Raising Awareness of Primary School Students on Cultural Heritage through Interface Design
InSEA World Congress 2023Cultural heritage is the cornerstone of a society, a set of tangible or intangible values that have come from the past to the present and should be passed on to future generations. Today, however, it has become important that these values, which face some negative impacts, are protected and sustained. In this study, the objectives of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades that may be related to cultural heritage in the Primary School, Life Science and Visual Arts Lessons curricula were examined. A visual interface was designed with the idea that realizing these acquisitions, which have content related to cultural heritage, supported by visuals in a digital learning environment will contribute to the retention of information. In this interface design, there are games such as puzzles, artifact stories, reading aloud, finding a similar artifact, completing the image to teach historical ruins and artifacts. With this design proposal prepared for the outcomes of the lesson, it is aimed to increase the interest of the 7-10 age group primary school students to the cultural heritage of Turkey and to raise their awareness. In addition, it is aimed to train them through gamification and to contribute to their mental development in this way. A case study was used in this study. The study group consisted of classroom and visual arts teachers and visual communication designers. The opinions of the teachers and design experts were consulted about the contributions that the interface design prepared by the researchers could make to the realization of the relevant outcomes and its functionality and aesthetic aspects. The qualitative findings from the document reviews and interviews were evaluated to determine the contribution of the interface design and to improve it in line with the criticisms made
Search for Direct Production of Winos and Higgsinos in Events With Two Same-Charge Leptons or Three Leptons in Pp Collision Data at √s=13 Tev With the Atlas Detector
A search for supersymmetry targeting the direct production of winos and higgsinos is conducted in final states with either two leptons (e or mu) with the same electric charge, or three leptons. The analysis uses 139 fb(-1) of pp collision data at root s = 13TeV collected with the ATLAS detector during Run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess over the Standard Model expectation is observed. Simplified and complete models with and without R-parity conservation are considered. In topologies with intermediate states including either Wh or WZ pairs, wino masses up to 525 GeV and 250 GeV are excluded, respectively, for a bino of vanishing mass. Higgsino masses smaller than 440 GeV are excluded in a natural R-parity-violating model with bilinear terms. Upper limits on the production cross section of generic events beyond the Standard Model as low as 40 ab are obtained in signal regions optimised for these models and also for an R-parity-violating scenario with baryon-number-violating higgsino decays into top quarks and jets. The analysis significantly improves sensitivity to supersymmetric models and other processes beyond the Standard Model that may contribute to the considered final states.ANPCyT, Argentina; YerPhI, Armenia; ARC, Australia; BMWFW; FWF, Austria; ANAS; CNPq; FAPESP, Brazil; NSERC; CFI, Canada; NSFC, China; MEYS CR, Czech Republic; DNRF; DNSRC, Denmark; IN2P3-CNRS; CEA-DRF/IRFU, France; BMBF; MPG, Germany; RGC and Hong Kong SAR, China; ISF and Benoziyo Center, Israel; INFN, Italy; MEXT; JSPS, Japan; CNRST, Morocco; NWO, Netherlands; RCN, Norway; MEiN, Poland; FCT, Portugal; MNE/IFA, Romania; MESTD, Serbia; MSSR, Slovakia; ARRS; MIZS, Slovenia; MICINN, Spain; Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden; SNSF and Cantons of Bern and Geneva, Switzerland; MOST, Taiwan; DOE; NSF, United States of America; BCKDF; CANARIE; CRC, Canada [PRIMUS 21/SCI/017, UNCE SCI/013]; Czech Republic; ERC; ERDF; Marie Skodowska-Curie Actions, European Union; Investissements d'Avenir Labex, Investissements d'Avenir Idex; ANR, France; DFG; AvH Foundation, Germany - EU-ESF; Greek NSRF, Greece; BSF-NSF; NCN; La Caixa Banking Foundation; CERCA Programme Generalitat de Catalunya; PROMETEO; Generalitat Valenciana, Spain; Goran Gustafssons Stiftelse, Sweden; Royal Society; Leverhulme Trust, United KingdomWe acknowledge the support of ANPCyT, Argentina; YerPhI, Armenia; ARC, Australia; BMWFW and FWF, Austria; ANAS, Azerbaijan; CNPq and FAPESP, Brazil; NSERC, NRC and CFI, Canada; CERN; ANID, Chile; CAS, MOST and NSFC, China; Minciencias, Colombia; MEYS CR, Czech Republic; DNRF and DNSRC, Denmark; IN2P3-CNRS and CEA-DRF/IRFU, France; SRNSFG, Georgia; BMBF, HGF and MPG, Germany; GSRI, Greece; RGC and Hong Kong SAR, China; ISF and Benoziyo Center, Israel; INFN, Italy; MEXT and JSPS, Japan; CNRST, Morocco; NWO, Netherlands; RCN, Norway; MEiN, Poland; FCT, Portugal; MNE/IFA, Romania; MESTD, Serbia; MSSR, Slovakia; ARRS and MIZS, Slovenia; DSI/NRF, South Africa; MICINN, Spain; SRC and Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden; SERI, SNSF and Cantons of Bern and Geneva, Switzerland; MOST, Taiwan; TENMAK, Turkiye; STFC, United Kingdom; DOE and NSF, United States of America. A Machine Learning Approach for Dyslexia Detection Using Turkish Audio Records
