Psikiyatri Kliniklerinde Deneyimsel Tasarımın Hastalar Üzerine Etkileri: Özel Boylam Hastanesi Örneği
The importance of supportive design approaches is becoming more and more widespread with the increasing awareness of the design concept that can meet the social and psychological needs of the users in healthcare spaces. Especially in psychiatry clinics, physical-environmental factors and design approaches that meet the psychological needs of patients based on spatial experience play an important role in the recovery process of patients. Experiential design is an element that can provide confidence and satisfaction to patients, support treatment and have positive psychological effects when applied correctly in healthcare settings. In this thesis; (1) the definition and classification of the concept of experiential design, (2) the function of experiential design in healthcare settings, (3) the experiential design approaches of psychiatry clinics, and (4) a survey study investigating the effects of experimental design in the healing process. In the light of the findings obtained as a result of the study, the aspects of experiential design in the interior design of psychiatry clinics that support the patients' perception of space in the health space experience and accordingly the healing process are discussed. In this context, it is aimed that the thesis will shed light on and contribute to the spatial design of psychiatry clinics in the context of experiential design criteria.Sağlık mekânlarında kullanıcıların sosyal ve psikolojik gereksinimlerini karşılayabilecek tasarım anlayışına yönelik farkındalığın artması ile destekleyici tasarım yaklaşımlarının önemi giderek yaygınlaşmaktadır. Özellikle psikiyatri kliniklerinde hastaların mekânsal deneyime dayalı psikolojik gereksinimlerini karşılayan fiziksel-çevresel faktörler ve tasarım yaklaşımları hastaların iyileşme sürecinde önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Deneyimsel tasarım, sağlık mekânlarında doğru uygulandığında hastalara güven ve memnuniyet sağlayabilen, tedaviyi destekleyici ve psikolojik olumlu etkileri barındıran bir unsurdur. Bu tezde; (1) deneyimsel tasarım kavramının tanımına ve sınıflandırılmasına, (2) sağlık mekânlarında deneyimsel tasarımın işlevine, (3) psikiyatri kliniklerinin deneyimsel tasarım yaklaşımlarına yer verilmiş ve (4) iyileşme sürecinde deneysel tasarımın etkilerini araştıran bir anket çalışması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda ortaya çıkan bulgular ışığında, psikiyatri kliniklerinin iç mekân tasarımında deneyimsel tasarımın sağlık mekânı deneyiminde hastaların mekân algısı ve buna bağlı olarak iyileşme sürecini destekleyen yönleri ele alınmıştır. Bu bağlamda tezin, deneyimsel tasarım kriterleri bağlamında psikiyatri kliniklerinin mekân tasarımına ışık tutması ve katkı sağlaması hedeflenmiştir
Covid-19 Dispersion in Naturally-Ventilated Classrooms: a Study on Inlet-Outlet Characteristics
Infectious aerosol dispersion poses significant infection risks (i.e., COVID-19) in classrooms due to dense and long occupancy. Natural ventilation is an effective strategy to reduce airborne infection transmission. The building-related parameters, particularly openings, determine the natural ventilation effectiveness in reducing contaminant dispersion, necessitating an inquiry due to complex dispersion and airflow patterns. This paper investigates the correlation between window height, natural ventilation, and COVID-19 dispersion. A simulation pipeline involving a parametric 3D design environment, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and energy simulations is developed and implemented on nine design scenarios representing different inlet-outlet heights of a free-running (no heating, cooling or mechanical ventilation) classroom. The inlet height and the inlet-outlet height difference have a considerable impact on indoor infection risk confirming that stack ventilation and the Bernoulli effect decrease indoor contaminant concentration. Proximity to openings does not ensure lower contamination levels. Proximity to the contaminant does not result in higher contamination levels
Hemodynamic and Structural Comparison of Human Fetal Heart Development Between Normally Growing and Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome-Diagnosed Hearts
