Technical debt (TD) refers to implementation and/or design that provides short-term benefit to a software project while it causes problems in the long run. Self-admitted technical debt (SATD) is a special case in which developers explicitly manages TD by themselves. SATD is classified into two types: SATD-comment and SATD-Issue. SATD-Comment is a clue of the existence of SATD that is expressed as a source code comment by individual developers. SATD-Issue is a SATD-related issue that is managed by a project using an issue tracking system. So far, SATD-Comment has been widely studied, but SATD-Issue has not been studied so much because few projects manage SATD at the project level. In this paper, we build a classification model of SATD-Issue as a first step to resolve the problem of the data shortage to be studied. First, we characterize SATD-Issue using a quantitative analysis to identify available features for building the classification model. Then, we evaluate the performance of the classification model built using the features identified by the analysis. As a result of our case study, our classification model shows 0.995 of Precision and 0.903 of Recall in the best case. From the result, we believe that our model would be useful to collect SATD-Issues from projects which do not explicitly manage technical debt
A Review of the Literature on Smart Tourism : A Locational Research Perspective
As a new concept, smart tourism has received significant attention in the past decade. By reviewing 136 articles published in mainstream journals in the field of tourism from 2013 to 2022, this study discusses the major themes of smart tourism research of interest to researchers in their regions from the perspectives of Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America. The results show that researchers in the Asia-Pacific region place smart technology-driven as the center of smart tourism research. In contrast, researchers in the European region discuss smart tourism through a destination research lens. The North American region, where smart tourism originated, researchers have studied the topic particularly from a tourist experience perspective. The article concludes with a discussion of the gaps in existing research in these regions, directions for future research, and contributions to regions in which smart tourism development is just beginning (e.g., Japan). This study is one of the few reviews of research related to smart tourism from a regional researcher’s perspective, which fills a gap in past literature reviews of smart tourism, helps researchers better understand the whole picture of smart tourism, establishes a theoretical contact of smart tourism research, and contributes to academia and the industry
Major elements that Michi-no-Eki should have as a driving tourism hub
We will discuss the major functional elements of the Michi-no-Eki [roadside stations] as a driving tourism hub. Referring to research on the major elements of driving tourism, we have defined six concrete elements of a driving tourism hub. Next, we visited all Michi-no-Eki in Wakayama Prefecture [35 roadside stations] and confirmed their current state. We found that five elements, excluding the accommodation element, are the elements expected from the Michi-no-Eki as a drive tourism hub. Additionally, from the relationship between their maintenance rate and previous research, we were able to extract research subjects such as accommodation facilities attached to the Michi-no-Eki and elicit behavioral changes among driving tourists by providing information on attractions. Future research will discuss Japan’s driving tourism with perspectives on a drive tourism hub from overseas research
The Russia-Ukraine War and Great Power Competition between the U.S. and China : Two-World Views Confronting Three Worlds
One important aspect of the great power competition between the U.S. and China is organizing principles of the international order. While the U.S. argues that the struggle between democracies and autocracies is a vital factor affecting the future of the world, China asserts that many developing countries will prevail in a small circle of developed countries. How does the Russia-Ukraine war impact the turf war between the U.S. and China? The Russian aggression reveals that countries all over the world are divided into three worlds: 1) G7 Plus: countries that have imposed sanctions on Russia and defend the rule-based international order ; 2) The China-Russia axis: countries opposing the rule-based order ; and 3) The Global South : countries that criticize both the Russian aggression and the hypocrisy of the Western values. Both the U.S. and China are intensively engaging with Global South countries and proposing their own perspective on the international order. This paper overviews the struggle for influence between the two great powers and compares their vision of the international order under the Russia-Ukraine War