Dyslexia is a learning disorder, characterized by impairment in the ability to read, spell, and decode letters. It is vital to detect dyslexia in earlier stages to reduce its effects. However, diagnosing dyslexia is a time-consuming and costly process. In this paper, we propose a machine-learning model that predicts whether a Turkish-speaking child has dyslexia using his/her audio records. Therefore, our model can be easily used by smart phones and work as a warning system such that children who are likely to be dyslexic according to our model can seek an examination by experts. In order to train and evaluate, we first create a unique dataset that includes audio recordings of 12 dyslexic children and 13 nondyslexic children in an 8-month period. We explore various machine learning algorithms such as KNN and SVM and use the following features: Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients, reading rate, reading accuracy, the ratio of missing words, and confidence scores of the speech-to-text process. In our experiments, we show that children with dyslexia can be detected with 95.63% accuracy even though we use single-sentence long audio records. In addition, we show that the prediction performance of our model is similar to that of the humans'. In this paper, we provide a preliminary study showing that detecting children with dyslexia based on their audio records is possible. Once the mobile application version of our model is developed, parents can easily check whether their children are likely to be dyslexic or not, and seek professional help accordingly
Growth Mechanism of 2d Mo2c on Cu Via Cvd
This study investigatesthe growth of Mo2C crystalsvia chemical vapor deposition (CVD) in the presence of a carbon (H-2/CH4 gas)-containing environment. The study employsboth theoretical and experimental approaches to investigate the verticaland lateral (in-plane) growth of Mo2C crystals. A physico-mathematicalconsideration is applied to develop an analytical forward model, whichincorporates bulk diffusivities, surface diffusivities, and solubilitygradients for Mo2C crystal growth. Coupled nonlinear flowequations have been advanced for the Mo-, Cu-, Mo2C layerframework and effectively predicted the Mo2C crystal growthrate for both vertical and lateral directions. Forming the Mo2C crystal height and diameter was directly correlated withcopper layer thickness and time using the forward model and then validatedby the experiments together with SEM and AFM studies. Studies showedthat the Cu layer thickness plays a crucial role in controlling theheight of the Mo2C crystal while it is not that criticalin changing the lateral dimension of the crystal. Beyond simply enhancingMo(2)C crystal growth and property-processing relationship, this study demonstrated the synthesis of designer Mo2C,which can be tailored to the needs of specific applications. Thisforward model will enable us to further enhance and exploit the familyof analogs of materials previously demonstrated by other methods. This study explores 2D Mo2C crystal growth usingCVD. The research combines theoretical and experimental methods toinvestigate both vertical and lateral growth. A physico-mathematicalmodel is developed, incorporating diffusivities and solubility gradients.Nonlinear flow equations predict Mo2C growth rates in differentdirections, validated through experiments and microscopy studies. The study highlights the influence of copper layer thickness on thecrystal height and demonstrates the synthesis of customizable Mo2C materials for specific applications.Air Force Office of Scientific Research [FA9550-19-1-7048, FA9550-22-1-0358]The authors thank Dr. Ali Sayir from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research for his valuable comments. Dört Rotorlu Bir İnsansız Hava Aracının Modellenmesi, Gauss Gürültüsü ve Parametre Belirsizliği Altında Lyapunov Tabanlı ve Geri Adımlamalı Kontrolcü Tasarımı
Nowadays, unmanned aerial vehicles are used in a very wide area. Combating terrorism, reconnaissance and surveillance, fighting fire and natural disasters, search and rescue, mapping, mineral exploration, scientific research, cargo transport, organ transport, agricultural spraying, photography, hobby and sportive flights are among the areas of use of unmanned aerial vehicles. Unmanned aerial vehicles are more advantageous compared to manned aircraft due to their lower production cost, not carrying pilots, and being able to perform harder maneuvers thanks to their small size. Unmanned aerial vehicles can be considered in two categories: winged unmanned aerial vehicles and vertical take-off and landing unmanned aerial vehicles. Unmanned aerial vehicles that can take-off and land vertically do not need a runway during take-off and landing, they have the ability to hang in the air, rotate around their own axis, flip in the air and perform harsh maneuvers. These features make unmanned aerial vehicles capable of vertical take-off and landing more advantageous compared to fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles. Quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles are four propeller vehicles that can take off and land vertically. The system dynamics of the quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle are similar to the motion of a rigid body in space with 6 degrees of freedom. These 6 degrees of freedom consist of roll, pitch and yaw angles, known as Euler angles, which enable the formation