Congenital heart defects (CHDs) affect a wide range of societies with an incidence rate of 1.0-1.2%. These defects initiate at the early developmental stage and result in critical health disorders. Although genetic factors play a role in the formation of CHDs, the occurrence of cases in families with no history of CHDs suggests that mechanobiological forces may also play a role in the initiation and progression of CHDs. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is a critical CHD, which is responsible for 25-40% of all prenatal cardiac deaths. The comparison of healthy and HLHS hearts helps in understanding the main hemodynamic differences related to HLHS. Echocardiography is the most common imaging modality utilized for fetal cardiac assessment. In this study, we utilized echocardiographic images to compare healthy and HLHS human fetal hearts for determining the differences in terms of heart chamber dimensions, valvular flow rates, and hemodynamics. The cross-sectional areas of chamber dimensions are determined from 2D b-mode ultrasound images. Valvular flow rates are measured via Doppler echocardiography, and hemodynamic quantifications are performed with the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. The obtained results indicate that cross-sectional areas of the left and right sides of the heart are similar for healthy fetuses during gestational development. Family Still Matters: Human Social Motivation Across 42 Countries During a Global Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic caused drastic social changes for many people, including separation from friends and coworkers, enforced close contact with family, and reductions in mobility. Here we assess the extent to which people's evolutionarily-relevant basic motivations and goals—fundamental social motives such as Affiliation and Kin Care—might have been affected. To address this question, we gathered data on fundamental social motives in 42 countries (N = 15,915) across two waves, including 19 countries (N = 10,907) for which data were gathered both before and during the pandemic (pre-pandemic wave: 32 countries, N = 8998; 3302 male, 5585 female; Mage = 24.43, SD = 7.91; mid-pandemic wave: 29 countries, N = 6917; 2249 male, 4218 female; Mage = 28.59, SD = 11.31). Samples include data collected online (e.g., Prolific, MTurk), at universities, and via community sampling. We found that Disease Avoidance motivation was substantially higher during the pandemic, and that most of the other fundamental social motives showed small, yet significant, differences across waves. Most sensibly, concern with caring for one's children was higher during the pandemic, and concerns with Mate Seeking and Status were lower. Earlier findings showing the prioritization of family motives over mating motives (and even over Disease Avoidance motives) were replicated during the pandemic. Finally, well-being remained positively associated with family-related motives and negatively associated with mating motives during the pandemic, as in the pre-pandemic samples. Morphological and Immunohistochemical Evaluation of Interface Lesions Between Chronic Lymphocytic Thyroiditis and Papillary Thyroid Cancers
Objective: To evaluate the expression of papillary thyroid carcinoma-associated tumor markers in reactive and dysplastic changes showing papillary thyroid carcinoma-like nuclear features in chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis cases. Material and Method: In this study, we retrospectively analyzed 84 cases diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis based on the analysis of thyroidectomy specimens in our center over the last five years. We classified them as normal, reactive and dysplastic changes and performed an immunohistochemical analysis using HBME-1, Galectin-3, Cytokeratin 19, and Cyclin D1. Results: The mean age of the patients was 45.5 years, and 68 were female and 16 were male. According to the morphological features, 42.9% of the were classified to have normal morphology, 44.0% reactive atypia, and 13.1% follicular epithelial dysplasia (FED). Of the chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis cases, 42.9% were associated with malignancy, with the most common accompanying malignancy being papillary thyroid cancer (36.9%). Immunohistochemically: for HBME-1, FED (72.7%) was higher (p0.05) than normal and reactive atypia (0.0%); for Galectin-3, FED (63.6%) was higher (p0.05) than normal and reactive atypia (0.0%); for Cytokeratin 19, Reactive atypia (75.7%) and FED (90.9%) were higher than normal (44.4%); and for Cyclin-D1, Reactive atypia (62.2%) and FED (81.8%) were higher than normal (33.3%). Conclusions: We consider that reactive and dysplastic changes including papillary thyroid carcinoma-like nuclear changes may support preneoplastic changes in terms of morphology and immunoprofile in chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis cases
Evaluation of Manubriosternal Joint Fusion and Second Costal Cartilage Calcification: Are They Useful for Estimating Advanced Age Groups?
