It achieves a reflection coefficient of -42.59 dB at 2.48 GHz and covers the S-band from 2.31 GHz to 4.12 GHz with a peak gain of 5.09 dBi in free space. The antenna maintains consistent performances when placed on a human phantom. With reverse and front patch faces, its gain improves to 5.53 dBi and 5.80 dBi, respectively. Experimental validation of the fabricated prototype shows excellent agreement with simulations conducted using high-frequency structure simulators (HFSS) and advanced design systems (ADS). Additionally, lumped-element equivalent circuits are used to analyze impedance behavior in both environments, confirming the antenna’s robust design.</p
The design of a dynamic web-based solution to measure accessibility via public transport under different travel scenarios
An intuitive and interactive opensource web tool for measuring access to services via public transport is described. The application allows policymakers to analyse and compare the impacts that alternative network configurations may have upon access to services. The application facilitates interactive analyses to support decision-makers in making better informed choices. The study addresses key technical challenges to integrating opensource technologies with bus timetable information. A cumulative opportunity measure of access to essential services is computed under alternative real-world scenarios. These consider the complete withdrawal of an agency, the removal of a route, and addition of a new route. We highlight the need to promote the wider use of such interactive tools amongst planners and transport professionals when examining access to services via public transport
An unusual miniature font at Penrhys
The shrine of the Virgin Mary at Penrhys originated in a grange of Llantarnam Abbey. The statue of the Virgin and Child attracted pilgrims from all over south Wales and even further afield. The shrine was dismantled at the Reformation and little remains of its archaeology. During building work in the 1960s, a miniature font was found on the site. It may date from the nineteenth century, when miniature fonts were popular; it could be late medieval; it could even reflect recusant activity at the shrine in the late sixteenth or early seventeenth centuries
Punjab Police Cold Case Homicide Investigation: A Quantitative Analysis of Cold Case Homicides in Punjab, Pakistan, 2014-2021
This study investigates cold case homicides in Punjab, Pakistan, focusing on cold homicides reported between 2014 and 2021, analysing their spatial and temporal patterns, correlating factors, and investigative practices. Using quantitative data obtained directly from Punjab Police records, 3,387 homicide cases were registered, including 599 absolute cold case homicides and 1,122 under investigation. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping revealed significant spatial disparities: urban centres such as Lahore, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala showed high concentrations, while rural areas had scattered but impactful cases. Population density strongly correlated with case distribution, though other socio-structural factors also influenced trends. The Punjab Police’s clearance rate was 44%, with limited use of forensic science and reliance on traditional investigative methods. The study also examines cancelled homicides and the theoretical frameworks underpinning investigative strategies. Findings highlight the need for targeted, data-driven interventions, greater forensic capacity, and policy reforms to improve the homicide detection rate and deliver justice