of angular velocities, and x, y, z axes, which define linear movements in three-dimensional space. Within the scope of this thesis work, first of all, a nonlinear model of the quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle was created. This created model was implemented in computer environment using MATLAB/Simulink software. Then, different controller designs were developed to control the altitude, roll, pitch and yaw angles of the quadrotor. Within the scope of the thesis work, an attempt was made to obtain a robust controller design that would work in the most durable way against all these difficult conditions. First of all, PID controller design was carried out due to its widespread use in the industry. For this controller, optimum controller coefficients were obtained by using the PID Tuning method. Then, an attempt was made to obtain a more robust controller approach than the PID controller commonly used in the industry. For this purpose, firstly, a Lyapunov based controller design based on the Lyapunov stability theorem was carried out. Then, a backstepping controller design, which is a recursive adaptation of the Lyapunov stability theorem, was carried out. The designed controllers were tested under normal conditions, white Gaussian noise, parameter uncertainty, simultaneous parameter uncertainty and white Gaussian noise, pink noise, brown noise, blue noise, purple noise and sinusoidal disturbance. In addition, triangle reference and sinusoidal reference tracking simulations were made to test the hard maneuvering capabilities of the controllers. The rise time, overshoot and settling time data of the designed controllers were compared. The data obtained showed that the backstepping controller had the least overshoot and the shortest settling time under all conditions. Thus, as a result of the simulations and the data obtained, it has been proven that the backstepping controller design is more robust than the classical PID controller and the Lyapunov based controller.Günümüzde insansız hava araçları oldukça geniş bir alanda kullanılmaktadır.
Blockchain-Based Privacy Preserving Linear Regression
In this study we propose a blockchain-based architecture that uses smart contracts and homomorphic encryption to allow statistical computations on confidential data by third parties. The use of blockchain provides the much-desiredsecurity properties of integrity and fault tolerance and homomorphic encryption preserves the privacy of the data. We present the design, implementation, and testing of our system. Our results show that a blockchain-based data sharing mechanism with homomorphic calculations via a smart contract is feasible and provides improvements in protecting the data from unauthorized users. Even though our work focused on linear regression, the architecture can be used for other statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms
Impact on the Photocatalytic Dye Degradation of Morphology and Annealing-Induced Defects in Zinc Oxide Nanostructures
In this study, three different morphologies, nanoflower (NF), nano sponge (NS), and nano urchin (NU), of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures were synthesized successfully via a mild hydrothermal method. After synthesis, the samples were annealed in the atmosphere at 300, 600, and 800 ?. Although annealing provides different degradation kinetics for different morphologies, ZnO NS performed significantly better than other morphologies for all annealing temperatures we used in the study. When the photoluminescence, electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, BET surface, and X-ray diffraction analysis results are examined, it is revealed that the defect structure, pore diameter, and crystallinity cumulatively affect the photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanocatalysts. As a result, to obtain high photocatalytic activity in rhodamine B (RhB) degradation, it is necessary to develop a ZnO catalyst with fewer core defects, more oxygen vacancies, near band emission, large crystallite size, and large pore diameter. The ZnO NS-800 ? nanocatalyst studied here had a 35.6 x 10(-3) min(-1) rate constant and excellent stability after a 5-cycle photocatalytic degradation of RhB.Romanian Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization, Core Programme [PN19 35 02 03]; TUBITAK-BIDEB-2218 Program [118C551]This work was supported by the Romanian Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization, Core Programme, Project PN19 35 02 03, and TUBITAK-BIDEB-2218 Program No.118C551
Search for Heavy Neutral Leptons in Decays of W Bosons Using a Dilepton Displaced Vertex in Sqrt[s]=13 Tev Pp Collisions With the Atlas Detector
A search for a long-lived, heavy neutral lepton (N) in 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV pp collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider is reported. The N is produced via W→Nμ or W→Ne and decays into two charged leptons and a neutrino, forming a displaced vertex. The N mass is used to discriminate between signal and background. No signal is observed, and limits are set on the squared mixing parameters of the N with the left-handed neutrino states for the N mass range 3 GeVm_{N}15 GeV. For the first time, limits are given for both single-flavor and multiflavor mixing scenarios motivated by neutrino flavor oscillation results for both the normal and inverted neutrino-mass hierarchies