The objectives of this study were to evaluate the manubriosternal joint (MSJ) to estimate the minimum chronological age of complete fusion, and how changes in this joint influence age estimation. The study also focused on investigating the calcification patterns of the second costal cartilage (SCC), as they may be related to age. Between January and September 2020, individuals between 30 and 80 years of age, who underwent chest tomography at our institution, were listed by sex and divided into five groups according to age with intervals of 10 years. Twenty patients from each age group and sex were randomly selected, and 200 patients were evaluated. The relationship between age and changes in MSJ and SCC was evaluated. The incidence of complete fusion did not differ significantly between the 30 and 80 age groups. A significant difference was found between the age groups and MSJ degeneration (p 0.001). The degree of MSJ degeneration and calcification in SCC significantly increased with age, but the range was wide. These values might be used to support traditionally accepted age-estimation methods but not as independent indicators of specific age ranges
Search for Invisible Higgs-Boson Decays in Events With Vector-Boson Fusion Signatures Using 139 Fb(-1) of Proton-Proton Data Recorded by the Atlas Experiment
A direct search for Higgs bosons produced via vector-boson fusion and subsequently decaying into invisible particles is reported. The analysis uses 139 fb(-1) of pp collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of root s =13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The observed numbers of events are found to be in agreement with the background expectation from Standard Model processes. For a scalar Higgs boson with a mass of 125 GeV and a Standard Model production cross section, an observed upper limit of 0.145 is placed on the branching fraction of its decay into invisible particles at 95% confidence level, with an expected limit of 0.103. These results are interpreted in the context of models where the Higgs boson acts as a portal to dark matter, and limits are set on the scattering cross section of weakly interacting massive particles and nucleons. Türkiye Türkçesinde Ad Temelli Öbeklerin Tipolojik Özellikleri
Bu makalede Türkiye Türkçesinde ad temelli öbeklerin tipolojik özelliklerine odaklanılmakta ve bu özelliklerin dilbilimsel bir analizi önerilmektedir. Makalenin ilk bölümünde tipolojik çalışmalar ile dilbilgisel analizler arasındaki etkileşim, adı niteleyen ögelerin sıralanmasını ilgilendiren bir örnek ile açıklanmaktadır. Makalenin ikinci bölümünde Türkiye Türkçesinin ad öbeği içi uyum ve ertelenmiş ekleme yapıları açısından tipolojik özellikleri ortaya konmaktadır. Ad öbeği içi uyum yapıları incelenirken hem sıfatlar ve adlar arasındaki cins, sayı ve durum yönünden uyumun yokluğu hem de sayı sözcükleriyle kullanılan adların çoğul eki almamaları ele alınmaktadır. Ayrıca ertelenmiş yapılar ile ilgili olarak geliştirilen önceki analizlerin eksiklikleri ortaya konmakta ve yeni bir analiz varsayılmaktadır. Yazının üçüncü ve son bölümünde Türkiye Türkçesinin tipolojik özelliklerinin dağılımının gelişigüzel olmadığı ileri sürülmekte ve bu özelliklerin tek bir dilbilgisel analiz altında toplanabileceği savunulmaktadır. Başka pek çok dil geçerli olan Ad Öbeği Uyum Kuralının Türkiye Türkçesi için tanımsız olduğu varsayıldığında hem sıfatlar ile adlar arasında herhangi bir özellik açısından uyumun bulunmaması hem de sayı sözcüğü ile kullanılan adların çoğul eki alamaması açıklanabilmektedir. Türkiye Türkçesinde ertelenmiş ekleme yapılarının mümkün oluşu da, bu kuralın Türkiye Türkçesindeki geçersizliğinin bir sonucudur. Bu makalede Türkiye Türkçesinin ad temelli öbeklerinin tipolojik özelliklerinin anlaşılmasında dilbiliminin analiz araçlarının gerçek bir kavrayış sağladığı vurgulanmaktadır
Investigation of Vacancy Defects and Substitutional Doping in Alsb Monolayer With Double Layer Honeycomb Structure: a First-Principles Calculation
The experimental knowledge of the AlSb monolayer with double layer honeycomb structure is largely based on the recent publication (Le Qin et al 2021 ACS Nano 15 8184), where this monolayer was recently synthesized. Therefore, the aim of our research is to consequently explore the effects of substitutional doping and vacancy point defects on the electronic and magnetic properties of the novel hexagonal AlSb monolayer. Besides experimental reports, the phonon band structure and cohesive energy calculations confirm the stability of the AlSb monolayer. Its direct bandgap has been estimated to be 0.9 eV via the hybrid functional method, which is smaller than the value of 1.6 eV of bulk material. The majority of vacancy defects and substitutional dopants change the electronic properties of the AlSb monolayer from semiconducting to metallic. Moreover, the MgSb impurity has demonstrated the addition of ferromagnetic behavior to the material. It is revealed through the calculation of formation energy that in Al-rich conditions, the vacant site of VSb is the most stable, while in Sb-rich circumstances the point defect of VAl gets the title. The formation energy has also been calculated for the substitutional dopants, showing relative stability of the defected structures. We undertook this theoretical study to inspire many experimentalists to focus their efforts on AlSb monolayer growth incorporating different impurities. It has been shown here that defect engineering is a powerful tool to tune the properties of novel AlSb two-dimensional monolayer for advanced nanoelectronic applications. © 2021 IOP Publishing Ltd
